I used to use a Drobo for a nas. Lost a ton of data - drives were ok. Drobo gave me the middle finger - switched to unRaid over 5 years ago. Have had a drive or two fail, but no data loss. I do have backups of important stuff - cloud and another unRaid server.
For the Mwave distance thingy I would pair with an LED strip and put it in my garage, so the light illuminates in steps as my car drives into the garage and goes red when im at the perfect parking spot! Were constantly hitting reverse to see the backup cameras to make sure we've cleared the garage doors
The RUclips channel ResignChemTech already realised this project (Esp based Parking Sensor) with a laser sensor and it works quite great. I‘ve deployed it over a year ago and it’s still working. There’s also a Git repository and a video associated with it :)
One way to slow down the data is to slow down the polling rate (if possible). Say that the polling rate is 1/1000 of a second, reduce it to 1/10 of a second. I don't know if it's possible, but that would definitely reduce the data volume
I'm confused. What does a stick of RAM being rated at 4000 have to do with anything? It should run just fine at slower speeds (unless it really is just a bad stick, but you seem to infer the problem is that it's rated for 4000).
Make it to measure the distance of your car in the garage. It can replace the tennis ball method where people need to use something to make sure their car is fully parked in the garage and clear in the front and back.
Have you considered running frigate. Once I heard that BlueIris is purely a windows based system, was not on the map for me. I use Windows on a couple of system. Too resource hungry and updating too often and requiring reboot. Over the years, have had HDD go bad. Nothing as bad as the last run with WD. Eight drives in three months. Only three were just still in warranty. One of the replacement drives went bad two later and had to replace it. Also had two WD SSDs go from 0 to 100% wear-out in about 30 days and the drive was just installed (powered) not being used.
Wait… Threadripper supports ecc ram so why aren’t you using it? With everything that your running in a hypervisor without ecc ram you have no idea if your having errors from bit flip…
Hello,Jason.Would you please just do unbox video of sample ULNA wifi bridge? Or we can send you a shipping label to send it back.We have waited for over 8 months.
I think I've been watching you for 4 years at this point, and one thing that has always concerned me about your builds is that you are doing enterprise things on consumer hardware. I can tell you that you can consolidate what you're doing and use enterprise hardware and save a ton of money on power and have the reliability of enterprise gear.
OK... For the device, a doggie door? Server area lights is a good concept and idea, since you have a server room, maybe you could wave your hand in a specific direction for the lights to stay on and after a time frame of no movement they would go off, that could save on energy costs also. Incorporating the Crestron touch pad, make make the movement in different directions for turning off lights, arming the security, setting the coffee machine for morning perk, remote starting your car even!! Maybe even turning solar panels toward the sun?? If you were to setup sensors for each room, maybe something with that, lights, fans, music. I will be watching to see if you try any of my ideas. I enjoy your videos, thanks for trying the stuff I would like to try. If you ever get back into Plex stuff again, it would be nice to see you start a new plex server with some of the new stuff that is out now, or VR stuff. Thanks again.
if your running 13900k intel everyone is having problems with the cpu destroying itself so do not run intel cpus go amd and you will not have any probs i saw on your screen a 13900k might be your probs . there slowly pulling there cpus from data centers i read
curious. are you using powerline conditioners? Seems like your system failure rate is higher than normal with your various servers/nas Possibly spikes and dirty power source can cause issues like this
Check if your drives are older then 3 years. WDDA(Western Digital Device Analytics) marks them bad after 3 years apparently. Drives are most likely fine but WD makes no money from you keeping your drives.
- Direction of velocity: Put it in a doorway and tell if people are entering/exiting the room, turn on lights in the room they are moving towards. - Distance: Useful for creating zones in larger rooms. - Energy: Probably best way to differentiate between humans and animals. Small energy readings can be ignored.
i sold my synology for the exact same reason. one minute everything was fine, then out of the blue it started crashing but still saying that drives are ok.
So synology has a “life span” on there drives of like 7 years… when it hits that long on smart it says it’s degraded spacerex and nascompares did a video about it it’s called WDDA as far as SAS yes the number is how many drives and I is for internal and e is for external
so why do you care if you light dim and get brighter. Are you just to lazy to tell alexa to turn on your lights, or you hate switches? yeah this is dumb. And my backups are backed up. See you in the next vid.
Cause its a fun challenge. But, I have recessed lighting around my house..what if as someone waked around the house, lights slowly dimmed up and down? I unno. I just like to tinker lol

Backups? My backup is hoping nothing dies 😂
Awww the ring lights in Jason’s eyes are soooooo purrtty!!! Lol
I thought i'm watching "Detroit! Become Human" game for seconds lol

No button to see the backup camera without going into reverse?

You should run spinrite across the drives
I concur using Spinrite from Gibson Research
One thing I can think of that you could do with the LED strip is a parking sensor in your garage? At least for practice?

0:50 "so I've heavily relied on Chat GPT"
There's your problem right there.
I agree

Where did you get the LED strips?

It should be set up to be red if there is an issue you need to attend to, green if everything is good.
Considering your ambition for messing with electrical infrastructure in your home, I might highlight the "1" in the 3-2-1 backup rule.
Put the glass bed in the freezer for about 5 minutes and they fall right off.
Hello,Jason.Would you please just do unbox video of sample ULNA wifi bridge? Or we can send you a shipping label to send it back.We have waited for over 8 months.
You doing ok Jason? Hands are pretty shaky, hope everything is ok!
What you are trying to do is awesome. You may need to consider using Python and bypass HA.

Parking aid for my girlfriend to prevent her running into my freezer in the garage.
I believe i remember another youtuber spacerex having a video about synology and WD drives being marked bad when they were not
I get paid a lot of money to tell companies to check their backups. Good times.
Try some hair spray on the glass plate it helps release the print when finished.

Touchscreen for when entering the basement.

whats the model of the crestron?

I did have a dirty UPS that I have recently decommissioned..
For the sensor thing, you should looking into wire wrap, it makes it so much easier with not having to solder as well as not having solder break.
The 3080 will be choked for air.
Xpenology dawg, telling you....

A drive in my 10TB Raid0 stopped working.
Thought it was the drive, it wasn't still works fine.
It was the power connector and cables bent to sharp.

Timmy fell in the well
try different voltages as a step up/ down, instead of the hue thing.
i sold my synology for the exact same reason. one minute everything was fine, then out of the blue it started crashing but still saying that drives are ok.
Last backup was 3 days ago, but you're right, I should get some more drives, just in case 👀👀
Early signs of Parkinson's or alcohol withdrawls???

Energy readings could possibly differentiate between multiple people
they make M.2 NVME to MINI SAS 36 PIN SFF-8087
Did anyone go whoa when he placed the 3080 down on the carpet?
No
wow your eyes are like supercell :D
Yo!!!
REAL men don't take backups, they sit in a corner and cry like a 4 year old.
You really need to cut back on the energy drinks mang. You hand shakes are real bad..
almost first :(
garage parking sensors
on demand night lights
package delivery sensor
mail delivery sensor
trailer hookup assist

@@Bytemybits I figured it was that, but I don't like lights. I have all my house lights off almost all the time. Even at night. Good luck tho!
I think it’s fun. I think positional dimming is a good idea.
