What a well designed race track. Allowing two cars of opposite strengths to battle it out. You can see the power of the Mustang when on the straight and also the handling of the RX8 in the corners. I love this sort of racing.
I loved the rs3v2 tires. I had them when I first got the car and started wanting more gum on the corners but so far I haven't found anything even close to them near their price range. Only thing that beats them is the super sports and R compounds. (09 RX8 R3)
Gaming Made Simple some other budget options near the Hankook are the federal 595 RS-RR (noisy and greases up but great grip and cheap) and the falken azenis rt615k. Falken is fairly comparable to Hankook and is cheap and long lasting.
baghdadwarrior03 thanks man! the rx8 is a great driver's car, very rewarding. make sure to visit rx8club. com if you haven't already to learn more about pre purchase things to look for. Best luck to you!
Darren Lucas haha, maybe it was both? 😉 I definitely wanted to give him a good run and knew I had an advantage in the corners. I just had a great battle with a tuned 370Z today that I'll be posting soon. thanks again for watching! 👍
There is one thing wrong with all of these videos we can tell the RX-8 is pushing hard but we can never really tell if the other drivers are actually pushing their cars. I'm not saying the RX isn't a great chasis it is but some of the other cars were great too.
They might have been pushing within their personal limits... But perhaps not to the car's limits. I agree with you that's it's an important nuance. However, part of the whole point of my RUclips is to focus on driving improvement and the importance of the loose but behind the wheel. A decent car driven well can beat cars that should be faster on paper. To compare cars directly, you'd need a pro driver in each.
No, for many, many reasons. Long story short, modified engines and more power often spoil a car and the entire experience. First, turbo immediately bumps me into racing classes which demand much higher money to be competitive, and in which the drivers are less focused on driving skills and more focused on throwing mods at the car to go faster. Second, turboing will reduce engine reliability. I'm going 2.5 years strong on this engine, winding it out on the regular, and it's still extremely happy with life. Third, turboing will reduce the reliability and increase the cost of just about everything else connected to the car, too. The transmission, differential, brakes, tires, driveline, EVERYTHING will see wear and loads they weren't designed for. You'll tear through gas, brakes, and tires at an extreme rate, which matters when i spend almost all my time racing near or at the limit of the car's potential. Fourth, the cost of the turbo kit is the cost of my racing budget for multiple seasons... i have more fun competing and driving hard then throwing go-fast parts at the car. My focus is on driving skill, not spending a ton of money. Finally... and this is a weird one... it's more rewarding to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow, and slower cars are EASIER and more rewarding for most folks to push to the limit. In the lower classes, you're much more likely to have to win with skill and to be up against folks with a similar mindset. It also just feels like you're trying harder driving a car with less power... there's so much emphasis on absolute maximum cornering and braking performance, no mistakes, versus a powerful car that you can afford to be more conservative and overslow the car in a brake zone or corner and then make it up on a straight by just planting the accelerator. In short, it's highly rewarding to drive a low powered car extremely well and crush much "faster" cars. My advice to folks in always to focus on seat time and the driver... go fast parts are secondary. Keep the car's power mostly stock and focus on handling. After all, you don't have to speed back up if you don't slow down as much!
Darren McClellan you're in luck! Mid Ohio is a top tier road course. Very fun. There are plenty of organizations who run "HPDE events there". Rx8 is an amazing track car
This is clearly the reason the RX8 is such a good car, a v8 mustang couldn't get away from a 1.3 liter 13b. Go RX8!
pmm4177 rotary FTW!!
People underestimate just how good the rx8 chassis is
their loss! i have lots of friends who dog on the rx8... if they took me up on my offer to ride in one at the track!

good driving, I'm learning on track with rx too. car can catch many stronger cars but overtaking is hard turbo would help,
Video never gets old! You drive the hell out of that track ❤️🙌🏾
Caszzx S thanks man, it's a super fun track!

Matt Huffman awesome. I'll have to take a look at those. Seems hard to find decent tires with a acceptable price.
beautiful work !
Chris Johns thanks Chris, this one was a particularly fun battle. Thanks for the sub!
Awesome video man! Good driving! I'm just watch RUclips videos like crazy in anticipation for me getting an rx8 :) eventually!

Did you ever get the RX8?
7 years almost 8 years later, did you get an RX-8?
Mate... The best yet...... Were you hungry to catch that Stang or what, balls the size of mangos..... Learning from ya here over the pond in 🇬🇧

Hot Damn you was moving boy!!! :)
That does look like a nice track. Good driving.

Do you have engine work done
Not really. OEM rebuild from pineapple racing.
How much hp this baby got
Enough, Haha. Only about 200 at the wheels... but its reasonably light too
Are you going to turbo this thing??

What tires and mods do you have? Track looks like fun, nice driving.
updated in description section. thanks.
I must bring my 2006 rx8 to this track. I live in ohio.

It's only a two hour drive for myself!
Same here, I need to bring mine up to track specs
