The advice about paper might be the single most significant lesson for beginners! The paper is the support, but also the source of white for the painting, and the paper sizing has a huge influence on the appearance of colors. No other type of paint has such dependence on, and integration with the support. Somewhere, there's an artist watching this video right now whose whole understanding of the medium will take a major leap forward!
