    Sweet! Now got to wait till they get cheap enough to afford one! LoL my 2006 cobalt L61 coupe F23(I'm first owner) is getting a little long in the tooth(need head gasket, chain guide and timing chain, rough times, rough times). Is anybody giving a crew cab regular bed(6') away? My daughter would love to have more rear seat room. LoL she's getting to big for my little coupe and 4wd would be great in the Alaskan winters!

    Interesting video. Speaking of MAP sensors, the sensor in a stock truck with no catch can and running EGR quickly gets "goo'd over". I can't imagine a MAP sensor covered in a thick layer of black tar is relaying good information to the ECM.
    What are you using for turbo hoses with all that boost? The flimsy made in China OEM hoses worry me at stock boost levels. A kit to adapt the "clip" type mounts on the intercooler with better silicone hoses in pretty colors would sell like hotcakes! Gimme gimme...

    Nice video. Please correct me if I am misunderstanding your info. I down graded to the 2.8L Canyon. I do not pull any longer, but after driving the Canyon I noticed the stall when accelerating. I am not after more power/torque, but to eliminate the stall and improve engine performance. The GM part change and the Stealth, when available, can solve my issue? Thank you.

    I've been using hp tuners, and it seems the ecu has a hard limit of 300kpa. How do you get around that? Scaling? 400kpa in the manifold but the ecu thinks it's 300? How did you scale the other tables?

    • @Duramaxtuner

      DOes HPT allow editing of the MAP linearization table? Have you rescaled it to the sensor?

    • @breoll86
      @breoll86 3 года назад

      @@Duramaxtuner HPT does allow you to modify the MAP Sensor linear and offset values. I have installed a Bosch 4 bar tmap sensor and scaled it accordingly, but the scanner still flat lines at anything above 300kpa. I understand there is much to be desired with HPT on this platform. I'm beginning to believe that the software is my issue.

  • @Silent_Shadow

    Does this apply to turbo diesel engines only or gas as well? By that I meam MAP sensor maxing out.

    • @Duramaxtuner
      @Duramaxtuner  7 месяцев назад

      @Silent_Shadow your map sensor has the possibility to reach its limit when you start adding modifications to increase airflow. i.e. aftermarket turbochargers. However, simply upgrading the flow characteristic of your stock intake system will not typically be enough to overload a factory MAP sensor. If you are just adding an aftermarket intake system you should have no need to upgrade.

    It pains me to see the use of butt connectors (and possibly the incorrect size ones; yellow is typically used on 10-12 gauge wire) on sensor wiring. In my many years at GM dealerships I am aware that GM approves of this use but my experience has proven butt connectors to have issues with long term reliability, especially on sensor wiring. The practice of soldering wire connections followed by 2 layers of shrink tubing (per GM exterior wiring repair standards) has shown to have more longevity and a cleaner look compared to 4 non staggered butt connectors.
    If we, as professional automotive repair technicians, are going to ever get past the stereotype of "grease monkey" or "mechanic" we need to show our level of expertise to the general public every chance we get.

      Soldered joints are more likely to break than a properly crimped joint with self-sealing heat-shrink. Any movement and a solder joint will split right at the edge of the solder. A crimped and sealed joint, on the other hand, will tolerate harness movement. There's a reason solder is not a common sight in motorsport or aviation.

    do you want to explain how the turbo can run away when the cal has vane angles and calculated turbo speeds limiters to prevent that EXACT situation?? Your vid comes over like the turb can run itself into a massive over speed in OEM form IF over the MAP sensor max is commanded. GM prevent that!! There are better upgrade MAPs available that don't require rewiring- straight drop in and play.
