Not gonna lie, watching your videos was one the inspirations for me when I was looking into buying an RX8, that in which I just did recently. Hoping to do similar events as such whenever I get it to a point I'm comfortable with it. In the mean time though I'll keep enjoying the videos you're putting out! Great driving!
oh boy, adding you to the list of victims, er i mean converts! That's awesome man, the RX-8 has such unique character and teaches you so much as a driver. Welcome to the brotherhood!
@@rx8matt +1 victim here xD Couple of months of eargasming through the corners of local backroads in my RX8... And your videos were among the reasons i decided to butcher my budget
@@keeponchamp193 i wish i had kept better track... that could be as many as 10 folks who have become rx8 converts over the years. I'm glad every time i see a new one at one of my events. i WISH we had backroads here - i have to drive out to the countryside for good roads.
Great driving, fabulous allignment setup and what a chassis balance! Also, you do a wonderful job there with the camera's placement and color/white balance. Very few have managed that so well! Thanks for bringing us with you there!
Get er done Zoom Zoom! Looked like epic fun. Clean smooth driving. Awesome to think you just need a helmet. I would love to attend one someday. The Appalachian Mountains are some of the oldest in the world and some of the most extreme in terms of elevation change, weather shifts/extremes and general dangers. But they can be some of the most beautiful. You were actually really close to some Appalachian temperate rainforest. That is right: rainforest. These are very unique microclimates and some of the oldest and most biodiverse temperate regions in the world. The Red spruce and Fraser fir throughout can he very old and massive in size compared to other areas of the world.
Yes, this event was very unique in that the safety equipment *requirement* was minimal and the barrier to entry was low. That said, the organizers strongly suggest having as much "safety" as possible. The location was very beautiful and it was a pleasant change of pace to cruise the mountains and forest all weekend.
people must either think i'm too poor for a matching trunk or trying to be distinctive! as soon as it cools down i will try to respray the OE trunk sections.
@@GTI_Autocross if you don't mind full prep, weatherly and pagoda hillclimbs with PHA might be more up your alley. Or chasing the dragon hillclimb. Since you have more power than me, that "creates" more corners!
RX8club website has details, it's a resistor that you plug into the seat wiring harness. But in truth this car has the OEM seat and all of the original airbags. i just use a Shroth bolt-in rallye-3 harness
No - just a SNELL SA2015 or newer helmet. it is definitely the most lax on safety requirements, and hence has the lowest barrier to entry. That said the organizers encourage as much safety equipment as you can afford, and the event is run with a high level of safety in mind. you are in charge of managing your own risk level.
Matt is living his best life with that RX8 and I’m here for it 🎉🎉
My RX-8 is also living it's best life - it always feel a little happier after a good workout! 💪

I've grown attached to the white trunk lid with the "trunk monster?" peeking out! A good run it seems.

NGL, I wish we had hills to climb. Nice driving, as usual, relieved you didn't remind me to go practice my LFB ...😄
@@BushidoDriver I used LFB between the two tight hairpins. No need to shift there
@@rx8matt yeah, but that looked doable, not your typical pedal ballet from autoX 😆
@@BushidoDriver true, quite leisurely in comparison!
Love to do a shorter twistier hillclimb than this. Too much straight and not enough squiglly for this autocrosser! Glad you enjoyed it.

You told me no more Hillclimbs, 😮you lied to your Mother!! Looks like a great run though.
well this one was at a safer location and i was not driving as hard.
Love the car and driving, was wondering how you keep your airbag light off with the bucket seat in? mine has been on since I swapped.

Hello! Looks awesome! How are you keeping your water temps at bay? On my rx8 seems impossible to do these kind of runs without overheating! Greetings!
