Have a great day!!
likewise
Merci et toi aussi 🤩
Thanks, you too!
Try using an ultrasonic cleaner for the stuffed one.
have a great life
The white chalky substance is kaolinite, a clay mineral, and is pretty cool. I wouldn't destroy it.
The mineral at 7:20 that you didn't know is probably dolomite. Im looking at this on my phone.
i have cut about 30-40 geodes or so over the last few years, and i keep coming across this chalky stuff. i was told that its Gypsum. the uncrystallized form of Selenite. going to have to look up this Kaolinite now. thanks for the info.
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: Oh, a slicing video! And geodes at that! You made my day! You rock!!!!
I understand! I am also a rockhound and disabled. Sometimes I can get out there and hunt rocks and sometimes I can't, but I love these videos!
@@renbaker5124 Bless these younger rockhounds who take us along via video!
I'd like to see you tumble geodes and then cut them open. That would look cool. Also, you could throw in some solid geodes that you already cut in half. I saw a guy do that and they come out comparable to agates.
Agate Dad,one more thing, ran a tree lot this past Xmas and spray painted my geods w/acrylic black and gave them out to ppl that bought trees as...lumps of coal- it's fun on Christmas mornings, add a little hammer and it's an hour of fun!
Thanx again Agate Dad
I like the more solid ones when they have some translucency, so you can see into the depth a bit.
What if you tumbled a geode then cut it in half?
I just love that sparkley crystal goodness in them! The agate bands really add to the beauty! Simply gorgeous! 😊
You’re right. They are prettier when they’re dry. Then you can really appreciate the SPARKLY crystals 😍
I absolutely LOVED the one with the peek-a-boo botryodial! That was my favorite 😁
I love geodes! I have a couple of really cool ones from gem & mineral show where you can pick one and then they split it open for you with that racheting chain splitter. I've been lucky, picking one in particular that has all this wonderful druzy crystal inside, and it's got great depth. Fun watching you cut them.
Just fascinated by what's inside those rocks. Mother Nature is such a talented artist! Love what you're doing, Mr. ?
Vinegar is your best bet. Lowe's sells 30% which is 5-6 times stronger than the grocery store version I've used it with great results when getting rid of weird or strange mineral deposits that are covering my stones.
I looooove geodes! 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
I love geodes! I live in Morelia Mexico, but in Taxco, Guerrero (which is famous for its silver) I visited a store that specializes in geodes. That place is amazing!!! I have one geode that is purple inside. Thank you for sharing with us. Greetings from Morelia, Michoacán México
Yo those geodes look NICE! (MERRY CHRISTMAS AGATE DAD AND ROCKHOUNDERS!!)
So very pretty, love sparkly geodes. Thank you for sharing and thank you for maintaining your 'Dad bod' , it is appreciated lol
🤣
Love the geodes!! I think the white stuff is Kaolinite clay! So cool!!
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
You too!
Can't wait to see the muddy ones cleaned up! Thank you for sharing these with us!
Those are all beautiful 😊
Crap I could sit here and watch the
"What's in this rock "
Game ...all..... day.........long 😂😂😂 13:29
7:16 is sooo cool!! ROCK ON!! 😁👍🏻🪨⛏️
The one with the orange in it was really cool.. in the 3rd batch
I love the double one in the 4th batch!
I liked the geode from the first batch that was fully open. So pretty!
Some of the looked like surprised faces when you turned them around 😮😮. Super beautiful 🎉 as always great video Taylor!
I broke my geode by throwing it onto the cement floor in my basement. It’s adorable
BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for sharing!
Gorgeous geodes!!!❤️...on my bucket list to find one👍🏼
Those are sweet!
Merry Christmas!!
I love to watch all your surprise surprise moments, every stone so pretty!
Very enjoyable to watch! ❤
All little treasures to open I love it!!🥰♥️✨🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing,love it.
Ah! I wondered about how they looked...guess I'll have to keep an eye peeled for those when out hounding!
I'm a sucker for sparkle!😍
I'm so glad I found this channel. Also happy to see you have a shop on esty. ❤
I’m glad you did too! Thanks for the support!
Beautiful 😍 thanks for sharing 💖...
Try soaking in vinegar. I know soaking shells in vinegar will take the hard outer part off with little hand work involved. Anyone wanting to try this with shell, please research.
New bee - 😊Like your cuts. Learning cutting from you and appreciate the tips.
The yellow crystal one is so pretty!
I loved them all thank you
Cool idea. Love it . 😊
The agate geode was my favorite!
Just spent a few days in New Mexico at my sisters and we went to rockhound state park and picked up nodules and jasper. I actually brought 32lbs of rocks back on the plane with me hahahaha can't wait to have time for cutting them. Wish I had a cabking! I do need to get a thin blade too though
Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄
That one you said looked like there was a diamond inside, it really did.
Too fun!! 🤩
Love them!! ❤
Cut, cut, cut!,This was lots of fun.
with the chalk, you might be able to get some vinegar or lemon juice on a q-tip to control the amount of surface exposed...
If it is calcium carbonate, this idea should work really well.
The one side with the agate bands the center looked like a heart with wings.
We used to set them in milk cartons filled up with plaster of Paris and cut them that way.
The geode at 8:14 looks like it has goethite needles in the quartz
For sure!
This looks so fun
It sure is!
They look like keokuk geodes. I grew up in keokuk Iowa and have found truck loads of them. 😊
11:04 looks like a heart inside!♥️✨
Very nice!
The double one is cool.
Parabéns TAYLOR
Every time I watch an Agate Dad video..*wish I had a saw*
Totally thought those were moon rocks from Colorado 😂😂😂
Hey agate dad. Great video
I've seen others use muriatic acid. Those are all so beautiful.
I just subscribed ❤I live in Stoneham Maine and have been prospecting for years…. Geodes have been on my bucket list to find…. I got a nodule but I have a four in long 1.5 inch wide quartz crystal with a phantoms inside💪 MINING ROCKS….And yes I DID SAY THAT❤ THX FOR YOUR CONTENT
On those that are Chalkyou looking I'm wondering if you could use muratic acid maybe something good could happen.
I live in Keokuk Iowa. We used to get buckets of gross and crack the. Open. Great fun
Love them all. Can you find out what the chalky ones are. Let us know. It's so interesting to see.
Thank you for the video. You really love nature. How can you id a geod from any rock and where do you find them?❤
Maybe try some CLR to clean the chalky one? Maybe it's calcium? 🤷♀️
Beautiful ❤
Thanks!
Thank you so much!!
As usual no matter what you say they are all my favorites. I look forward to look at your videos although I don’t know much about them. I just want to hear you laugh. Blessings 🙏🙏👍❤️👋👋👋
I was seeing animals in the last of the geodes you cut..on right hand of agate center, turn around, I saw horse head. Next one you cut..right again, looked like wolf head. I like your hat 😁
You are just the kind of guy that my dad would love to be friends with
Vinegar will clean if it doesn't work out try CLR calcium lime rust cleaner soak them in it...
I'm the first ten you cut that last one that was weird looked like a fossil in a geode just imo❤
We got a natgeo rock tumbler for Christmas. What are your thoughts in running it in an unheated garage this time of year? It's been getting down in temps, below freezing. I told my little one that it might be best to wait until spring or warmer overnight temperatures.
I liked the butroidal geode so far.
Put the chalky one in a jewelry cleaner! 😊
Where did these come from? you cut some nice ones for sure. Tyler knows what that chalky stuff is. I can’t remember what it is called. Starts with a K. I think. I’ve cracked some with it inside. Nice video bud.
Geodes and (thundereggs?)... crystals and agate bands.
Try some CLR on that one with the chalky substance
When you say you are looking "in a river in northern Minnesota," are you at the mouth of the river with Lake Superior or further inland? I drive up there from southeast Minnesota as much as I can and spend hours on the lakeshore but fail miserably at finding agates.
Anyone else love the teeny tiny mini crystal formations
Beautiful👍❤
The best way to clean the chalky one is to soak in toilet bowl cleaner and then use a toothbrush to get everything out.
8:32 Try a sonic water flosser.
Can you tell me where can I access Lake Superior near the town of Superior and going east? Otherwise, where around downtown Duluth and north? I’d really appreciate any information you may have. Thank you so very much!! I thoroughly enjoy your videos.
Awesome
Those solid ones could be cut thinner for small slabs ? With that saw??
Does it work well to place them in the ball mill, to get them a good smooth polish on the outside and then cut them in half?
Belíssimos geodos
I have a big one that was in an aquarium for a while. What can i use to clean it? It has some algue on it and just overall not clean. Thank you!
The geode with yellow, I wonder if that’s Wulfenite? (I don’t have much knowledge of rocks, yet. I’m sincerely asking not stating it’s Wulfenite) So beautiful! I can’t wait see the rest. As always loved your video.
Gotta ask...how did you know those were geodes (before cutting)??
The fella who gave them to me told me they were lol they kind of have a distinct look
That last geode look like a Fossil. I don't know if it's possible for it to form inside that rock or not
Hi! How can you tell that it’ll be a geode or just a normal rock from the outside?
very pretty
Thought these where moonrocks on the show picture...landed wrong
