  • Happy new year everyone and welcome to my channel!! Starting this year off with a bang, here is the second installment of collecting videos from Jacob’s Geode Mine! This time, we’re not geode hunting alone, we’re accompanied by The Petoskey Hunter! (Links down below) though busting doesn’t make any appearances in this video, we had a blast finding some geodes out in western Illinois!
This video purely contains an intro and raw collecting footage, the last time around I had to fluff the video up with scenery because I couldn’t film as much (see that video here: Geode Collecting at Jacob's Geode Mine
    • Geode Collecting at Ja... ) so this one is straight to the action!

Wow !! That looked like a lot of work !! We got to get together up there next summer. There are several small creeks that run into the Mississippi River . From Warsaw to Nauvoo there are several places you can pull over and check out . Most have geodes. All free !! And no beating on rocks.
    Keep rockin!!👍😎

What an awesome place. Wish we had someplace like that here.

DANG! That is some serious hard rock mining - those geodes are rough to get out!

I think Jacobs has the iridescent calcite ones. Those are what I want to find! Of course they’re the most rare 🤷🏻‍♂️😂 what can I say all that druzy has spoiled me. To quote my wife and I agree. I don’t need no basic B geodes! 😂😂😂 whatever they’re all cool and unique. I definitely need to get up north soon it’s not far I’m just usually going south 🤷🏻‍♂️Only so many free days and Haunted Ridge Rocks is hard to pass up being only a 90 minute drive for me

Check out Schefflers Geode Mine just west of Jacobs. Much easier digging. Dig the 2 ft layer above the hard dark grey shale

Maybe take a jack hammer next time! Good exercise. Is this where that tiny calcite geode was from?

Yes indeed! I am planning a group dig here where I’ll have a jackhammer of some sort for sure!

I was wondering about that also. Definitely need a battery powered hammer drill for this spot. I’m going to try and remember that…
