There are Native Maroon villages across the island where they will teach you their own history and language. Not anyone can enter these villages though because they are big on preserving their authenticity and culture. So maybe whenever you visit the island a tour guide can arrange for you to visit one of these villages.

Also don't be surprised that when you come to Jamaica and realize that the population is very mixed race. They say it's majority black here in the statistics but the population looking very mixed on the ground. There's uptown patois That sounds Irish we call this the upper st Andrew accent. Then there is this country patois that also has an Irish tone to it, you'll here this mostly in Westmoreland. Then there is different sounds from every other parish. There is also a standard urban patois accent that is very identifiable to people not native to the island this one is the mixed English and patois.

Paul can easily be Jamaican. Please stop using the word shit. Slave did come to Jamaica. Also Chinese from China, Indians from India Germans from Germany and person from Arabic countries. So all the dialects would come together hence the Jamaican patois. Please stop cursing its disrespectful. I am Jamaican.

The Spanish slaves came from Spain and Portugal, they didn't come from Africa.

Don't listen to this crap. The video is just a eurocentric view of the Jamaican language. Subject verb object syntax exists in many or even most West African languages. So his premise is already off to assume that because they used a combination of English, African and other words, that the language is English based. What he is doing is showing similarities between patois and the English language ... which you can do with many languages around the world. Patois is an African based language with influences from English and other languages ... not an English based language with influences from African and other languages. I hope you see the difference ....
