NYPD Blue Intro (Season 1)

- The classic intro to one of the best police dramas, NYPD Blue. I added a separate, extra part after the intro.
Theme by Mike Post.
All rights belong to Steven Bochco Productions and 20th Century Fox Television.
David Caruso just nailed it on NYPD Blue. He was simply phenomenal as John Kelly. Here was this skinny Irish cop who didn't look that tough, but was and he used his street smarts, empathy and intuition to outwit the bad guys. Kelly and Sipowicz were quite a pairing.
Then he left like an idiot and never had a great career. Stupid because he was so good
Interesting that his departure didn't prevent NYPD Blue 12 year success. Proof that he was definitely replaceable.
@@philippeh3904 | Caruso did learn a hard lesson... and made up for it with _CSI: Miami._
It wasn’t the same when John Kelly left
@@keanucora4606 Your right it got better
This intro is awesome. The music was on point. Really captures the city and the pace we live at here. At the same time, beneath the grit ... it’s a beautiful city and people can surprise you.
I love this intro, too. I find the music soothing & heartwarming. Photography is great as well. I loved every fucking minute I was in New York, and people were LOVELY everywhere I went. Merci NY. Can’t wait to see you again. Xo
Hill Street Blues was 10x better!
@@penknight8532 I don't know about 10 times better. But I thought that Hill Street Blues was the Template for NYPD Blue. It dealt with both Uniformed Cops and Detectives and even the so called Criminals themselves. David Caruso played the head of an Irish Gang on the Show.
Hill Street Blues also had Comedy in it as wel which NYPD Blue didn't have. I think I do prefer Hill Street Blues over NYPD Blue although they were both good shows.
Very well said. I love the intro too.
Perhaps in the early 90s but I wouldn't say nowadays
Steven Bochco does it again....dont forget Hill Street Blues
Dennis Franz is the epitome of a working man.
Drunk Driver" "And YOU'RE an asshole!"
Dennis Franz: ".........I'm an asshole. Really. I'm -" *Throws random piece of scrap metal at windshield.* - "I'M THE ASSHOLE? I'M THE ASSSSHOLE????" 😂😂
Happy Birthday to Steven Bochco, who would've been 77 today (December 16, 2020). You are deeply missed.
He cared about the Blue. Not these 2020 scumbag activists
Tv icon along with Cannell.
Mike Post is legend in his own right with iconic tv themes like this and L&O franchise.
Dennis Franz is the heart of the show. Simply the best actor and CHARACTER I’ve seen on TV, other than Bryan in Breaking Bad. Both Masters. A privilege to watch. ⚡️❤️😘
I thought that William Zabka did a great job playing Johnny Lawrence in Cobra Kai at least the first season or 2. I think William Zabka should have been nominated for an Emmy for his performance especially the first year.
Franz was the machine of this beloved show, not kidding, the cast really supported this man.
One of the best intros to a tv show.
And this show came out a year after I was born too
AMEN
Ever
Law and order's intro is way better but nypd blue is good too
@@hesh.hesh.2051 I like Law and Order as well, but NYPD Blue's intro stomps Law and Order's.
Dont even have words for this show...Just amazing. Still watch it to this day...any episode at any point...❤💪🏿
Heroes and icons has it
After rewatching season 1, the most poignant scene was the Polish father identifying his dead son. When he falls into Andy's arms...
This was real TV, absolutely loved the show. Nowadays, that excitement is gone since the dawn of Netflix etc. Gone are the days when we would look forward all week to watch our favourite shows. The subway train in the beginning still gives me goosebumps. This was the era without the proliferation of the internet and smartphones. Feeling very nostalgic 😢
Such a nice tune
I was just listening to the theme from the original series "The Equalizer." This song reminds me of it. You get the pounding, constant drumbeat, and then there's the soft midsection, that sounds like getting up in the morning after a heavy rain, and there's a little bit of mist in the air. It's one of the best.
Stewart Copeland (The Police) composed that theme.
@@jonp4846 are you serious? Did he really compose this theme?
@@elizabethmckenna5397 That theme, not this theme, as in "The Equalizer" not "NYPD Blue"
@@jonp4846 Haha. I was reading it to quick. After I posted that reply, I realized that you meant Stewart did the Equalizer theme.
@@elizabethmckenna5397 No worries.
The drums are the subway. Loud drums the express.
Mike Post, FOREVER.
I was surprised when I read that the drums were actually sampled trash cans.
John Kelly is one compassionate and patient cop! Love how he comforted the people...even the criminals! None of Sipowicz's other partners measured up to Detective John Kelly.
I liked Jimmy Smits
What about John Clark Jr he Deserves credit to
John Kelly was an exceptional character.
With his departure, this show has become a regular cop drama.
My ranking of Andy Sipowicz's partners:
1. Bobby Simone A+
2. John Kelly A+
3. John Clark Jr A
4. Danny Sorenson A-
Damn I feel old. I miss the 90's so much 😢
One of the best TV series
One of my favourite TV series.. fantastic!!!!♥️♥️♥️
This was simply the best........!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just started watching this show yesterday. Six episodes in - and I am hooked. Though admittedly, I was hooked within the first 10 minutes of the 1st episode :) Trying not to look at ANYTHING that involves potential spoilers - though I do know who departs - since it was a BIG news story back in the day (aka Caruso) - and who comes in (aka Zack Morris)
This show is raw - and honest. Miss this kind of tv.
oh, thank you for the powerful intro music🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰i can only say it's just amazing💙💙💙💙💙
I miss TV intros!
One of the best shows ever. R.I.P. Steven Ronald Bochco (December 16, 1943 - April 1, 2018).
Hill Street Blues
Bro I am obssessed with this. I mean Law and Order is my favorite but this theme song claps it.
The 1st season was the best. But Caruso dropped the ball wanted to do movie's big mistake !
One of I think the only shows to be an Emmy winner before the ceremony - it was nominated in all five slots for writing in a drama series for Season One. Shows have done that before but not in the first season to my knowledge
Back when David Caruso's carrer was promessing (it is so breakful to see him in CSI : Miami 😭)
David Carusos should have stayed for more season in NYPD blue tv series he was one of the best ones on the program
I miss the 90s. I was 1980 baby. And my older cousins and uncles were on the job. I loved hearing stories. I got on in 01. Retires in 2021. 20 years
Makes me miss the 90’s
John Kelly was a Revolutionary 👊
I knew that dennis Frenz was on NYPD Blue but I didn't realise that David caruso was on it too
Caruso was the original main man of the show but his ego got to him
@@person-ce8cr ooops I have just found it
The intro is so 90s
Happy birthday Mike Post
I never even watched this but when I was real little I liked watching the theme song lol I called it "the badge"
It's hard to tell which one is more ground breaking, NYPD Blue or The Wire. I think they are both equally ground breaking in their own ways.
nypd blue is better
Ahem! How about Hill Street Blues & Homicide LOTS?! The former a precursor to NYPD BLUE & the latter a precursor to THE WIRE.
@@sebastiantravis9406 yep
@@sebastiantravis9406 Especially since Hill Street Blues was ironically co-created by Steven Bochco and also featured Dennis Franz in the last 2 seasons of that series and another earlier episode as well.
Oh, NYC I will never stop loving you❤️
Don't know which I like more, this or The Shield.
Happy 30th anniversary to NYPD Blue premiered on ABC at 10pm for the entire 12 seasons with a Viewer Discretion Is Advised disclaimer
Wish David caruso had stayed on a bit longer. Great actor.
Loved This Show, Reboot It.
That intro music took me back to my childhood😢
Back when race didn't matter
Lol? Wait what......
David caruso in NYPD blue and CSI miami
A Great Theme to a Great Show!
Man I miss the 90's. My parents still had their health, and the world seemed simpler, less angry and divided. It wasn't perfect, but if I could, I'd go back.
Nostalgia
📺DEBUT: ‘NYPD Blue’ starring David Caruso and Dennis Franz premiered on this day (September 21) in 1993 on ABC.
David caruso was the best actor on the show hands down. It sucks that he left after the 1st season.
Ur Fuckin Crazy
@@robertjones4082 I said actor not the best person
David made this show
Bullshit
David Caruso was brilliant as Detective Kelly.......why did you have to quit so early, was it just about money??
The show wasn't as good without him, that's for sure
He and Suzanne Somers (Three’s Company) believed their own press. David Caruso more or less admitted that he regretted leaving the show. He didn’t work consistently for 12 years until he got the lead in CSI: Miami
It was about money and having the lead on his own show. Plus 10 years of big paychecx and steady work.......
@Margaret Gust Kiss Of Death was first, in spring of 1995.
he got a movie deal
Freeze! NYPD!
The show felt so different before bobby came
Season 1 was the best , I wish Caruso returned in later season, which was really dissapointed, I really enjoyed his romance with Licalsi.
David Caruso is half Irish and half Italian
Detective Kelly meets Olivia Benson
sometimes I do catch the show. ❤📲 !
Had a huge crush on Det. Martinez 😍😉
Interesting that the initial two leads from this series have since retired from acting.
I don't know what it is; but for some reason this theme is comforting and warm... Which is strange for a police procedural
Great theme. Season 1 was the best, it was never quite as good after that, in my opinion, although I watched them all until the end...I always found Simone a rather bland replacement for Caruso's steely determined John Kelly...
I agree. Different show entirely.
Loved this show. Caruso was awesome.
I thought the actor from "Saved by the Bell" - Uh didn't quite work.
It's too bad he only lasted a season out of all of Andy's partners Kelly kicked ass
I've always wondered what building that is that is getting demolished at :33
I really enjoy the Pliot episode which was directed by either Greg Hobblit or Amy Brenenman's husband Brad Siberling.
추억.
그립다.
Don’t move! NYPD!
David Caruso before he was on CSI: Miami.
As a turkish guy this series made me learn english 👍
My fav cop show of all time. Blue bloods is good but thus to me by far is the best crime drama period thats just my opinion.
Why do several shots in the credit sequence appear to be in the wrong aspect ratio? The first shot, the B&W street shot before Nicholas Turturro, there's a couple more in there as well.
DAVID CARUSO
you are my Mr.Right❤
NYC was extremely dangerous in the 90s
David caruso ha lavorato con richard gere nel film ufficiale gentiluomo e poi con stallone rambo
Caruso thought he was so arrogant thinking when left the show it would go downhill and canceled after 2 seasons oh how he was
미국인들이 아직 제정신이었던 시절에 나왔던 걸작.
after november 1998 nypd blue declined slightly because of bobby simone's passing
Boy meets world brought me her.
Hi
NYPD season 10 the venekos danger
Podrían subirla al español ó traducirla digo. Se le agradece
The black kid in the red was in the opening credits all 12 seasons anyone know who he is?
They said shit on Cop Drama
nypd blue was better before jimmy smits entered from october 1994.
Hernandez Jeffrey Young Mary Garcia James
Forgot how annoying video editing was in the 90s

Never liked Caruso. Jimmy Smits was so much better.
Back when NYC was cool. Not anymore.
