  • Living together before getting married. It’s a common practice today, and most young adults are doing it. So how can you, as a parent, navigate this tough and complicated issue? In this Focus on the Family broadcast, Pastor Dave Gudgel, who has counseled young adults for years, gives you advice and encouragement on promoting God’s design for marriage-with tact, love, and persuasiveness.

3 of my friends lived with their spouse before marriage and all three are divorced. The other 3 that did not live together are still together and thriving.

I was living with my ex fiance outside of marriage and it was messy.... It was also spiritually breaking. It felt like trying to build a house with broken bricks and no foundation. It was too soon, premature, and a rollercoaster without the breaks.

I wish I'd have followed this advice in my 20's. I lived with a BF and then my hubby before marriage. Sigh.

So often senior citizens are faced with this. I know with age wisdom should come but our society makes getting married a financial burden and we make bad decisions based on financial needs. Please address this for seniors

So true! I’ve see this. And sometimes they lie to get Medicare benefits as if the other partner isn’t there at all.

This is one of America's worst social experiments. Destroy the family, destroy the nation.

Almost everyone I work with have lived together, woman has fallen pregnant and they've gotten married. I don't see the 75% split amongst them.....curious as it is inconsistent with the data

Almost all people live together before marriage. What I mean is if you sleep with another person you have lived with them. How many people remain pure almost none. Even mormon women don't drink or cough but they sure can do something else. No offense.
