Did you enjoy? Where should our next sketchbook date be? 🙃💭 PS. That intro was my first attempt at stop motion animation… and yes I voiced those noises.🤣 so fun!
These are some of my favorite videos of yours, when you are out painting or sketching in public and making connections and really taking us with you as you connect with a place and the environment. The sketchbook spread turned out so beautiful, makes me want to sit in a cafe and paint too!
I just realised how creating makes us the main character..how people notice us because we create and how people drown in happiness on seeing our art . I feel happy about myself .thank you Jess
A really relaxing Sketch Date, Jess! It's really good to have one of these videos again. Thank you! 😊 It's a long time since I sat in a café sketching people, but I have been sitting across the square, drawing folk at lunch in the café opposite, and in a small enclosed garden nearby this summer. It's been good fun, and, like you, making contact with strangers is part of the experience. How long were you there? How long do your sketches take?
I cant believe you be able to talk to stranger like that when sketches omg, my introverts ass feeling so nervous and somehow I wanna buried myself in a hole lol.. I don't have the confidence also to show my sketch and drawing to a person in real life like that, its so brave of you huhuhu, Im amazed and I feel that I wont be able to do that..when I go to cafe to work or sketches I always choose the most quiet and no person around corner because of my shyness, thank you for sharing your experience
Dear Jess, you're the coolest. Thanks for taking us on a date, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute it, i love how you make your spreads and share your day in the video. Love the backpack animation intro :)
My 11 yr old son has always preferred to sketch with a pen! I didn't realize it until about 6 months ago. He was drawing in his sketchbook. When he got finished with his drawing he came to show it to me. It was, as usual, almost perfect proportions, in pen! For the first time, I realized he almost always sketches with a pen and has very few "sketch" lines. It's like he goes straight in knowing exactly where he needs to put the lines. Almost like his sketch is his inking layer.
Hey jess ive been following you for a while. You art is fascinating, it amazes me everytime i see it. Im on my way to become an artist like you ! Hanging out at a cafe, drawing people, drinking and eating what i want, the faboulus music at the cafe… thats what i want to do. You inspire me everyday… love you ! Greetings from Turkey!
Thanks for letting us tag along! A fountain pen is a great addition to any sketch kit- the line variation and sensitivity to pressure of the hand are unlike anything you can get with a fiber tipped pen. Unfortunately, some artists still think fountain pens are hard to take care of, but a piston converter (refillable ink cartridge with a plunger mechanism) makes rinsing out between colors easy (rinse only with cool water, never hot). What ink do you use in your Lamy pen, BTW?
Love the latte. Have you ever watched Liz Steel? She does this type of sketching with her tea. Very loose and flowy. Text explaining where she was, etc. I just love it. I have a small kit I keepin my purse. A non water proff black pen and water brush for a quick faux watercolor feel.
I used to do this in the before times. Now outside only for me. But I still bring a tiny sketchbook in my purse if I get caught in line while doing necessary shopping. I live near a park so it’s great to walk down to and sketch from life.
you're an incredible artist. ...easy to see. You're a genuinely gifted storyteller but It's all very obvious. But your superpower is your empathy. It's a rare thing in us. You instinctively are able to know what we want and that good Jess, is why I keep looking for your videos. Thank you
I LIKED THIS VIDEO VERY MUCH, YOUR DRAWINGS ARE GREAT AND PERFECT. I MOSTLY LOVE WATCHING YOUR URBAN PAINTINGS, IT IS LIKE WATCHING A MINI SERIES. GREAT, XX
You are truly such an inspiring person! Your videos always brighten my day and motivate me to create and live life to the fullest ❤ Glad to hear you had a good time sketching in the café, thank you for sharing it with us ☺
Beautiful.....I visited Rome and did a similar thing with different places statues and writing, it was in a small sketchbook but it is a lovely momento - I think I need to frame it xxz
Another inspiration booster from Jess! This is so so relaxing! I wanna try and paint at a location in a cafe too! 👀✨ Also waiting eagerly for PART 2 ❤️
I found your channel through RUclips's Biggest Art Collab, and I am so grateful for that. Your videos, how you challenge yourself, and how you find an answer in your struggle is so wonderful
What a beautiful story in your Sketch Book! You will look back on this page and remember every detail and the smell of the coffee when looking at it! Thank You for the date! I was drinking coffee too!
Aloha, I love watching your video. You inspired me to start to do more drawing and some painting. Love the painting you did of yourself. That was so beautiful. Much aloha.
I loved the intro! And your editing style is so professional and lively, you really take us to these places with you. Your sketches were beautiful as well. Can’t wait to see the next drawing date of yours!
Wow your page turned out amazing. I thought the guys response was really great and I love that he was genuinely interested and wanted to sit down and talk. I like to sketch people in cafes too but I’m always afraid they’ll “catch” me.
Thank you so much! I agree!! People usually do but there is always a pleasant way to show them and be respectful :) Usually it ends with smiles and great connections!
Cute intro…and of course I would love to come along! The animation at the beginning was cute… my girlfriend and I used to go sketching at coffee shops all the time in the Old Port of Montreal. Not for a while though 😕. Love to have people come up and watch us work. We loved this video.❤️❤️
Very nice Segway into your method when filling up your sketchbook. I like your kind words and info when sketching. You are much younger than I. I am old enough to be your grandfather, I must say. Anyway, keep up the great work. Watch out for burnout.
I get so much joy from your video's and your editing is just next level! I really love drawing on location and I now really want to sit in my local coffeeshop all afternoon and sketch! I always find it so hard to film on location though.. Thank you for sharing!
You're like the "Nahre Sol-Zenmaster" of art. I just watched Nahre Sol's latest video on "How to Sound Like Mozart". She kills it when it comes to explaining and demonstrating music composition principles. You're like that with art. My impromptu pen sketches have a lot of little cross-outs and redos, which is why I need something with an "Undo" like digital art. The last time I started sketching strangers and one of them came toward me, my only instinct was to flee the scene in order to "protect the sketchbook", another case for a digital medium and a decoy top layer with a sketch of a bus or something, until I'm "ready" for people to see what I'm working on. Great job with your highly cohesive sketch/painting, and it's cool that you incorporated both your art supplies and that barista's cute latte art. The backpack gobble thing was a lot of fun too!
Adrian fell in love
