I’ve been struggling with how to balance technology and faith in our home, and ‘Raising Warriors: Preparing Your Children For a Godly Life’ provided some amazing insights that we’ve already started using
I tried my best in raising my kids, I was young, isolated many miles away from my family, a new Christian, abusive husband........I want a redo but that’s not an option, I can only pray for healing of the past !
God's gift to our children is when our children turn out well regardless of our many mistakes. Never stop praying for your children. It doesn't end when they grow up.💗
Praying strength from our Lord will fill you with peace. I can relate to your struggle. Jesus wants you to know he intercedes in prayer for you and your family. Keep praying
My son pushed me away too at 13. I cried for days because, at first I didn't think it would happen to me and my son. I'm a single mom, trying to raise a Godly young man and it is hard 😢.
I was a single Mom of 2 boys for many years, but went through 4 failed marriages. I was strict on my 2 sons, but thankfully had a wonderful Mother and step-Dad, who helped me so much. Today my sons are 46 and 47. They've been married to their only wives for over 20 yrs now. At first I felt abandoned when they both joined the Army after High School and then married. Sometimes, I no longer feel like a mother, because they don't need me much anymore. In fact, my youngest hasn't spoken or contacted me for 2 yrs now, because of politics and I'm a Christian. But I still love them both and pray for them daily. I'm proud of the men they grew up to be and thankful because I know they will be saved someday. My oldest is a believer but not practicing. My youngest claims he's agnostic. The devil is a liar and I'm believing and praying for them because I gave them to the Lord many yrs ago. He will make a way.
With my son I use the Stop what you are doing (if possible)...Look at the person and give them your full attention...and listen to understand method. This goes both for him and I when I am speaking or correcting him or if is speaking to me. It has helped us gain respect in our mom and son relationship.
I love listening and learning from Rhonda’s life’s experience with her sons. Does she have another book for daughters? I am not a Mom but an Aunt of two beautiful little girls but the youngest at times can be very challenging. She’s six and sometimes has a very temperamental spirit and can be impatient to communicate when she is challenged by even small things. If her effort to join class from her computer if it doesn’t allow her to enter class for a technical reason she loses her collective spirit and stomps away and displays giving up and won’t listen to calm reasoning. I am a point of how do I communicate effectively to have her to be patient and try to be calm and resourceful? Your recommendations are most welcome! Thank you! Elizabeth
Thanks so much for your message, Elizabeth. Rhonda doesn't have a similar book on raising girls, but we do have some other resources you might consider: bddy.me/2MrJOK8, bddy.me/3kuPMqq, bddy.me/2ZTGQkO. One of our counselors may also be able to offer some insight on effective communication with your niece. If you'd like to arrange a free consultation, please feel free to call us at 800-A-FAMILY (800-232-6459). God bless you!
This is awesome. Thank you so much for this 🙏🏽 Would you all please do one on raising BLACK men in this country? It is such a beautiful and scary experience and a little guidance would be appreciated ♥️
@naido_Loo Thank you so much for your comment. And yes, I absolutely agree that a book/show for mothers raising BLACK men in this country would be a wonderful and valuable resource.
I so needed this. I recently watched an episode by Iyanla and she said mom's make male children who they are because they control the heart. I've been thinking about that statement since
Thank you Rhonda I need all the advice I can get and guidance from the gospel and Holy Spirit I am a single mum to a 2 year old God is stepping in as his father amen.
You spoke to my exact situation....my son has been having seizure activity for the last five year and i have experience all these emotions as i continue to pray for my son's healing....My heart desire to trust Him completely in the wilderness moments
Carla thank you for this comment. I am so glad you were able to listen to this episode where I shared the story of my son's seizure activity. I know you made this comment a year ago, but I felt led to respond and encourage your Momma heart. I'm praying your son's seizures are in control.
This Beautiful Crazy Life, thank you so much for your kind and encouraging comment. Praise the Lord for His wisdom and guidance without which I'm pretty sure I would have ruined my kids. ❤😊
I relate to your experience with your son, Brandon. My son has epilepsy and had the same struggles with personality change and medications when he was a teenager. It took me a long time to understand God's will in raising as well.
Thank you so much for sharing. I've slowly been realizing the power that moms, especially veteran moms, have in helping me raise my children. Thank you for sharing your stories. I would love to read your book!!!
It’s all great my son and I were like best friends……. Until he started puberty, it broke my heart he changed overnight, he didn’t want hugs or to spend time with me etc After some research I discovered it’s all natural for them to detach in order to become a man. All I can say is teach him to respect you! Don’t do everything for him, raise the kind of guy who is a well rounded human who can look after themself.
Yes, I agree, Rhonda you are such a beautiful lady, inside and out. I appreciate your sincerity. What a truly wonderful pastor's wife, mum and grandmother. (You look far too young to be a grandmother......)Thank you also for the awesome story re the Prodigal.
Yes, isn't that an amazing thing to consider how our prayers for our children are similar to Moses' prayers for Joshua and the children of Israel as they fought their battles?
And moms raising girls to be women are so thankful that there are moms raising sons to be men who are taking to heart these insights to raise up godly men, and husbands to marry their daughters.
