I've had my Ix4000 for 6 years, serviced it once but it really doesn't need it, it has zero ball bearings lol. I have a 80$ Shimano Sahara and it's nice, but not nearly as dependable
Not being able to afford those awesome brand reels from abu garcia, penn, lews, and so on, I bought one of these for 12 bucks back in 2016. This reel paired with an ugly stick is unstoppable, without a doubt one of the best purchases I've ever made, and still using it to this day.
@@AA1PR just bought an Shimano FX4000 on auction. seems to be from the 80s and i noticed it have that feature so im very happy you showed how it worked. I love those old reels.
I cant tell you what to do but I love mine for small fish like perch & trout you can hardly tell they are on the line, I fish with my finger pinching the line against the pole, Ive caught more perch this year on it, thanks for the view & comment please subscribe as it helps out the channel Thanks
@@manzfishing6531 sorry I was thinking this was the shimano sienna 4000 reel video, you are right the frame is graphite, but the crank handle is metal if that helps
I have no idea, the manual states Specifications Model: IX4000R Line Retrieve Per Crank: 24 inches Monofilament Line Capacity (# test/yard): 8/240, 10/200, 12/160 PowerPro® Line Capacity (# test/yard): 15/265, 30/175, 50/145 Max Drag: 15 pounds Gear Ratio: 4.1:1 Weight: 11.4 ounces

What size braided line is suitable for this Shimano IX 4000r spinning reel?
different manufacturer lines vary, but I have used 30lb braided without any issues
I have this reel, I'm trying to get the top spindle off, it won't budge. Any ideas?
Yes, open the bale, hold the handle & turn the spindle if facing the back of the reel to the right
@@AA1PR thanks I figured it out. For some reason the top nut to the spool doesn't loosen.
@@Arcturian1111 nope just the whole spool
@@AA1PR I actually caught a small blue fish with this reel yesterday. I'm stoked. It worked amazing for an inexpensive reel.
@@Arcturian1111 Awesome, I havent used mine since last summer

@@AA1PR I was thinking of a whoopin stick and a quantum optix 50. If you have any knowledge of that being good or bad that would help. Thanks!
@@jackobrien4432 Sir,
no I do not, but it sounds like it should work fine
@@AA1PR thanks for your thoughts!
@@jackobrien4432 Thank You
is it graphite or metal handle?
definitely a metal handle and frame
@@AA1PR sure about that? been searching around the web but nothing i found said its metal handle and mostly the component made out of graphite.
@@manzfishing6531 no you are right I was thinking of the other shimano reel I have
