    From Clint Eastwood comes “The 15:17 to Paris,” which tells the real-life story of three men whose brave act turned them into heroes during a highspeed railway ride.
    In the early evening of August 21, 2015, the world watched in stunned silence as the media reported a thwarted terrorist attack on Thalys train #9364 bound for Paris-an attempt prevented by three courageous young Americans traveling through Europe. The film follows the course of the friends’ lives, from the struggles of childhood through finding their footing in life, to the series of unlikely events leading up to the attack. Throughout the harrowing ordeal, their friendship never wavers, making it their greatest weapon and allowing them to save the lives of the more than 500 passengers on board.
    The heroic trio is comprised of Anthony Sadler, Oregon National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos, and U.S. Air Force Airman First Class Spencer Stone, who play themselves in the film. Starring alongside them are Jenna Fischer (“Hall Pass,” TV’s “The Office”); Judy Greer (“War for the Planet of the Apes”); Ray Corasani (TV’s upcoming “The Long Road Home”); PJ Byrne (“The Wolf of Wall Street”); Tony Hale (TV’s “Veep”); and Thomas Lennon (“Transformers: Age of Extinction”). Paul-Mikél Williams plays the younger Anthony, Bryce Gheisar plays the younger Alek, and William Jennings plays the younger Spencer.
    Eastwood (“Sully,” “American Sniper”) directs from a screenplay by Dorothy Blyskal, based on the book by Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, Spencer Stone and Jeffrey E. Stern. Eastwood also produces the film, along with Tim Moore, Kristina Rivera and Jessica Meier. The film’s executive producer is Bruce Berman.
    Behind the scenes, the creative team includes frequent collaborators Tom Stern, who served as cinematographer on 13 of Eastwood’s previous films, and Deborah Hopper, who has served as Eastwood’s costume designer on 17 prior films; editor Blu Murray, who most recently cut “Sully,” and that film’s composer, Christian Jacob. Veteran art director Kevin Ishioka, whose work can be seen in “Sully” and in “Dunkirk,” serves as production designer.
    Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Malpaso production, “The 15:17 to Paris.” The film will be released in theaters on February 9, 2018. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

    This is actually quite unique. Getting the actual Heroes of this true story to play themselves in the film. Clint Eastwood changing the game again.

      It hasn't been done like this before. Using real people in supporting roles - which is what Harold Ford was in 'The Best Years Of Our Lives' or the cameo of Ira Hayes, Rene Gagnon and John Bradley in in the flag raising scene of 'Sands of Iwo Jima' - is a long standing tradition in Hollywood movies. But to cast the actual heroes not as supporting players but as the main leads in the film might be something quite new. I can't think of any precedents offhand.

      It shows to but that's not what makes this movie suck. I admire Eastwood for using the actual guys but whoever wrote the screenplay failed big time. My understanding is it was adapted from a book the guys made of their account. Maybe it worked for the book but it did not work for the movie at all. I'm not overstating this and I watch a lot of movies this might be the worst film I've seen in 10 years. The last 15-20 minutes are the only thing worth watching.

      I hate how americans always got to overdo everything, i hate how cinema has become less and less original and americanlike. Classic american propaganda, when are americans going to fund a movie about the Bataclan attacks and the heroism of the french people who delt with it ? Oh my bad, there were no americans involved that day, they don't get to brag and bring their filthy culture in the spotlight...

    The ad makes it look really good. It’s not. The script is terrible. The actors aren’t great. And it just drags. Like, so much. And the train part is literally only on for like the last 5 minuets of the film. The rest of the movie is them just being late for class all the time and having pointless conversations about shit whilst they travel around places. And it’s a bit confusing at times in the way that new characters will appear and then all of a sudden they’ll just go and there’s no context to where they went or anything. Which personally, I didn’t like. The only thing I liked about this movie were the camera shots that had been used.
    So overall I thought the movie was really bad and I found it very boring.
    But go see it if you want! 😬🤷🏼‍♀️😂😂

    Sure makes one wonder how they would react in a similar situation doesn't it? Would you hide (no shame in that) or would you "go for broke"? I often times ask myself what I would do. These men reacted. Was it training? Divine intervention? Adrenaline? Who knows. I would hope that I would have the courage to act but unless put in that situation I will never know. So cool to see that these three guys are getting the recognition they deserve. When this attack happened I was working at a Jamba Juice in Sacramento, the one that Spencer Stone worked at a few years before. He was still on good terms with my managers and came into the store on my day off which I was super bummed about.
    They all went out for drinks in downtown Sac and Spencer was stabbed by a man for defending one of my managers. Obviously he's all good.
    Just a cool little thing to know that I was only one person away from knowing this hero and his friends! Can't wait to see this film.

  • @cjaviercheng
    @cjaviercheng 4 года назад +9

    The film missed to point out that the first hero, the first guy to step up, was the guy who got shot. That’s why he got shot in the first place - he wrestled with the terrorist and tried to take away the shotgun. He was the first to notice something was amiss before the attack and he acted on it.
    In real life, did they actually fail to recognize him?

      They were not even the first to tackle the gunman, the first being a Frenchman and were three of seven people. But as usual, Americans are going to take all the credit, like all their war movies. Just disgusting.

    • @BobaDavis
      @BobaDavis 6 лет назад +117

      To be fair, the Frenchman was the first to respond, but he was subdued. The body of the work was done by those 3 men, regardless of their nationality - It just so happens that they were Americans. So yeah, the story is easily made around them.

    • @Harrison5ived
      @Harrison5ived 6 лет назад +24

      Dude 'the people that actually subdued the guy' included more than just the 3 Americans. There were 6-7 in total, including a 62 year old Brit who used his necktie to tie the asshole up. Funny thing is they used the real 3 Americans to make this move, so they themselves knew when Clint yelled "action" and filmed them doing it all on their own - they would've known that's not how it actually went down. but whatever, right?

    These men are real heroes. Unfortunately they are not qualified actors. Nor is their story long enough for a feature length film. Not sure if writing was bad or they actually tried to re-create their actual conversations throughout the vacation sequence. Childhood scenes were the best executed but the least relevant.
    Cannot recommend the movie.

      Le Pa *MILD SPOILERS* Acting was pretty bad. A lot of scenes didn't make any sense as in there was no point for it even being there because it added nothing to the events. Childhood flashbacks were dragged out and characters were introduced poorly. They kept switching the scenes from what happened on the train to the events leading up to the main characters boarding it. If you didn't watch this trailer like I hadn't, you wouldn't understand what this movie was about until there was about 15 minutes left of the movie. This movie was pretty much a biography gone wrong. Almost comical for how bad it was. 2/10 for me.

    My sister and I loved the movie and thank Clint Eastwood for using the real heroes! We had not been to see a movie since "Sully." This kind of heroism is what kids need to see, not the robots, vampires, machine guns, explosions, and car chases of violent fantasies. These three wonderful young men show the example that each of us CAN make a difference no matter what our background. They were not the smartest nor the best students growing up, but they had loving, Christian mothers who formed their inner cores. Clint Eastwood had the insight to see that he could not duplicate the bond that these three have by using actors. Well worth seeing this great tribute to real heroism.

      I will admit it was not Clint Eastwood's best movie. It had potential in terms of a good story but the plot was unfocused and it seems they we're more concerned with a film that was like real to life in it's dialogue and the way it unfolded. Reality is not like drama in being a sequence of structure/plots that correlate to a conclusion that builds up. The film was meant to be a way people really are and the way life unfolds but that does not translate well to cinema. The acting at times felt like a made for network film. Had they chose to give the book to a better screenwriter and chose some experienced actors it could of been something especially with the subplot about how Stone seemed to have been building up in preparation for the gear he would be in the abstract clockwork of life. They chose to be experimental and dropped the ball but I will say there were some glimmers of good catharsis in the film. Besides the point all these men are real heros and celluloid or digital does not need to justify that projection.

    If you are looking for a Jason Bourne movie, you'll be disappointed. It moves slowly at first as we go through the background of the three young men but it helps to understand their friendship and motivations. To watch to movie and realize that you are watching the guys that actually pulled off this heroic feat adds an extra dimension to the film. Kind of like watching 'To Hell and Back' with Audie Murphy. No, not the worlds greatest actor, but the guy that actually did all this stuff.

      Probably because the main characters were played by the main characters. If you don’t know what that means, it means Spencer Stone was played by Spencer Stone (himself). Many things happen throughout the Movie. It shows the childhood of the main characters, and shows their time in the military, (and of course the rising action to the main event which the film is based around). If you don’t like the acting, then watch a movie that is casted with actual actors. If you don’t like the WHOLE story then you might as well just watch the climax. I haven’t seen the movie in a while, but I do remember many things happening throughout the movie, like when the Spencer’s friend moves away which brings his emotions down, when there is an alarm at the military base and Spencer decides to wait at the door with a pen and a terrorist walks into the train with a gun and the main characters disarm him. The two out of two out of five things I agree with are the last two points you made. The script is quite forced and generic, which I genuinely expected because it is a Clint Eastwood movie that is based off a true story which have been quite dull lately. And yes, not everything should be made into a movie. Some people might want a film of Lou Reed, or David Bowie, rising to fame and might be expected to have a good plot because rising to fame has a simple line. The start to finish isn’t exactly start to finish and over. Of course there has to be obstacles and fascinating things that have actually happened in that line. But if you don’t add the obstacles to the film, it’s not going to be a very successful movie. (Is anyone actually reading this?) I’m going to use companies as an example. I certainly don’t think companies should have movies about them either, unless there is a important story behind the company. There isn’t a story behind Höfner, so a movie wouldn’t be necessary and it will just feel like the entire movie is leading up to a story but ends just suddenly. But Movies like ‘The Founder’ or ‘Wall Street: Money never sleeps’ do have stories around them and don’t feel like nothing. I think if you want to watch a movie which rises into a single climax ‘15:17 to Paris’ is a great film for you. But if you want to watch something else, watch ‘The Matrix’ or ‘The Martian’. All in all, I can see you point of view and I hope you can see mine.
