- Опубликовано: 6 сен 2016
- Duramaxtuner's Nick Priegnitz and Jamie Kerley sit down and talk about the 2.8L Duramax.
The 2.8L Duramax tow capacity gives this medium-duty diesel a lot of street cred in the 6.6 & 6.7 worlds. With a hauling capacity of 5,000 pounds, it's easy to imagine the 2.8L as the perfect toy hauler. Along with plenty of towing power, you'll enjoy the kind of fuel economy the big boys can only dream of.
But the 2.8L isn't perfect. Don't forget the dead pedal.
That's why Duramaxtuner's 2.8L calibrations are considered a must-have. The tunes improve the dead pedal with a more responsive, fun-driving throttle. The four, switchable tunes give you the ability to shift an improved torque curve to accommodate your driving need: Optimized Stock (+10HP), Tow (+32HP/30 ft-lbs), Sport-Economy (+45HP/60 ft-lbs), and Performance (+52HP/80 ft-lbs).
Overall, the 2.8L is an impressive platform for diesel enthusiasts who don't need a full-size diesel truck. When combined with DT's 2.8L calibrations you've got the best of both worlds - power and fuel economy in a diesel.

I installed your guys sport/ Econ tune and trans tune, made a huge improvement! This truck feels like a real diesel now! Thank you guys for an awesome product!
Thank you very much I will pass your comment along!
What's the mpg?
Of course I will be watching this new little unit.
I agree. Not everyone needs the horsepower or torque of a large displacement diesel engine. Sometimes a small displacement diesel can do just fine for smaller loads.
Woke mine right up freakin great!
What was cost
There was no mention of the fuel economy on the econ-sport mode. I know folks are getting about 30 mpg without a tune... what MPG could a person expect to see with the tune? I know it varies per driver, but I tend to try and maximize my economy (that game we play with the computer to beat yesterday's score) and want to know a ball park number regarding economy. Thanks.
Could you ever do a tune for a 2019 Terrain SLT with the 1.6 diesel? We drive it about 200 miles a day and would love the economy tune
Gents, just an update. I have a 16' Colorado Z71 that I ordered. I now have 73,000 miles and I put about 90 miles a day on it. I put the Duramaxtuner in it after they released it and have not had any problems with anything related to the tuner. Had 2 NOX sensors go bad and a DEF pump replaced. Other than that.. GM has a solid winner! I say its better than advertised! I average 32.2 mpg each day. Its all highway but I cannot complain. Since I put in the tuner I have only used sport(#3) and performance(#4) on a occasion. It's a true match.. GREAT JOB DURAMAXTUNER!
How's is it holding up now, wait so did you not do a full delete and tune? Usually the delete means no more def right?
Does the belt driven oil pump scare you? Its whats keeping me from getting one
what do u guys think about the new L5P Duramax 910 lbs of twist.
Jim sorry I never called you my truck is in for warranty work on steering motor not sure when that will be fixed they can't get the parts ? I noticed on the bottom of the order sheet for the tuner it says something about speed increase yes or no what's that all about i'll give you a call next month after holidays thanks keep up the good work ✌️🇨🇦
but the oe will always be able to tell when the ecm/tcm's have be flashed and how many times
what were the mpg numbers?
My so far stock engine 2019 3500 with 2.8 Duramax Savanna Van outfitted with 1 ton Quigley 4X4 and raised roof Explorer package gets 21 MPG at 73 MPH with the 8 speed Allison. 1800 RPM at 73. Pulling 6,000 lbs of low resistance load in my open car hauler we averaged 14.8 going from Duluth, MN to Spokane, WA at freeway speed with a headwind. Coming back we averaged 16.6 for the same trip with a tail wind. 23,000 miles and loving the 2.8 thus far. Time will tell how it works out.
How did it handle towing in the hills? I have a 2500 Savana 2.8 diesel, haven't towed with it yet.
@@shanemulligan3571 The hills were no issue. I dropped to 60 miles an hour on the high steep passes, but I had let off and kept the RPM down to 2,000 via the manual mode in 6th gear.
Maybe a bigger intercooler? Could be a better work in hp increase?
What if u want to drive on tune 4 how long will it last for daily driving
If you live in California does it mess with the emissions?
Put that Duramax in the Nova! I’d love to do a Diesel Nova someday.
Stock engine can stand that extra power without a bad consecuences/?
On #4 you are matching the early 90's 454 chevy SS numbers in a 2.8. That's awesome
EGGINFOOLS with three times the mileage!
if u runnin a sweet ole 454 on a fuel fumes .. oopsie ... u can get 40-50MPG...
Research Tom Ogle and C. Pouge...
Yea but that 454 is a bomb waiting to be set free, its all there but returned. You can easily get that motor to 5-600hp
You can also compare apples to oranges, too.
Will this work on my 2019 canyon denali? Has 2.8 baby duramax
Can you tune a 2.5 diesel Duramax?
I have a question...I have a 2016 Colorado Diesel myself. What effect would tuning have on a non-deleted stock truck? Specifically DPF life. I'd love the way it drives stock, and the mileage it gets, but this has me very intrigued. Any insight from the HD world that applies to this question? Any insight from the miles you've put on your test truck?
The truck in the video is an emissions equipped truck. In fact, we do not sell anything that defeats the emissions equipment. That said, your Colorado will love our tunes. Check out our Facebook page and read some of the reviews. In regard to the DPF - we've found no difference in the regen cycle in a tuned versus an untuned 2.8L truck. Please give us a call and we can answer your questions in more detail. 815-568-7920.
Finally awesome
When you say lugging, Do you mean that the tune adjusts the shift points of the transmission or do you mean the extra hp will allow for the higher gear? If we had an option for a stick shift, this truck would be mine long ago.
The power will allow for a higher gear, the trans tuning does also help. However, the main function of TCM tuning is increased drive-ability and providing the ability to stretch your powerband.
Recommend the CX racing intercooler. Any towing with a tune will melt the stock plastic end tank intercooler.
- DT44 turbo
- CX racing intercooler
-Revmax torque converter
-Flopro exhaust & Motorops tuned with the sly wink of Duramax tuner. 4 bar map sensor
Thanks for the helpful tip! @ryanlogan2911
Let me know when the aftermarket has a solution for the belt driven oil pump.
Its the only thing that keeps me from buying one.
Hello, are you able to tune the 2018 and include the four positions switch?
We actually just added that support.
How does this effect a dealer warranty? Also does it work with an EGR/DPF delete kit? That is the plan for our ZR2 Duramax once the factory warranty has expired.
Tuning may affect your warranty so it's a good idea to check with your dealer. Some dealers are cool - others are not. However, if you tune the truck under warranty and there's a catastrophic failure of the transmission or engine, then the manufacturer would investigate to see if the engine has been tuned. In that case, you're screwed, probably. We've also had issues when the dealer automatically updates the calibration. That usually disables the new tune and requires an update from us. Yes, these little trucks work deleted. But we do not offer delete tuning for them or any diesel truck - we only tune emissions equipped trucks.
No business is going to advertise supporting deleted vehicles. That’s an open invitation for the EPA to investigate and fine businesses, especially with Democrats in charge.
@@Duramaxtuner hit the "wink" emoji twice if you actually offer emission deletes.
What does tuning mean? I currently have a 2002 2500 hd duramax. I dont need to tow as heavy a load as I use to. I want to get something with better mpg to use most of the time and use my 2500 when I need it. I have heard about 40 mpg but all i see on youtube is high 20s.
I got 30mpg on a 400 mile trip driving 70-75 in my zr2 with the mud tires
More baby d max videos! I can't wait to see this platform really take off! Curious what the power limits of the turbo will be before real heavy modding needs to happen
I agree. Diesel may not be for everyone, but I believe that those who need one, or want one, should be allowed that option. I'd prefer mine stock, but everyone is different. :)
Thanks for the comment. Let's see what we can do.
I've never understood why more light duty trucks aren't being offered with small displacement (2.0-3.0 litre) diesel engines. You see plenty of larger, heavy duty pickup trucks with 6.5 litres or larger diesel engines, but not everyone either needs or wants such large truck with such large diesel engine.
In our podcast with a GM Duramax engineer (Diesel Performance Podcast) he describes a new small diesel coming out soon - called the Whisper Diesel - 1.8L. He also said it's really difficult to launch new engines in the US compared to international markets, like the Southeast Asia. So there's some development time required. He indicated smaller diesel engines will be developed over time. We also talked about urban versus over the road truck needs and how stop-and-go nature of urban markets is not best suited for diesel engines given the need to regen - or something like that.
That'd be awesome! Say you have a VW Eurovan who's original engine was a 2.8 litre VR6 engine, but you want something that develops similar horsepower, but delivers more torque, and gets better fuel economy and relatively longer life. For years, if you wanted a Eurovan (Transporter) with a turbo diesel engine, you had to visit other countries. I don't mind visiting Europe, but that's unforgivable.
how reliable are these tunes? I came from the Subaru world and was on a stage 2 protune with my turbo Foz. I switched over to a ZR2 diesel its opening a new world to me..Just learning about these types of tunes..So different from the Cobb world..haha
Very reliable! We have tuned a lot of these 2.8Ls and having great success.
So does this increase the boost? Increase fueling? What exactly is the tuner tuning to get that kind of power?
You can read more about our 2.8L tuning here: duramaxtuner.com/2-8lduramax/2-8l-duramax-colorado-canyon-spade.html
If I tuned my ZR2 would I have problems when it comes to smog checks etc? I live in Cali, can i just set the tune back to stock and pass? Everything else would be stock.
So how would this tune work if u have aftermarket parts on it like a new intake and exhaust?
It would work the same - but with even better EGT's and maybe - maybe - an extra horse or two.
Jim I'll give you a call next week. Can this tune be like plugged in and then taken out when you need service so you don't void your warranty and can the dealer tell if you tune your 2.8
Yes - you will be able to flash your truck back to stock with our SPADE product.
How much does the tune cost?
hi i just got bought my baby duramax and watched a couple of your videos , can you tell me if you can get your tuner here in Canada please ?
Absolutely - we can ship it to you, no problem. Give us a call Monday @ 9 Central and we'll take care of it - 815-569-7920
oooo. look at the baby duramax. pulling a heavy load. and this duramax is just a baby
I plan on buying a new Duramax 6.6 next year. This is going to be my daily driver and I'm looking into mods to make it more durable. Heads...fuel pump...PDF delete any ideas? I'm not going to race this truck its strictly a reliable daily driver with 4X4 especially in winter.
This should help: ruclips.net/video/UB_uP4wnoPs/видео.html
What gas mileage does it get not towing?
I am working at GM engine plant in Flint and they are building some very different engines here. Mid size diesels and twin-turbo gas .....V8s
Feel free to tell us more. Thank you for reaching out.
I'm actually becoming a big fan of the 2.7 turbo. It's still no 2.7 EcoBoost, but I like the potential it has. I think it's a step in the right direction, but I'd also like to see this engine offered in the mid-sized trucks.
This engine is built via Isuzu in Southeast Asia.
What about the 3.0 Duramax 1500 trucks now anything for them yet?
:54 mileage was strong??? throw out some numbers.
How about watch the damn video
What kind of fuel economy can be expected with the tune and towing a max 2000 pound boat/trailer? Debating if the diesel is the way to go over a gasser?
I currently own an OBS 7.3 I’ve done a little to it and use a TS chip, that’s old school and it works, but I’m skeptical about fooling around with a new generation engine it seems to me that a small displacement engine has been “optimized” enough by the factory and keeping the reliability factor on track, I’d be afraid of high exhaust temps and higher temps on oil and transmission as well.
Thanks for your note Powder River. We've done countless hours of road and dyno testing of our calibrations while monitoring engine gas temperatures and other parameters without any problem whatsoever. We've sold these calibrations to hundreds of customers who tell us they're very happy. Our calibrations add horsepower, yes. But they improve on what the factory already achieved. For example, our tunes improve on the dead pedal - that mushy, slow throttle response that makes low-speed maneuvering a pain (especially with a trailer). Speaking of trailers, if you're hauling GVW on an incline, the calibrations allow you to maintain speed and even pass if necessary. The 2.8L is not a new generation engine - it's been around for more than a decade and sold in Asia. Plus, our calibrations are sold with the emissions equipment intact without any negative effects on regen frequency.
Duramaxtuner thanks for the kind reply, that’s an interesting note, I’ve often wondered if manufacturers would use engine platforms they’ve developed for other markets. It seems they’re always creating new engines for North America usually for emissions etc etc. I’ve followed the 2.8 in the Canyon/Colorado and I’m just preparing to probably purchase one in the near future.
Thank you for reaching out. Let us know if you have any questions about the tuned 2.8L. We'd really like to have you as a customer.
I need one of these tunes. I picked up a Colorado diesel and it's a great truckgreat mpg but it is slowwww stock. GM should have twined turboed this engine.
no they should have put in the duramax 4500 4.5L V8 that had 300 hp and 500 Tq. Too bad they cancelled it in 2009 right before it was a few inches away from being shipped in 2010 silvarado 1500's.
Hi I have a 2.8 wants the cost for the program and do you need a mechanic to do the tuning
Sorry no one got back to you Grant? If you are still interested in getting a package for you 2.8 please give me a call at the shop. 815-568-7920 EXT 2126 and my name is JIM

How about talking about intake issues with crank case vapours filling up the inter cooler with oil. And gumming up the intake when soot and oil mix . Lots of videos about this with all new diesels
What is your take on this . And what do you think of catch cans.
How to install catch can with out causing a check engine light
Concerned about my Baby Max
Rob
Great idea, we will have to see what we can do in the future.
I own a 2021 ZR2 Duramax . I do a lot of towing . some time 3 to 4 thousand pounds . I live up north ( Canada ) what is the best way to get the #2 tune for my truck .?
We can send out tuning via shipping or flash at a dealer. Give us a call, 815-568-7920.
Will it work for the Australian Colorado 2.8?
I think you must get some european tunner like Race Chip. In Asian an Latin America we get 200HP and 500 pounds torque on auto, not the detuned emission engine.
Any ram 1500 ecodiesel tunes in the works?
That's a good question - let me find out and get back to you. Sorry for the late response.
What is the deepest engine custom for 2.8 duramax and the highest power and torque that can we get for it?
Here is the highest HP/TQ tune we offer right now: Performance Tune (+52HP/80Ft-lbs): No explanation needed. This is the edge of performance balanced with long term reliability. We are working on a turbo upgrade that will raise that peak power limit.
@@Duramaxtuner the turbo is a long time coming, can't wait!
i wanna swap one in my my tahoe!
What engine is this, vm?
You guys only mention the Canon, how about the chevy colorado that has the same engine??? How about price? do I have to take to a shop to do this?
really ???
They are the same. Everything that we gain with the canyon will be exactly the same on the colorado. If you would like more info please give me a call at the shop. 815-568-7920 EXT 2126 and my name is JIM
Do you have any video of it running the performance tune? Does it blow smoke?
We can try to dig some up but the 2.8 has a DPF so there should never be smoke.
@Lawrence Chiasson No sir.
Ten years ago, when this same engine was in the Jeep Liberty, guys were tuning them and getting 70 lbs/ft more torque out of them. I remember Green Diesel Engineering being a popular company to get help from.
OFFRD that is NOT the same engine as was in the Liberty!
The 2.8 Duramax is a cousin to that 2.8 CRD. But the limiting factor on tuning these is the limitations of the transmission.
Can this select a horse tuner be used on the new vans with the 2.8 diesel?
Not 2018 at the moment (December 2017) so it depends on what model year. But yes - we should be able to tune it - can you give us a call and talk to a tech? 815-568-7920
Duramaxtuner it was only a theoretical question, i haven’t yet decided if i want to own one, but being able to tune it is a factor in that decision, if i opt to get that over the older 6.6 you will certainty hear from me.
Great - thanks Jeff!
Sales guy told me using this tuner on my zr2 will void warranty. This true?
Cage12247 any tunes to the ecm will void warranty
what about deleted tunes? the whole dpf/def garbage doesnt do well for us in the north
didn't edge just get in trouble for doing illegal tunes?
Unless my reading is inaccurate, the little Duramax doesn't use def at all. Obviously if they quit making you feed exhaust gas to the intake the engine would do even better, but it's nice you wouldn't have the added cost of an after treatment system.
So sell me a kit for my brand new 2.8l Colorado!! Where can I get it?!
I can set you up with the kit. Please give me a call at the shop. 815-568-7920 EXT 2126 and my name is JIM
Hi guys, I tried contacting you through your website and the captcha was malfunctioning and kept me from sending my inquiry. Do you have a dedicated email I can send to? Thanks!
Sorry about that. sales@duramaxtuner.com will always reach us.
Yo-u're email came through, but for some reason we cannot see your email address. It seems to have been sent from sales@duramaxtuner.com to sales@duramaxtuner.com. -Which we obviously have never seen before. Any chance you can give us a call? 815-568-7920
Hey is this the same block that's in the 2005-6 Jeep Liberty's with the diesel
If I buy a Canyon, I'll be new to the diesel world. Can I install your tune on my own? How hard is it? Very interested in getting in the diesel world but a 3/4 or 1 ton is overkill for my needs. The little Duramax seems like it will fit my needs but I would like to tune it if I pull the trigger.
plug it in a push a button
Make one for the 3.0 now
Is it true that 2019 duramax is now encrypted so ECU tunes cannot be done??
yes and no. It is encrypted. We still offer custom tuning. duramaxtuner.com/tuning/l5p-tuning-package.html
I don’t understand that link is for an L5p? How does that answer his question?
So can this engine be purchased and swapped into an older colorado, 2005? Wondering if its possible
Having the room to install a Duramax 2.8L and its related transmission may be one thing - but ensuring the engine harness (wiring) and all the accessories work is another. You could do the swap but then add gauges or whatever to monitor the various diesel stuff like regen but it won't look factory. That wiring stuff is a deal breaker for some swaps - not impossible - just very, very time consuming and if there's a problem you could be stuck for weeks.
Thanks for the reply...I do not mind the pickup not looking factory, I have no intention to sell it. If the wiring for the speedometer and rpms ect is not to strenuous, I have no problem mounting gauges for the diesel side.
Sweet - we do not sell the engine but I know if you do a search you could probably find a crate engine online. I think. Good luck and keep in touch.
Im not sure they sell this crate, Cummins does have a crate in this size that has even the wiring with it, BUT its not as much power stock. I think its about $9000 for the setup.
Yep I know which one your talking about and correct it is $9000, saving for that.
Thinking of getting a savana with this motor. Seems like good mpg's on long trips is a possibility.
A Savana? As in the van made by GMC? Idk that they offered this diesel engine in their vans?
I have a 2018 Savana with this engine built out as a camper. I average 23-24 mpg.
We have a 2019 1 ton Savanna with the Quigley 4 wheel drive conversion and a high top Superior camper conversion. We get 20.5 MPG at 75 with slightly taller tires than stock. Just over 60,000 on it and loving it for travel.
That dude looks like Joe Swanson.
P E T E R
I own a 2017 GMC Canyon with a 2.8 diesel with 101,000 miles on it a think it’s great. GM really dropped the ball when sold the company that made it
We love the 2.8L. Just a great truck.
I would be in tune 4 all the time. I know me.
Most of us are.
@@Duramaxtuner what is the deepest engine custom/tuning and the highest power and torque that we can get for a 2.8.duramax?
So your at 4:08?
Can you drive daily on #4 safely?
could you do the 'sport' tune and be able to sustain towing if you upgrade the radiator?
Lmao go back to school
The radiator would not need to be upgraded to run the Sport Tune.
Could this go into a full size 1500?
Especially that 3 option?
When you ask if this "could go into a full size 1500" - you're asking if the tune could go into the larger, gas-powered truck? No this is a tune designed for a diesel engine, so there's no compatibility whatsoever. DT's 2.8L improve the dead pedal, which is the gutless response you may be referring to. We produced a video about that - here's the link: ruclips.net/video/i2975nkOZwc/видео.html
Please call us if you have other questions: 815-568-7920
My apologizes.. in your opinion could that diesel engine go into full size say 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 and work out? 90% of the time a simple daily diver and then load kids in there for practice or games. I throw sports equipment in the back for the most part.
My apologies to you - just never thought of that before. Crate 2.8L engines are readily available through the manufacturer - so yes, I'm pretty sure you could drop one of these into a 1500 style body - why not? You'd have to include a transmission in the conversion and no doubt modify the engine mounts and drive shaft. There will be other challenges, like wiring - but that stuff is a typical everyday challenge to a diesel tech. Will be expensive.
Im watching this because im going to swap one into a jeep comanche!
That’s sick
Gas mileage is ok as long as you don't beat on it like everything else
you prolly dont give a shit but if you are stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream all the new movies on instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my brother for the last few weeks :)
@Jamal Forest Yea, I've been using instaflixxer for since december myself =)
@Jamal Forest Definitely, have been watching on instaflixxer for since december myself :D
Average price please?
duramaxtuner.com/2-8lduramax.html
I’ll keep my Touareg 3.0 Tdi and box trailer when I need to haul little things. In the mean time I can tow my 27ft RV and 7000lb boat no problem and still fit in a garage unlike my F150.
why do you hate America?
What about your factory warranty?
It often depends on your dealer. Many have no problem with our calibrations. You will also be able to flash your truck back to stock if necessary, for whatever reason.
+Duramaxtuner awesome because I'm waiting for the zr2 Duramax!
You would get into trouble if their was a warranty claim. GM vehicles have flash counters that can not be reset. Your dealer can't do much to help you there. As your warranty claim is against GM not the dealership.
i just ordered a 2017 gmc canyon with the duramax, excited to see what MPG i will be getting stock. with your tune 3 you said you saw a increase in MPG do you have an exact number?
I am seeing 32mpg on the regular with my stock 2016, I would be interested to see what their mileage claim is for this as well.
Will this tune void the factory warranty ?
It depends on your dealer. Some dealers are cool - others are not so cool. When you buy tunes from us, we include a stock tune so you can reflash your truck back to stock if necessary.
Was a grand
I haven't seen any Duramax powered Chevy Colorado or even GMC Canyon. Nor have I seen the engine advertised for USA buyers. Can you think of any reasons for that? I'd buy a truck with the "Baby Duramax" 2.8 litre if it were available where I live, and if I were in the market for a small/mid-sized truck.
You may have to order one in through your dealer. I haven't seen many at all yet either. I know that my dealer in a town with only 5000 people is actually getting one in this week, and I think my dad is snatching it up lol.
+blake woolam I know. I'd like to see more small displacement diesel engines sold here in the USA.
+Jason Carpp I agree. I belive there was a 4.5 isuzu that was supposed to go into a half ton Chevy, but it never happened. I wish it did.
It's an unforgivable shame that never happened. I can imagine it going in the Chevy C/K1500, while the Duramax V8 would go in the 2500 and 3500.
Yeah, it would have made a lot of sense. And chevy would have beat dodge and nissan to the half ton diesel market
okay now when are we gonna see these things cranked to 400hp+
Who cares about factory warranty
If your getting 7-8 mpg towing out of a full size with any diesel you have problems 😂
John Stevens I get 7mpg but what do I know this kenworth 680 has a big engine
Our firetrucks get about 5 if we're lucky lol
I am very interested but I am not seeing where you showed your MPG increases or decreases with any specific tune. I was informed that nothing is going to increase MPG averages unless a full delete and removal of the exhaust system was done. I was told this by more than one 2.8L owners. Said anything that promises MPG increases without the full delete - removal of the EGR DFP and SCR and then removal of the hardware components is just snake oil. So I am still open minded and interested. I like facts not tales of over inflated MPG increases. What have you seen increase or decrease with your tuners in MPG specifically? I dont want to hear about horsepower and torque although those are important. I want your MPG data
@TravisSmith-hm4tt Members of our staff have personally seen a 2-3mpg increase on the highway after tuning their personal vehicles. While our recorded data on these statistics is lacking we do have a few facts that support the idea that tuning will increase your fuel economy. Firstly, we do more than just add fuel to increase efficiency when tuning. Improvements in timing, boost pressure, and the shape of your power and torque curves over the factory calibration to add efficiency without increasing fuel consumption. The improvement in efficacy from tuning can definitely help improve fuel economy if you drive in a fuel efficient manner. However, combining ECM tuning with TCM tuning is really where efficiency starts to become noticeable. The improvement to the power curve coupled with improved shift points can really maximize your fuel efficiency. Getting your truck moving at a steady pace and holding a higher gear instead of lugging your truck up to speed at a low RPMs/levels of power and holding the truck at a high RPM to maintain speed will definitely improve your fuel economy. And hey, don't take out word for it.Throw a post up on one of the 2.8L Duramax groups on FaceBook or one of the forums and see what our customers are saying!
@@Duramaxtuner thank you!
@@Duramaxtuner I'm pulling a 5000 lb trailer behind my 2018 Coly (Coly weighs in at 6000 - loaded with 2 pax and gear in the bed)with the Switch on The Fly configuration and the TOW tune selected. Combined weight of the two vehicles is just at or about 11500 lbs. Frankly, I'm not impressed with the Tow selection. While traveling up with a gradient of @7% grade, I am at WOT (RPM's above 3K) and transmission temps over 230 by the time the summit (7 miles)is reached on a 68F day. I never see 6th gear (particularly in Auto mode) unless going down hill, or on a very level roadway and no wind conditions. And this is at sea level up to @ 1500' of elevation change. I shudder to think what would happen if the altitudes were above 5000' as in the Eastern Sierra range of Ca. It definitely has me limiting my options to travel with the trailer to mountainous areas. Even at the sea level height range I am only getting 13 - 14.7 mpg on average. To be fair, I also only get 22 - 23mpg at best with any of the tunes and not towing the trailer. Told that to another Coly owner (Baby D-Max as well) and his 4x4 Coly was getting 38- 33 MPG... Couldn't believe it. Out of the box mine never approached that kind of range. No better after being tuned with any of the tunes. It is more "fun" to drive with the a tune selected, but any performance gains seem rather elusive.
I would hope that if I just traded 30+K greenstamps for a truck, it would not need a power boost. Just keep the keys. I'll keep my greenstamps
it doesn't need a power boost... it's just an option for those that want. it's like kids that turbo their civics. they didn't have to do it. some people just like the freedom to modify
Eric Williams There’s a big difference between need and want, man.
La S10 de América del Sur no comparte nada con la colorado duramax sólo que es una copia de la USA...
2.8 duramax? Ppphhaahaha!!! 😆 . When it shits out get you a Briggs and Stratton...
annnnndd theyre canceling the 4 cyl duramax come next generation
if theres a better tune then why is the factory not doing it ?
Nilk Narf because of EPA regulations on manufacturers
wrong, correct answer would be that "better' is a subjective term... the epa sees those that limit emissions as "better" while a petrol head sess the best performance as "better"..... twat
I'm totally going to delete my 2.8L DEF kiss my ass
if i had one thing to tell chevy, it would be get your head outta your ass and build a NEW express van. like they had the same design since the early 2000s. ford and ram changes the design of theirs and it looks bigger and better. CHANGE IT NOW!
2017 zl1 camaro/2016 camaro fan markets oversaturated and they don't see a huge need for the update
zimks bullshit, they NEED the update, like legit......
2017 zl1 camaro/2016 camaro fan Why dump money into something that doesnt give you significant return? I heard there putting the 2.8l in the vans soon though
Until the oil cooler lines crack leaking out all the engine oil and seizing the engine. It's just another gutless piece of shit durrrrracrap.
So I guess you won't be driving a Duramax any time soon.
Duramaxtuner you couldn't pay me enough to drive anything with a GM badge on it...
Don't worry ap 123, we won't even try. Best of luck and thanks for reaching out.
Duramaxtuner wasn't reaching out. Just stating some facts. Looks like I got under your skin in the process. Take care now.
Duramaxtuner That's some serious P.R. Skillz hahaha keep calm and try not to feed the troll.
Fastest way to void your warranty and for good reason. Also, there is no info on fuel mileage and emission compliance. Oh well.
These calibrations are emission compliant.
The real truck is the Red 1st Gen Dodge behind ya'll
Yes sir - remember that project well. Very happy customer.
The Blue Collar Preacher is that why they got to pull that piece of shit around?
