I was watching the part about the EZ Paellas & Tappas & I started crying. I just felt Ben's presence so strongly as if he was filming you & about to share the food. I miss him so much, he will never be forgotten. That last place you went looked like a great experience & nice to see Lady A back. She looked beautiful.
Who's Ben and what happened?
@@0741921 Ben was Jon's young camera man and good friend. He developed blood cancer and valiantly fought it but died a short while ago. 💔
His former camera person.. unfortunately he passed away due to cancer. God bless him and his family@@0741921
@@0741921ben passed away from cancer in July 2023. There's a video dedicated to his memory on this channel, it was released about two months back. Ben was Jon's companion and camera man for a number of videos on this channel.
Aww thanks. We all miss him.
Ben is having a moment while tasting those churros, I already know it. 🥺 We miss you Ben the camera man, in paradise 🙏🏽💜
What you said about the $1 NYC slice was eye opening. I guess I never thought that many people with kids needing a quick snack or those delivering food needing a quick bite is really a service to the community/city. As someone who lives in another state and is looking to be a tourist, your comments on the importance of the $1 slice helps to remind me that people actually LIVE in the city. (:
That $50 meal for two is a great deal for the quality.
50$ for that amount of food is criminal... but hey I guess its normal in NYC
it's so interesting how that expensive place was serious but also so not serious at the same time, good mix of high end food with what seems like a fun atmosphere
I believe those $1 pizza places are not going anywhere for awhile. Those $1s add up 😀
🙌🏼
Pizza was 1 dollar in the nineties everywhere anyway
most of them have turned into $1.50 slice spots
That Le Petit Cafe experience looked amazing. It’s not often I am impressed by a dining experience I see on YT but that looked very good.
I know I say it a lot, but thank you Jon. You made moving to NYC easy and I fit in within a week of moving here thanks to your tips. Almost a year in now and loving it
Happy to help!
My love for NYC only kept getting higher and higher throughout this video which I enjoyed very much. This was a great experience. Thank you 💓
Excellent spot you guys ❤ food looked marvelous @Here Be Barr 😊
Good job man, that EZ Paella Spanish/Venezuelan fusion restaurant seems like a good value. As a Spaniard I am glad you said that is not a "traditiional" paella, hence the fusion theme of the restaurant. Still looked pretty good hearty food.
Thanks for bringing this great spots.
Thank you so much for sharing Le Petit Chef experience with us! That looked so cool (too expensive for me) but very cool!
Watch Jon get a little blizzard towards the end 😂 love it!
The $1 slice is dying out. I love 2 Bros actually. They put actual real veggies on their veggie pizza. Love it
That was so great. Thanks again as always. At last count on our visits we have eaten at 7 places you have recommended in your videos. More to come.
EZPaella is one of our favourites. Great value and amazing unique food.
Five out of five stars to John for creativity. This was so interesting. Great Job and thank you. God Bless Ben
This was a great tour of these establishments. Quite the contrast. Thanks for sharing this. Cheers, Jon! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
Also love the variety of paella because it usually includes items thati dont eat. Love how you can cuatomize it to what you like.
The king & queen of NY 🫅🤴
Agree
I been tryna make it out the hood so on my RUclips channel i do food reviews while I’m high cx
Nice review Jon! You can't beat the dollar slice in a jam, however Le Petit Chef looks like an incredible experience! And, who doesn't love tapas🤷♂️🤷♂️3 great picks sir!
I'm very new to your channel - but I'm curious did you and your wife meet in NYC? If so, I'd love to see a few videos of restaurants of your first few dates - do you recall the meals?
As an NYC resident (12 years; but born / raised about 75 minutes outside of Manhattan) - I really enjoy your videos.
Looks like you were really feeling that wine. LOL
Great video!! I really enjoyed watching Le Petit Chef!!
Wow….what a contrast in offerings ❤. Loved them all. The expensive place is very over the top, I did enjoy it, but I’d spend over $200 on other things. I was very happy to,watch you and Adriana enjoy the meal
Amazing food tour! Love the different price point comparisons!
Glad you enjoyed!
Amazing video! Omy wants to go now to le petit cheff!
Go for it!
OMG! Le Petit Chef going on my list for next visit to NY
What a great experience..loved this video.
John is the best. He really gets it. Like he's such a talent being on the ground and making and interacting with not a scene but soaking in the whole environment. Like what a gem. Combined so many different spheres of culture s. 🎉🎉🎉
Great video brodie
wow just found out that Ben the cameraman died, such sad news I always loved his take on the places and food that you guys reviewed. RIP BROTHER💔💔
The $200 French meal reminds me of Journey NYC in your futuristic restaurants video. I guess this sort of multimedia experience with your meal is a thing. Personally, it's not for me. Seems a little cheesy, and isn't the point of dining out to converse with the people you are with not watch some cartoon show going on around you? I'd rather spend that money at a nice quiet restaurant with great atmosphere.
Still miss Ben in these food videos. RIP Camera Man. But it's great to see Adriana joining you in this one!
I know Ben would have gotten a TRUE kick out of the last spot.
There is so many amazing restaurants in NYC Jon !
The immersive restaurant was really neat. It would be really nice if they made a second version of it that wasn’t fine dining in order to make it more affordable for the average person. Of course, a dining experience with an extra level of immersion will always be more money than a regular old restaurant, but if the food were more of a mid-tier pricing quality but with those special effects, that would be really cool
Thanks for turning me on to EZ Paella - we went on Friday night before our show (Little Shop of Horrors) and it was delicious! The wait food was amazing, the staff was incredible nice and attentive. The owner came out and talked to us as well. It was our first night in NYC and just a pleasant experience. Your videos helped us a lot with a rough plan on our first trip
P.S. Thought we got the chance to run into you there, but it was just your brother :) haha
Thanks, he told me someone was there from the channel.
Looks delicious 😋
That interactive dinner was amazing. Very Disney.
Dollar slice kept me alive during the pandemic. I had to work during the pandemic.
Dude scored way out of his league. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Good one, Jon.
When my wife and I were in NYC last year, our lunches were less than $15 for two of us and breakfast was included with hotel cost. For dinner though, I think our most expensive meal was just under $300 at Del Frisco's. My coworker used to wait tables there and hooked us up with their best waiter and went all out. These are all great ideas for our next trip. Appreciate it!
Wish we had something like $1 pizza in Toronto. I guess we used to have $1 Caribbean patties but not with this inflation lol
That paella place looks really affordable for Midtown Manhattan!
Yeah $1 pizza is wild
That's the LAST 1.00 pizza in NYC..they all raised it to at least 1.50 most now 2.00 for the cheapo slice with almost no cheese. It;'s just dough for 1.50
Jon
Cool video of you and your wife Adrianna.
Any for me would be a meal for $50 including drink and 20% tip.
Sorry the 200 dollar meal isn't for me.
We once add this type of meal on a cruise.we both enjoyed it very different
My favorite was the $50 tapas/paella meal . It looked delicious !! My son had some $1 slices on our recent visit. He enjoyed it. I passed as I had the most delicious slice ever the previous day in Brooklyn and did not want to ruin my memory. 😂
Home cooking is always the best
That crazy
Another great video! I love visiting NY, do it almost yearly and have enjoyed so many great places thanks to you. Now was that $271 per person or for both of you? Sorry if i didn't catch it if you said it😂, anyway it does seem like a very cool and unique experience!
There used to be a dollar pizza place at 44th and Thrid right by the old Hampton jitney stop. I lost count of how many dollar slices I had there. Was it great? No, but it wasn’t terrible either and it was always hot and ready to go. I miss that place
Pizza is like sex. Even if they're bad. It's good lol
@@PhillipG34 😂😂
Should’ve gone to a Michelin rated restaurant for $200 instead, that French restaurant was very gimmicky. Too touristy for a real NYer.
John is pretty judgmental and he liked it, if you can afford it then why not?
12:33 not the warm ganouche 💀
That Le Petit Chef experience looked awesome! Too bad I travel solo, it is definitely not geared toward single individuals.
I ordered a water color from your better half. I think it comes today!!! 😊
Hey can you do a video about where is uptown midtown and downtown and what activities and restaurants are there. Do we take the train from downtown to uptown or is it walking distance ? I have a lot of questions and I’m really trying to plan a trip
La petite chef is also on certain celebrity cruise ships.
Lol, on Long Island in the 80's, our after school snack was some Pathmark sheet pizza, found in the refrigerated section, or chicken Maruchan ramen soup... Both were very acceptable.
😊❤
***Whaaaaat a great treat during the continued meals, especially the last one. 😋 👍👏🌻❤️
It's good idea
Pizzzaaa!
espectacular
How drunk at end 😂
Le Petite Chef looks incredible- but I have a life threatening seafood/fish allergy so I guess I’ll never be able to go there 😢
I do not eat lobster and they made a sub for me.
Que buena se ve la comida
grand central pizza good.. my work area
I prefer the dollar slice in the middle of the street instead of the fine dining 😅
I'm a big fan of the dollar slice when I'm heading to GCT. The place on Lexington always seems a little better to me than the 1 you were at. Also, that was rice with stuff, not paella. It may have been, but I wouldn't want people who don't know what real paella is to think that is it
2 slices a meal 3 meals a day and 1 slice for a snack in between is $7 a day for food. If you need to save for a month or 2 this option is great. 😊
Every time I make the same mistake with your videos Jon. Mental note : DO NOT WATCH WHILST EVEN MILDLY HUNGRY. 😋
😂😂😂
& John, keep your head up. I can hear the sadness in your voice. May this, you making videos for us, not turn into torture for you. 🙏🏽💜 We wouldn't want that.
Give me the first two options over the third any day.
Last time we ate at the Marquis rotating restaurant it was buffet. Lol. 175 a person and there was 8 of us.
I feel like you are a bit tipsy after that 😅
Hahahaha Jon was wasted at the end
Brought the wife to the expensive one. Smart man
Dollars are valuable. Value your dollars.
That $1 pizza looked good af tho
Good job but id do the upper mid range like a havana central red rooster the very decisive shellys restaurants like tratorria del arte redeye or brooklyn diner
Or a rue 57 or virgils the 100-150 for 2 places
Cuz those are the backbone of ny dining
Honestly petit chef im not a fan of the gimmick gives me nightmares of the tourist trap theme joints of the 90s
For 200 i dont need a cartoon between courses
I need the best of the best
271 for both or each?
that paella for 50 dollars looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy overpriced for what it is.
Is this 200 per person?
steep... 50 bucks n that is considered special too
My man really struggles with alcohol 😂😂
Hope the dollar pizza place doesn't go away for awhile
Cash only = no tax paid. That's how you get your cheap food.
2 people lmaaaaaaao, i would eat that in 5min and be hungry AF
Do you feed your camera man?
Nice show case... calling 200$ tasting menu most expensive is stretch. We have 3 star michelin places like Sushi Masa which costs 1000$ for their tasting menu. 200$ to 300$ tasting menus are everywhere in Manhattan. Of course most of those places take months to get a reservation and probably won't allow filming.
Esquisit 😅
Where the hell are you finding a slice of pizza for a dollar!?
Where are you froom?
was that $271.00 for 2 or each?? if it was for 2 that's very inexpensive!! even for 1 seems pretty fair !!
If you go on their website it’s actually $271 per person not for 2 guests.
Per person w tax and tip
Le Petit Chef looked like a decent meal for the price only if factoring in the space/view and if the wines were very good and paired well. There was also barely anything specifically French about that meal. The main issue is their use of multimedia seemed tacky and very tourist targeted. I think it also distracts from the presentation of the food. There are definitely places with more interesting & unique dishes, or that are actually well-executed French, that are more dignified and let you feel the character of New York, whether more or less casual, for about the same money or less. IMO, if you want the view, go to a bar with one, then have a serious meal someplace where the money goes into the interior space and food.
Was the Petit chef $200 per person?
Yep
Tip at 25% and tax comes out to 279
😊😊😊😊😊
In montreal canada 1 $ not existe
That’s not paella. Not moving the paella around is the 1st law of paella makers
pizza at grand central if not $1
😘🥰🤟🤟🤟
$271 was for one or two people meals?
Lmfao he is drunk after the 200+ diner
repping BANGLADESH🐅🐅🐅🐅
