    Keep the colors consistent with TTC branding, where did the tacky blue and yellow come from? Did Bombardier really build it or give TTC a hand-me-down from another transit authority?

      Line 5 will be owned by Metrolinx. The TTC is only contracted to operate it.

      Plus, if metro nx changes the colours and changes the presto set up, it's easier for them to change the fares on the public. They are already making the cross town sound more like the go train.

    In Delhi Metro here in India, Bombardier Cars are ways better than the Japanese Cars made by Mitsubishi..

    In the future, the old subway trains and streetcars will be preserved in the train museum. The new Bombardier rail cars are energy efficient and people can walk between cars which we can’t do in the old subway trains.

      They under bid and under estimated the cost and time.
      Companys do this all the time with government contracts cause when ur half way through it costs more to start again with someone else.

    The "bugs" were worked out with the TTC Outlook model order, so the Metrolinx Freedom order should work out be better.

      It’s exclusively for the Line 5 Eglinton LRT, it’s supposed to look distinct and different. So no one confuses it with an actual Streetcar

    Here is something to think about, STOP AUTOMATICALLY GIVING CONTRACTS TO BOMBARDIER, outsouce production and receive higher quality products faster and cheaper

    It has been significantly delayed. I am from 2022, and the service will start at the end of 2023 as earliest.

    That car is not similar to what TTC has. It's the exact same car that Kitchener/Waterloo has on its Ion system.

    Bombardier did fine with the Ion. Ion uses the same vehicles. Im not worried.

      But the train is so slow!!!!! Im hoping the vehicles will be much faster on the crosstown especially with a fully automated and underground portion of the line

    So they admit the lrt is just a streetcar on a dedicated lane? Like the one on St Claire? I guess th eglinton streetcar will be underground half the length.

      The Eglinton Line has stations instead of stops, it has level boarding platforms like the subway, it has fewer stops and higher speeds, the trains will couple together for huge capacity and it will operate on a consistent schedule like the subway.

    Worried about delivery turned out moot. Five years on, not a single train has carried any passengers on the Eglinton Crosstown. Verster should be fired.

      @@officiallynrgxlr8tr It's not because of mechanical things. It's because the LRV belongs to Metrolink and because of that Metrolink can request some LRVs back and use them on other Metrolink projects such as the LRT line being planned to be build in Mississauga

      ​@@TheBrimleyTripper no. you're not understanding what I said. he asked why the LRTs have face to face seating. that is because it is right above the wheel well, and face-to-face seating is the most space-efficient use of that small and cramped space. the other option would have been sideways-facing seats, which would only fit 2 compared to the 4 they currently have. while the LRTs are owned by metrolinx, they have nothing to do with the seat design. that is simply the most efficient way to use the space. the ion train in Waterloo region, for example, is the exact same model, built on the same assembly line in thunder bay, not owned by metrolinx, and they have the same seat design.

    These new models seemingly make it very difficult to observe your surroundings and view all passengers
    that may be on board * * I would think passenger safety is an imporatant consideration when designing city transit -
    cameras do not help prevention and awareness

    NO Presto Machines on board?? yea that's DEFINITELY gonna be a problem! i really hope TTC buys over this new LRT system, because nobody likes having to do the same thing twice ! plus Presto still has A LOT of work to be done!

      @@mrrobot5963 The LCD screen system belongs to the VISION system ( vehicle information and integrated operations system ) witch TTC is right now using. But since these vehicles belong to Metrolink these vehicles cannot use the VISION system or I think

      It can operate in the snow, the news reports about this topic are innacurate as they only experienced problems in the snow during testing and during testing in the winter trains did not run as frequently as they will when they are in service and thus snow built up because the trains could not plough through it every 5 minutes.

      Well, good foreshadowing, because Bombardier was bought by Alstom in January 2021. Bombardier rail no longer exists! (Although, I do think that Alstom will continue to sell Bombardier’s Innovia line of automated people movers and monorails, as Bombardier is pretty well developed in that sector.

    I say let TTC use other manufacturers. It would most likely have cars delivered sooner than later & TTC will have the diversity it once had back when TTC still had the Gloucesters, Montreal M-1s & Hawker Siddelys. I'm surprised that streetcar has the Flyer D901a's unit number. They probably might take the GM Classic's unit number eventually

      Alstom vehicles are just longer. Order longer vehicles from Bombardier and they will have the same capacity. They maximum speed what they need here is limited so the maximum technical speed won't be used.

      In Europe tram is a term used to refer to streetcars (run on the street with cars) and light rail which are separated from traffic. So you may call it a tram, but it operates more like a metro than a streetrunning tram
