  • There’s no need to spend tons of money on expensive fishing gear when you can get a nice reel at an affordable price. I have found the best budget fishing reel. When I use this reel, I don’t have to worry about losing fish. It does a great job and feels sturdy at the same time. Please note that I am not sponsored by Shimano in any way. I am sharing my honest opinion to help you find the best affordable fishing gear
    Today, we are using this reel to target white perch. White perch is one of my favorite fishes to eat, so I’m hoping to stock up on them in order to have fresh fish meat during this quarantine. Wow! That was such a crazy fun day of fishing

    *When you are going fishing during this pandemic, please make sure you follow state laws and social distancing guidelines. This does not mean “We can meet up to go fishing as long as we stay 6 feet away from each other.” Social distancing means that you should not be in the same vicinity as people who do not live in your household unless absolutely necessary (like when buying groceries). Limit your contact with others as much as possible. Go to remote fishing spots where there are no other people fishing. If you want to go fishing with a friend, we recommend that you each go to your own fishing spots and video call each other. Let’s all help keep each other safe during this uncertain time*

    The anti reverse is just fine. It always reverses to the top right where you want it so you can grab the line and lever so you can cast.

    That “ anti-verse “ that you were talking about , is actually a feature built into that reel , being a quick fire , it’s suppose to make it so the trigger bail is set back to the ready to cast position .
    Of course in my experience , over time the bail seem to fail and pre maturely close on you during your cast , which can cause break off .
    But it could just be my experience

    • @WisGuy4
      @WisGuy4 4 года назад +2

      Reel Fishing You are correct, it repositions the bail so the Quickfire trigger is in proper place to access with one’s index finger. The downside to this is that it can allow too much slack in the line to get a nice tight line with a lure or a hook on the rod’s hook retainer or secured on an eyelet support.
      I have not encountered any problems with my several Shimano IX series reels that I have owned for at least six years.

    • @kcox9945
      @kcox9945 4 года назад

      From my use of the 2000 and 4000 the bail closing mid cast is from the line snagging the "trigger" mid cast. I've removed the trigger from mine an eliminated this issue. My wife has figuered out a casting method that gets rid of the issue. I didnt have the desire to learn it as I hated the trigger

    I have had an IX 1000 and a couple of IX 2000's for more than 20 years now, they still work great and look great. I have even used the 2000's for light rock fishing for small Jacks, Queenfish and tarpon. A shark took one of my catches, and spooled me out - but the reel is still in great condition. Great Reels! Very underrated. (BTW, that anti-reverse problem you mentioned, that is the quick cast bail re-set - it is to position the bail "automatically" so you can use the quick fire feature. - it does take a little getting used to). Cheers

For $15, I was expecting to get one or two seasons from them, but I've used most of them for 8 years now. Just bought an ix2000r. Had to do some sanding because the drag clicker was crunchy. Also the one way mechanism took some polishing and greasw because it was grinding. Still makes an audible click when the one way pawl engages every rotation.
    Not a fan of the plastic spool lip. I can see that getting burrs and grabbing on casts. Also not a fan of rear drag because tightening the line against the hook holder requires turning the spool backwards since the quickfire system prevents instant anti reverse which can unscrew the spool of drag is tight.
    Still a decent value and an upgrade for a Walmart combo. I do prefer the Shimano syncopate though

    The IX Series are great, inexpensive reels that I've used for at least 20 years. Not the best for jigging due to the Quickfire anti-reverse casting system, but great for casting and still fishing. I use the 4000 for surf and saltwater and the 2000 for bass and pike. The rear drag is awesome and the reel is light and well balanced. Only downside is the 4:1 gear ratio, that's a little slow but you can compensate with a faster retrieve. I've noticed lately this series is out of stock most everywhere, I hope it won't be discontinued. I did find two 2000's that I bought for future use. Great video, thanks for sharing.

    I just received a gift from my neighbor. It’s a shimano 100 q ax bio grip. It runs as smooth as silk. It’s amazing he takes very good care of his things. I love it! What kind if rod do you have that paired with? Nice video !

    I’m thinking of purchasing the Kast King bait runner you compared with your shimano. What rod should I pair it with? Size and strength? I like saltwater fishing in Florida. Shore and very few time boat.

    That's my favorite combo, if you want a slight upgrade you can go up to a Berkeley lightning for 30 if I remember, I'm actually about to go buy one today if I can find those two, I gave a lot of my fishing stuff to friends that needed them, now I gotta get my budget creek combo again, I'm using and old zebco rod and speed master reel, however my line is getting frayed, so I think it has a bad eye or something.

    I love the Shimano trigger reels, and the IX line is FANTASTIC!
    I fish for those fish that are typically less than 5 lbs. Sunfish in the lakes, trout and flounder, whiting, pompano in the salt.
    These reels have really good drag and work like Government mules.
    When they break down after a few years, recycle them for parts like the spools and handles, and get a new one.
    Right now, I think I have 8 reels on rods....2000's on Ugly Stick Dock Runners for fishing for everything from Crappie with jigs, pinfish with FISHGUM, and trout and sheeps with shrimp. I have a few 4000's on some rods I got at ACADEMY SPORTS that are called ROUGHNECK rods, and they catch everything up to keeper size Redfish.
    Seriously, if it has SHIMANO on it, it isnt junk.

    Shimano came out with that in the 80s. Around 86 I think it was. Or 85. It was called the quickfire FX100. Later down the road I remember the fx1000 quick-fire ll. And then they just kept going I kept jumping around with numbers but yes there are more or less that's a time there were like $29. Cuz I remember that's what I used when they came out. And I stayed using them for bass fishing believe it or not I've got some pretty big northern pike catfish and Muskie on them. Of course after while o and big carp. After a while you had to take a minute to get repaired because they have nylon washers that wear out pretty easily when you fight big fish. But if you don't and you'll get a couple years anywhere from probably 2 to 4 years fighting average fish. And again. All determines how many you catch how often you go and how big fish are. So for that $12 you are correct the FX models or the I-X I think might be there but any of those models that you're using are good reels for the price as a matter of fact I've got one in the garage. I love them. You can't go wrong with them but of course when the washers need replace by the time you pay for the washers how to repair bill it's always cheaper just to get a new real. Unless you do the work yourself then you're good. So remember that. Academy carries them Karen Texas. And I think almost any stores you could check Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops which are both the same now because Cabela's bought Bass Pro which is unbelievable. So I would highly recommend getting one and using it. 5 use as much as 10 lb test on it sing that I'm from Ohio I always try to put the smallest diameter 10 pound test I can get on there. Now you have braids so you could always do a Top Shot of 20 ft was Bono if you want cuz mono is lighter than braids. So it's just a choice. Back then we didn't have braid. And we used to have what they called Magnuson Berkeley Magnuson which was almost like braid in a monofilament. Because 10 lb test equals out to be like 6 lb test diameter. I wish I'd bring that back again that was awesome stuff. I loved it the casting on it was great everything about that that's great in that fishing line. So but all in all for the money you can't go wrong. By three of them could you sell some inexpensive rods like good ugly sticks and there you go. And a skipper said you can get them all different sizes and they do make them bigger depending on what you're going to go for have 3 of them wanted to frame sizes if you got kids turn excellent real to get them up on. Or for yourself same thing yam in different sizes and they will work wonders. I've caught steelhead on them. Steelhead is a good hard fighting fish along with carp. and I love to drag system in the back like Skipper says cuz it's easier to set when you're fighting a fish could hold a ride one hand and put your hand behind it and tighten it up verses on top. and the drag is like a click drag. Every time you turn the knob you hear a little click. And you can feel it so you're not guessing it how far are you with it like the ones on top you just got to keep screwing and playing with it until you get it there.
