I recently discovered your channel and I confess that I really like it. I arrive in New York tomorrow, I'll follow your tips especially on the subway (I'm apprehensive). A big hug!
Used to live in Jackson Heights Roosevelt and 88th St, went to PS 89 up until the third grade and they used to bring us on field trips to Louis's, then moved to Flushing by Flushing Highschool and would always go to Amore starting all the way back when Stop and Shop was still Pathmark and there was an arcade by where the Popeyes is now, and now Philomena's is my preferred spot to go for a pie and some beers with my friends. It's wild to see the three of them in this video.
Also if you're in the area of Amore Nick's hot dogcart is right there too. Really old school hot dog cart that sells hot dogs, hot sausages, and shish kebobs, he used to be on Main St by the church before he was forced to move, awesome guy my sister used to take me to him on the way home when I was a small kid to get hot dogs and shish kebobs on the way home from school and now I take her son there to get shish kebobs. If I'm in the area I always stop by for a couple lamb shish kebobs with everything on it.
Raised in Queens, live in Manhattan, people don't believe me Queens has some of the best pizza slices. Lucia's Pizza in Flushing is awesome too.

Raised in Queens, live in Brooklyn...but Queens has some of the best pizza. My favorite is New Park Pizza in Howard Beach. Queens also has the best diners. Love my Brooklyn, but gots to give food props to Queens.

When I was in NYC recently for a holiday from Aus I was fortunate enough to get a prebooking of Chrissy’s Pizza and man, the pizza was fantastic!
NY pizza is something else, I miss it so much.
Chrissy's is not the typical NY slice its upper tier.

There are some hidden gems in Queens. Every time I visit Citifield with my nephew, we make it a point to hit Amore Pizza before the game. 😃👍

Excellent video! I used to live in Sunnyside and it’s a wonderful, low key place. Tons of different types of restaurants too. Miss it.
That whole plaza with Amore's is a go-to place for workers going up and down the Van Wyck for food. Uncle Bill's Diner-good breakfasts. King's Chef (go read the articles posted in there) for chinese.
Grandma slices are one of my favorites. I enjoy a saucy pizza. L&B is the original though. It’s tough to beat.
Queens is a giant spread out area and there are some stellar pizza spots. Amore is one of the upper tier pizzerias.

Jon, nicely done as always. As a guy who grew up in Bayside Queens, I really miss the New York slice. We have alot of Italian restaurants here in South Florida, but they still don't hold a candle to the New York slice. Keep up the good work, and send my best to Adriana, and the baby. :)

Florida pizza is completely underrated . There are great pizza shops all over south Florida . Many NYC a Italian transplants

I wish these guys would visit SI pizza joints we have great pizza as well as good as any other borough but yeah we have the best pizza in the country, NYC baby can't go wrong no matter which borough you go to! I love how compared to other states, you can get any pizza here in NYC from thin crust to grandma to sicilian style with every kind of topping imaginable lol.
Another great place in Manhattan - Vito’s Slices and Ices! Fresh slices and homemade Italian ice, perfect every time! Found it when we were staying around the corner, now Vito’s is the reason we keep going back!!

So what you missed is Forest Hills. We have so many pizza shops and they all stay in business. We have good pizza, very good pizza and excellent pizza. My son and I have gotten the same thing in 15 different pizza shops that we could walk to from our home. A few years ago a shop named Austin Street pizza opened. It's as good as anything I've had and some of it is next level.

I envy the US for that kind of fluffy, airy, doughy pizza. The closest I ever got to it was a pizza place in my hometown in Germany that sold pizza squares for 1 euro. Loved that stuff.

You ought to check out Gaby’s on Hillside Avenue in Queens Village. Excellent pizza!

Amore is a legendary spot. I’ve been going there for decades. In fact, the whole strip mall is legendary. There used to be a Blockbuster on the otherside of the parking lot that I used to go to. The Pathmark which eventually became a Stop N Shop. And close to the movie theater which was perfect.
Flushing used to have A LOT of pizzerias. Many of them closed down. Barones, Al Dente (the sign is still up though after all these years), Gloria’s Pizza, all closed down. There was another one near Lucia’s that also closed down. Flushing wasn’t always a Chinatown. Growing up here in the 90’s, it was pretty mixed.

You're killing me...... I just had gastric bypass surgery 3 months ago...... Probably won't be having pizza for a little while, but these all look so good. Also, I live in Jackson Heights. I always say that we have some of the best food in the world unless you want a burger or a slice of pizza. We got a couple good burger joints opened up in the last few years, but I've always struggled with pizza, and turns out Louie's is probably a 10/15 minute walk from my place. Wish I knew about that place well before this. Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely send family and friends there, and I might have to get that ribeye.
From Flushing Queens. Amore has some of the best pizza anywhere. The owner of Whitestone Lanes tried selling a few years ago (unsuccessfully). Now plans to demolish the bowling alley and build an apartment complex.
It's going to be difficult to decide which of these pizza places I will try Jon !

You kill me every time you go for pizza…. I’m a Bronx guy. Pelham Bay. But living overseas for awhile now. Villa Barone at the end of the 6 train used to be my spot. But they closed. Then there’s Sal’s in mamaroneck is awesome. I also lived in Rutherford NJ in the 70s and a place called mama Rosa. Slices back then were $0.35 !! Keep letting me live vicariously through you for pizza til I get back

Amore's is very good. You can't go wrong there. The only grandma slice/pie worth talking about is King Umberto's in Elmont. Luigi's on 5th Ave. in Brooklyn is my #1. I love good neighborhood pizza. I'm not crazy about all the hipster spots that have popped up over the last 10 years.

If you know any pizza entrepreneurs from the New York area, tell them we need a New York pizza place in downtown Portsmouth. New Hampshire. It's a restaurant capital, so they should do well. Lots of tourists here
You should be using Whitestone in Queens or what ever place the pizza is located in. Queens a big place and while growing up in New York we always used the neighborhood location to identify the area. Other example everyone knows the Mets play in Flushing. NY and it was that way back in 1964.
