My "trick" to boost confidence in drawing was to start doing "Daily Doodles". Just small pieces, sometimes no more than a wee Gnome (My default subject if I don't know what to draw 😉 ). I'm on day 328 now!
That sound you hear is us cheering out loud! Most of us on the Blick team are artists ourselves, and we need to hear this message as much as anyone. We think Jess' question, "What is something you've never drawn before?" should be what each of us starts every day asking!
I've finished my graphic memoir and I'm going to get it published, entitled MOM REMEMBERS ME. I used my health and fitness knowledge to stop my mother with mild dementia from forgetting me, and it worked. I remind caregivers that they should use art to help with their caregiving or to copy any form of art that their caregivee might be doing to challenge you both. Here's to sanity in the world for 2023 and a great new year.
This year, my goal is to fully focus on CREATING and GROWTH. This is going to be the year where I get into a daily art habit, fill an entire sketchbook, launch my website instead of continuing to procrastinate, and build my RUclips channel up so that it finally starts to generate some income. Enough of putting my energy into things that aren't helping me towards my goals and dreams. Jess, I want to thank you for all of the work you do. You are such an inspiration to so many people and you're one of the most positive people. When I see you get excited about creating art, I also get excited. Every time you upload something new, it inspires me to grab my sketchbook and paint or draw as I watch your videos. I can't see where this year takes all of us! 🥰
The something new I want to try in 2023 is simple 3D sculpture using air dry clay. I've been doing every kind of 2D visual art you can imagine for literally 50 years. The last time I sculpted something was 1979, so I think I'm about due to break out into the third dimension!! Thanks for your inspiring video. You're the best. Jim, in France
I wanna follow the habit of carrying my sketchbook everywhere and drawing more and more...since I didn't do much drawing last or the year before.....This video really inspired me to be more creative...I saw lots of art tutorials and channels on RUclips but this is the only channel that inspired me to draw more......Your channel is one of my favourite channels..... Thank you very much for inspiring me 🥰♥♥
Thank you so much, Jess! I needed this message today. I’m an art hobbyist and usually only do pieces for myself. A coworker asked if I would paint a big piece for his house. I am intimidated for sure! My first reaction was, “Me? But I’m just a beginner.” And then I thought, this is a perfect way to grow. Challenge accepted! You continue to inspire me. I commit to showing up. Let’s go!
24:42 made me laugh and smile. I didn't know there was "such a thing " as action figure photography. I used to take photos of my soft-toys posing in childhood- I never thought that this would be for grownups, too :) thanks for the mind opener
My creative habit for 2023 is to complete three "100 ___" challenges! Thanks to all the people who contributed, now I have more people to follow and be inspired by. You're a huge inspiration Jess!
Hullo Jess, I just wanted to say to you and anyone else reading this you have nailed a process and following your roadmap can and will lead you to success! Stay with it and simply never stop! I remember when I was rather forced into digital art because no one would hire someone who did not have computer skills! I thought my life with traditional art was over and I was very resentful. I have since come back to traditional art and creating watercolors was my first joy in creation in my life! I worked as a freelance artist for over 35+ years and the true key to sticking with it is showing up every day and doing something. Draw, paint, dance! Just be creative, know you’re being creative and being happy about it. Thank you for sharing your journey with us I look forward to seeing more and enjoying your joy! See ya next video!
In 2023 I'm learning how to make my own sketchbooks and journals.....for several reasons...... 1. Stop me buying SO MANY trying to find the 'right' one!! Will be much cheaper and more individual for me! 2. Can make them the 'perfect' size, shape and paper type I like. 3. Bind together all my loose works on paper ....and know exactly where to find them all again! 4. Practice a new beautiful, timeless craft that compliments what I do.
I have never felt so motivated in my life- I am a young artist (14) and sometimes I feel like I am not good or old enough to create professional and good pieces of art, but rly all it takes is practice and patience. I hope one day I will I can be as good as you :) 💕
You're so lucky tho! You're half my age and I'm jealous lol, you have your whole life and career in front of you and thats a good thing! I'm studying too but I also have to work to pay rent (I run a business so it's a lot of work 😭) clean my whole house, cook all my dinners, do grocery shopping etc etc. I wish I could be 14 again and be a real art student and dedicate more time to my studies! Good luck young one 🌞❤️ you will be good if you put in the time and effort!
I’m the same age, I don’t want to do illustration as a career since I’ve recently found love in graphic design. However, illustration is still one of my greatest passions, and I want to do everything in my power to improve :) I hope the both of us can push through to achieve our passions, and I’m excited to see where it goes
for the last 3 months i've been drawing every day and bringing my supplies everywhere. for this year, I really want to start realism. and for that I have to learn anatomy. i am 13 year old artist and I think, that it is really important to not give up on those days when you have art block, or you simply don't have motivation. thank you for being my inspiration.
I’ve been mentally and physically tired, lethargic & lacking in energies. So I’ve been working on being more mentally & physically active. Bought some art supplies & been learning to draw & doing art. Getting off the couch more. When I feel tired & start drawing & feel more awake and energized. Watch videos like yours instead of TV
I love that you gave space to other artists in your video. It was really nice to watch. A habit to implement in 2023 is to find time to create even when there seem not to be any😄
My creative habit or objective for 2023 is finishing every single drawing or painting or sketch that I start. I tend to be so frustrated with the outcome and not trusting the process and I end up leaving everything halfway, and starting something new, hoping it will be better. Not anymore!! Thanks a lot for the video, as always it was super inspiring!!
This year, it doesn't matter how much work I have , I'll just show up to my sketchbook and give myself at least 5 minutes to draw whatever comes to my mind , It may be drawing something I've never drawn before. Like you said, it was a great idea to ask someone to tell the first word that comes to their mind and then just draw it. You're great Jess. Lots of love💜
I have started going to art school to learn iconography and i will admit that i was disappointed at the beginning because i could not find this push i needed to confirm me that it was the right move i made in order to learn how to draw. Yesterday i finally found the motivation to continue so i feel it will be a good artistic year. Patience, building confidence, trusting my intuition and my guts regarding painting and drawing are some of the things i need to learn this year. Thank you so much for you inpirational videos. I never thought drawing and painting would be my next form of art to study. I was always drawing as a kids and i am self taught up to a certain point. Thanks to you, i am studying to become a fully fledged artist.
I'm setting monthly challenges for myself this year, that way I can stay motivated by switching up the goal every month instead of burning out trying to keep up with the same goal every single day. For January my challenge is to flip to a random page in my 301 Drawing Prompts book and draw whatever the page lands on. The next day I do the same thing, but I use that prompt to add on to the previous prompt. At the end of each week I should have a full sketchbook spread completed. I've finished two weeks and two spreads so far. I did the same thing last year and it really helped me stick to a daily drawing practice, plus I get to draw things I never would've come up with on my own. In February I'll do a 100 Somethings challenge, and so on and so forth. Thank you for all of your tips and motivation, Jess. And the kid and Mr. Dino thank you too LOL
For me i would say a creative habit I would like to do more of is to get myself out there & post my art. Up until Somewhat recently, i had a Perfectionist mindset which was impacting my art career in a negative way to the point i've stopped drawing. That's when I realized I should use Failure as a motivator to improve my skills & it's ok if my art isn't perfect. Ever since then, i've started to Draw again & i will never quit ever again because I CAN DO THIS just like anyone. I have a new Mindset & enjoy making art becasue there is someone who adores your work no matter your skill level.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I have some perfectionistic issues too. I don't know how to work with them for now but your comment showed me that it's possible. Best wishes for your progress 😊
@@Teti_K anytime. 1 tip i can suggest to get rid of that perfectionist mindset is to do something out of your comfort zone. For me, my friend who also is an artist told me to bring my sketchbook & went to the Mall. he told me to draw anything i want but i can't stop until the drawing was done. People at the mall started approaching us & for some reason when i was drawing, the perfectionist mindset was gone because i was being asked questions or getting complimented on for a drawing.
@@KingofAnime7 yep, this scary challenges are my only medicine. Thank you so much for your advice 😊 I wanted to watch your art videos on RUclips, but you haven't posted them. You definitely need. It's a good challenge for you too ;) I tried it for myself, it's frightening but it has some effect too
Every time when a single message pops up in my inbox telling that jess is about to say or show sumthin on social media... It's makes me smile😊 your work is as beautiful as you are and you both makes us happy 🤗huge thanks for inspiring us all❤God bless you🙏
How crazy ironic is it that today is the very first day that I found your channel? This is the second video that I am seeing and it is exactly what I needed to hear! From this day forward, in 2023 I intend to 'show up'. I shall begin each day with my sketchbook. And then.....I intend to begin to go back and finish all of the many beautiful sketches that I have made during the course of this past year. Myself, I have no excuse for not having the time. I am retired and have all the time in the world. Painting and sketching are something I returned to when I became severely disabled after two spinal fusions gone wrong. Art was the only thing that seemed to bring me relief from my constant pain. As of late, I seemed to have fallen into a bit of a rut and seeing this video is exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you ever so much Jess. Your positive outlook and energy are phenomenal. Today is the beginning of my new 2023. I hear my sketchbook calling out to me and there is a little squirrel just waiting to be sketched. And after that, I fully intend to return to my artwork and my plans to produce beautiful unique watercolor cards for all occasions. I also have several requests for commissions that I have in different stages of completion and my constant desire for perfection has kept me from bringing them to their final stage. I intend to put that unrealistic ideal on the back shelf where it belongs. Again, thank you. Your message couldn't have come at a more perfect time for me. It came through loud and clear and truly touched my heart. I am looking forward to a wonderful 2023 and also looking at your Patreon membership options to see which would be the best fit for me. 👩🦳🖌️
One habit I wanna implement is to step out of my "comfort zone" in my sketchbook, start doing things that I find almost intimidating or something I haven't tried yet
I have been trying to draw more for few months now and stop being lazy.. And now this year my goal is to start writing a journal , write everything I'm grateful about at the end of the day and set new small goals for tomorrow!!
Jess, you once again almost brought me to tears. You've got such an ability to touch my soul! As of my creative habit, I just want to create more than I consume - spend more time in my sketchbook than on my phone, so I could get more confident with my art and fuel my imagination through work 😊
You’ve said exactly what my heart was speaking, Lidia! I’m feeling motivated to continue what my intentions are for my creativity this year. MORE OF IT. MORE OFTEN.
Thank you so much Jess! I needed that extra motivation. Most things you said in the video I have experienced like trying new mediums. For me I tried charcoal for the first time and as I went with it I got better and learned from tiny mistakes and got better. I love how you worded everything that is just amazing how you are able to help other artists. Love your videos Jess.
After this video I’ve got the motivation for daily sketching to bring me in a creative routine that been missing till yet. Thanks for this emotional and motivating video.
I'm an artist and one of my creative habit that i admire is architecture! I like making maps of houses and building. And one thing that i want to try doing more this year is making more paintings. Thankyou jess 💓 for making us committed to let the creativity flow! Happy 2023
I write for a living. And I’m new to sketching. I love sketching and painting at the end of the day, before bed. So I fill at least one page with a sketch of a face or do a quick watercolor painting.
You hope that we love this video? I for one loved this video! It was like yesterday that I enrolled at an art college and fast forwarding, I am a senior with long standing health issues and, after a long hiatus I am returning back to art in order to restore my spiritual, mental and physical health. What I really miss is the art camraderie when I was into my art. So, thanks to your video, I am a button away from other people who share their art journey along with their triumphs and struggles. I am not alone. I am in the process of picking up the pieces and slowly am sketching, drawing and will paint again. Thank you Jess. Your video came at a perfect time in my life.
“If they can do it you can” May not seem like much but, Miss Karp, that quote will live with me. I will keep it in my heart that means a lot. Thank you! I think I’m going to talk to my parents about getting me into an art class. It’ll be helpful.
I have 2 goals! 1) have patience. I’m starting to realize that everything in life is a lifelong journey. Becoming skilled at art, being kind, being a doctor, living life! Every thing requires me to continue learning and practicing for the rest of my life and that helps me be more patient with the idea of where I need to be or how much work I need to put in everyday to “get to where I want to be”. It takes off the pressure and helps me to stay consistent/disciplined to actually just practice (which will help me develop my skill) 2) FINISH THINGS!! I have so many projects that I’ve started but never finished because of fear. Whether that be fear of failure or fear of success I’m not sure. But regardless I want to drop that fear and actually finish projects. I’m tired of showing people sketches and prototypes when they ask for examples of my work. 2023 will be great for all of us!! I’m rooting for you and me! ❤
hi jess I just wanted to tell you that you inspired me to finally get to painting and recently you've been one of my favorite RUclipsrs to watch. your vibe is amazing. so thankful for you & your videos!!
I'm sick with cold and this video was so inspiring... I was really sad that I'm stuck on pencil portraits and couldn't draw animals or paintings... thanks Jess... you've made my day
2023 is my year of Freedom! My entire life I have wanted to draw and develop the creativity that's always been right beneath the surface. Unfortunately, I've allowed my anxiety and fear of failure to keep me from doing this all these years. This year I'm breaking free, and will be embracing the creativity that has always begged for space in my life. I will also be embracing imperfections, instead of not trying due to the fear that it won't be perfect. Failure isn't creating something that isn't perfect. Failure is never trying at all. Life is too short. I've allowed so much of my life to pass me by without having the courage to live my truth out of the fear of failure and imperfection. Thanks for this video Jess, it's yet another form of inspiration that is helping me as I take these steps towards what I love.🥰
Thank you Jess for the inspiration! One thing I want to be able to do this year is to be more consistent in my sketchbook and not be afraid of the outcome because not everything needs to perfect and pristine!! :)
Today, I discovered your U-Tube video for the first time and boy am I grateful. I love your energy and your generosity of sharing! My first creative habit is to stop multitasking and to FOCUS on abstract painting. In 2023, I want to paint weekly and to build a website to promote who I am and to show my paintings. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR TIME TO HELP US GROW!
For the entire second half of 2022 I was unable to paint, or sit or stand for that matter. I had a spinal fracture and was in constant pain. I had surgery 4 weeks ago and sat at my drafting table yesterday just moving stuff around. And having a blast! Your video came at the perfect time, they always do! My goal is to do something creative everyday, just because I can. I love the 100 times idea. And the "secret sketchbook" , not that i share them anywhere, but knowing it is specifically for me means there is no pressure at all. Which watercolor sketchbook do you recommend? Watercolor is my favorite but will be adding gouache ad my challenge. Love your videos, they've always been very cinematic but improving greatly.
Hey Bobbie! Thank you so much for watching and sharing this! Some watercolor sketchbooks I tried include Stillman and birn Beta series, etchr lab, pentel watercolor journal, and moleskine - Check those out and decide based on your budget :) Hope this helps. Thank you for your kind words as well. Happy 2023
This year I plan to actually see my creative projects to completion. There was another video I recently watched where the artist used the mantra "Finished, not perfect," and that's the sort of vibe I'm bringing to my work in 2023.
Patience has definitely become a learning curve! I learnt that recently on a project I’ve been working on for the last few months; I’ve been wanting to illustrate on the pages in my favourite book series but I knew that I didn’t want to dive straight in onto the page. I’ve been sketching in sketchbooks, playing around with thumbnails and other poses. It’ll take time before I get everything I want to draw into the books, but patience has been a virtue because I’ve learnt so much in the process and expanded upon the idea.
I am a student who studies in 6th grade. Before watching any of your videos I used to think that supplies are key to beautiful art pieces, but now I understand that all you need is a pen and a paper.Thank you for your amazing videos (I watch every single one). Keep going 😊
Thanks for the inspiration Jess! I loved this video! One creative habit for me this year is to be more consistent in being creative - whether it’s writing, drawing or painting. I want to do something (even if it’s small) everything single day. 😊 Less scrolling, more creating.
In 2023 I would like to draw regularly and eventually maybe without fear outside, in the field and also in public, that is, where people might observe and approach me when I try to draw. I always put this off until now because I think I still have to get much better before anyone is allowed to see it and I'm not afraid of embarrassing myself.
Thanks for a super inspirational video, Jess. I want to start a daily sketchbook activity in2023. Actually showing up to the page is a real challenge for me so I plan to get into a daily habit of drawing, painting, doodling etc at lest once per day.
This year, since I finally have time, I want to draw everyday. I also want to get out the house and see different things to help creativity flow. I am going to work on some studies and try to get back to the basics. Once again, thank you so much!
I'm just starting my creative journey as a self taught "artist" and I hope to learn and grow in 2023. I want to be consistent in my practice and show up to my page everyday.
Hey Jess, I probably watched this video before on my personal channel, but needed this reminder. 1. I would like to start putting in daily sketchbook and journaling time, like I used to do for writing, and feel a connection with my artist self. 2. I want an art practice of various forms and subjects that I enjoy to be my primary source of income, fully self-employed with a home studio and travel pack, so that I throw off the covers every morning, beyond eager to dive into it. Thanks. 💖
My creative habit that I've been doing for a while is painting without a sketch, especially if it's been a while since I did a finished piece. I feel like it gives me freedom to play and to do something that may or may not work. For 2023 I would like to take a watercolor painting class because I want to meet other artists and that will mean that I'll have more folks to talk to about my art. Thanks for asking Jess!
Also, if you have an opportunity to do so, take care of you mental health. I didn’t realize that the reason why I was so all over the place, depressed, inconsistent and an emotional bomb was because untreated ADHD, social anxiety and dyslexia. Getting to know that information about myself was incredibly healing and helpful. It was very interesting to realize that I have been forcing my brain to behave in a way that didn’t work just because I wanted to fit in. Anyway, I just wanted to share that because sometimes we get caught up in how can we be better without realizing that our mental health has not been taken care of. Love the video, Jess, amazing as always. Happy 2023! Much love ❤
Hi Jess! A creative habit I got into in 2022 is keeping a sketchbook and drawing or painting in it every day, and you actually inspired me to do that! A year ago I discovered your channel and I watched one of your videos about ideas for filling up a sketchbook, and I was instantly inspired. A year later and I’ve filled up four sketchbooks and counting! I want to keep it up this year. 😊
I just filled my creative lungs with oxygen watching this, it was like following a warrior princess into a battle that had been going on forever, and I felt refreshed, inspired and vigorous. That you
The creative habit that helped the most in the past year was setting weekly duration goals for sketch booking. The habit I would like to pick up is a weekly drawing class so I can make new friendships and grow my skills
I want to take the plunge and start a RUclips channel as well as continue to keep a daily sketchbook. I moved abroad, to a country where I can hardly even speak the language, and I literally started carrying my sketchbook everywhere with me. It has helped me 1 feel comfortable 2 document my time here and 3 unknowingly create this daily urge to want to draw something. I have two sketchbooks now that I work in daily - One "ugly sketchbook" where I thumbnail and brainstorm all my ideas as well as take notes when I am studying other artists videos and work like this video so I can look back through when I don't know what to draw in my "pretty" travel sketchbook. The first one I feel free to doodle and do whatever I want where the second I am more inclined to do finish work in. This has really freed up my creativity and also driven me to want to create more daily. I just want to keep up the habit. NOW to find the courage to dive in and start that RUclips channel finally. Thanks for making such inspiring videos and sharing your art journey with us Jess! I hope I can make videos that reach people one day as well. Maybe today is that day. :)
Beautiful video Jess! One habit I started at the end of last year was staring my day dancing at least a song as a warm up, then doing stretches before I start painting or working. The other habit I want to incorporate is meditation, I'm trying different forms and testing some watercolor meditation over just lying still. And I'm considering mixing it up. Until I find a way to relax, remove tension and slow down.
First off, Thank you to you and your artists peeps for sharing so generously. My focus for 2023 is minimum 15 mins of art time each day, along with continuing "coffee & sketchtoast!
Jess, thank you so much for making this video. I am currently in my second semester of art school and have been really struggling with depression, motivation and inspiration to create, especially for assignments that are not up my alley AT ALL. I've been questioning if I'm even meant to do this. I really hope I can start to implement some of these ideas into my daily life and get my spark back. Your videos always bring tears to my eyes because of your passion and positive attitude in art making, and I just appreciate you trying to spread that and encourage others. You truly are a light and an inspiration and I'm very thankful that I found your channel last year.
The way you always manage to make me feel safe and encouraged through your videos is so fascinating! I'm currently trying to deal with chronic fatigue and autistic burnout. Thank you for being you!
@@artofjesskarp I'll do my very best! Happy 2023 to you! Became a Patron of yours yesterday and the Discord-servers members are so kind. Best decision I've made so far this year!
HI! last year I made my own handmade mixed media sketchbook with all kinds of different paper types so I can draw using any medium the moment inspiration hit and It worked! For 2023 I am opening a small shop where I can share my art with the world and try new things out of my comfort zone!
Julia Cameron’s The Artist Way was my first touch into the artist realm. Those three pages a day were something I could do. Those Artist Dates…was challenging until I took a walk outside to be friends with nature. Details of tree bark and deeper. Then finding out the tree’s name…field guides are very inspirational. Your video here reminds me of someone…Thank you so much for your field notes!!!
🌺 Every day, I am going to randomly pick a word, & illustrate it in 1 hour. It wi help me improve my vocabulary, practice thinking and drawing quickly. I ENJOYED YOUR VIDEO.
It’s currently August of 2023 and I want to seriously get into drawing, because I see so much art everywhere I go. My main muse is Music, but I also like all kinds of art. And I think I want to be part of the community. So wish me luck. Thank you for letting me be part of this community.
2023 habit I want to implement/get back to it is to get back to my silly cartoon morning sketching. I love doing it, and haven’t been consistent with it. 🎉Happy 2023 everyone, and good luck with your beautiful ❤artwork!
Hi Jess - thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge in arts. I have started sketching since last year. We had really bad family tragedy during this covid and to get over that sadness I started scribbling some basic sketch and then decided to continue with sketching. Found an online class but you inspire me the most. I am a 63 year old lady. Last I had sketch when I was in 7th grade. 😅😅 My most favorite thing to do is to create something. Doesn’t matter if it’s sketching, knitting/crocheting or cooking/baking interesting food. To create something gives me great pleasure. My 2023 goal is to sketch or paint from human photograph. Hope you can guide me. I want to be really good at sketching/painting my friends/family members. Thank you so much. ❤❤ TM.
You might have just saved me ❤ I’ve been miserable for years and wanting to give up and your passion took me right back to art school where I was so excited to do art. Thankyou
You are the real deal Jess! Thank you for sharing your art and your knowledge. A recent commitment to sketching anything and everything in my sketchbook DAILY became an easy habit for me and made huge improvements in my work and built neurons in my brain. I challenged myself with 30 days of sketching to get started.
One of the best , most inspirational videos for artists on RUclips, so positive and so well directed in terms of what to look out for , be wary of , it avoids all the pitfalls and down days in art. Well done, such talent far beyond art. A life coach and artist.
Jess thanks for pushing me out of my comfort zone for that is where we truly grow! This video is inspirational in content and your cinematography skills are through the roof!!! Looking forward to learning from you in 2023 😊❤
Thank you for sharing these! They’re really helpful! Honestly, the first habit hit the hardest, because I realised that it’s something I’ve managed to make a part of my subconscious. The moment I learned to step away from an artwork if it wasn’t going how I liked, I started liking my work. It helped me stop comparing myself to other artists, and now that I look at their work, I’m overwhelmed by ideas! BEST FEELING EVER 🎉
My goal for 2023 is to really get to work on the big project(s) that have been my long-term goal four at least 4 years. I keep going back and scrapping the idea, starting over, second guessing, and rewriting, redrawing, redoing everything, and I haven't made any progress, really. So, once this semester is over (art student at ASU Herberger), I'm going to dig in. I'd like to implement something smaller as well, like drawing every day in a simple sketchbook for 30 minutes or so.
Atomic Habits great read. My life is densely packed with interests so I find it important to daily implement sacred spaces of time: alternate between creative writing and exercising before sunrise. Drawing first thing in the morning at the studio, and a small painting from life in the afternoon. Reading and studying in the evenings. Thanks for a great video.
So much inspiration packed in this video! I'm in my second year now as a beginner, and I want to keep learning. A new goal for now is to post new art videos each week (just having that goal gets me to keep creating consistently), check out art-related books from my public library and make something inspired by each, and do an "art date" activity once a month.
I had a physics exam yesterday. I studied frantically so I could keep up my good grade streak, but I've grown enough to know that even if I don't manage to keep the streak, I still filled all the knowledge gaps I had in physics and achieved SOMETHING
My "trick" to boost confidence in drawing was to start doing "Daily Doodles". Just small pieces, sometimes no more than a wee Gnome (My default subject if I don't know what to draw 😉 ). I'm on day 328 now!
So cool! Thanks for sharing !
I completed 375 days yesterday
I’m on day 15 woohoo!
1004th day here. (To be honnest, I missed 1 day, just because I forgot...)
That's such a really good idea! I will give that a try :)
That sound you hear is us cheering out loud! Most of us on the Blick team are artists ourselves, and we need to hear this message as much as anyone. We think Jess' question, "What is something you've never drawn before?" should be what each of us starts every day asking!
Thanks Blick!
This is awesome :)
Also I am suddenly, intensely jealous of folks working at Blick, with access to the dented or at least discounted goods 😭
Jess is like an art guardian angel and she takes her own time to make us videos ,I just want jess to know we appreciate her.
Thank you!
That's beautiful! Thanks for sharing - have a lovely year!

Thank you very much for inspiring me 🥰♥♥
Incredible! Go for it! You got this. Thanks so much!!
I don’t scroll as much as ask the universe to bring me inspiration - and I think your good energy is inspiration from a loving universe. ✨🧘♀️
Let’s go!
ABSOLUTELY! That’s the spirit!!
we are so lucky to have you jess, you and your art never fail to put a smile on my face! thanks jess!
Thank you for your sweet words!
24:42 made me laugh and smile. I didn't know there was "such a thing " as action figure photography. I used to take photos of my soft-toys posing in childhood- I never thought that this would be for grownups, too :) thanks for the mind opener
I am going to start to think more about brainstorm what I would like to do for American Holidays!
Thank you so much! This is absolutely true! Thanks for sharing, supporting and wishing you a great new year!
I agree. Thanks so much for your support
How u get anything done with that amazing view is a magical feat in itself.
I have never felt so motivated in my life-
I am a young artist (14) and sometimes I feel like I am not good or old enough to create professional and good pieces of art, but rly all it takes is practice and patience.
Amazing! Yes! Thanks for watching
A habit to implement in 2023 is to find time to create even when there seem not to be any😄
Absolutely - their voice is so important. Thanks for watching and sharing your habit! :)
Thank you!!! One habit I want to implement this year is to practice patience.
Thanks! Thats great!
WOW! incredible :) Thank you so much for sharing! I am wishing you an incredible 2023!
YES!
Yes!! Go for it! Amazing :) YOU CAN DO THIS!!
@@artofjesskarp I have to thank you Jess for the video. it ignited a flame inside of me to stop what i'm doing & Draw anything
It's makes me smile😊 your work is as beautiful as you are and you both makes us happy 🤗huge thanks for inspiring us all❤God bless you🙏
Amazing’! So happy you are smiling! thanks for watching :)
Yes! Great idea :) go for it!
@@artofjesskarp Thank you for the encouragement it truly means a lot and helps things move forward
how i am happy living in the same lifetime as jess karp. we are so lucky :)💕
Aw thank you!!
I LOVE how you included other artists!!!
I have been trying to draw more for few months now and stop being lazy..
And now this year my goal is to start writing a journal , write everything I'm grateful about at the end of the day and set new small goals for tomorrow!!
Thank you! thats awesome! :) So excited for your growth!
Jess, you once again almost brought me to tears. You've got such an ability to touch my soul! As of my creative habit, I just want to create more than I consume - spend more time in my sketchbook than on my phone, so I could get more confident with my art and fuel my imagination through work 😊
Thank you so much!
You’ve said exactly what my heart was speaking, Lidia!
I’m feeling motivated to continue what my intentions are for my creativity this year. MORE OF IT. MORE OFTEN.
You are light! A big bright light!!!! Thank you for your video!
THANK YOU
Thank you so much Jess!
Thanks for watching! I am so glad you found it helpful and were able to relate :)
Super excited for an Art book by you! I'll try and wait patiently
Thanks Roxanne!
You are a witch... that's why I like you, I wish you all the best in this year 😊
Your video editing is going on another level.... Thanks for the message... Keep creating 🎨
Thanks!! You too
Two of my new things for this year will be to start a RUclips channel - and draw a squirrel. I always think of them as a lovely sign to be playful. 🐿✨
After this video I’ve got the motivation for daily sketching to bring me in a creative routine that been missing till yet. Thanks for this emotional and motivating video.
Awesome!! So glad you found it useful!!!
Thanks for having me Jess, awesome video jam packed with actionable steps, LETS GET TO WORK 💪
You hope that we love this video?
It takes off the pressure and helps me to stay consistent/disciplined to actually just practice (which will help me develop my skill)
2) FINISH THINGS!!
Thank you so much!
I'm sick with cold and this video was so inspiring... I was really sad that I'm stuck on pencil portraits and couldn't draw animals or paintings... thanks Jess... you've made my day
Yay!! Video from Jess is the best way to start the week!!
Yay!!
THE TIME IS NOW!!!! thanks for watching -everything flows as it flows
Thank you so much for sharing! Go for it! :)
You're very welcome! Thank you so much for sharing these are great! :)
I'm just starting my creative journey as a self taught "artist" and I hope to learn and grow in 2023. I want to be consistent in my practice and show up to my page everyday.
I'm definately trying this.
Listening to this while sketching is the best way to boost your confidence in your art! Thank you!
Thanks for the discount Jess! ❤️
Thanks for watching!
Wow - thanks so much for sharing! Amazing! :)
First off, Thank you to you and your artists peeps for sharing so generously.
My focus for 2023 is minimum 15 mins of art time each day, along with continuing "coffee & sketchtoast!
Thanks so much for watching! Coffee and sketchtoast sounds lovely!! :D
Thanks so much. Loved your message and those of the other creatives you included. ❤
They're awesome humans! Thanks for watching
Letting go of perfection and having fun with mixed media to find out what works best for me at this moment in life.
The view from your window though..😮😍a motivation to create anything!
The way you always manage to make me feel safe and encouraged through your videos is so fascinating! I'm currently trying to deal with chronic fatigue and autistic burnout. Thank you for being you!

HI! last year I made my own handmade mixed media sketchbook with all kinds of different paper types so I can draw using any medium the moment inspiration hit and It worked!
Thankyou Jess, Sarah, Slew, Nienke, Sunday, Leen, Barron, Linda, Zac & Kiptoe ✨🫶🏻✨ You’re all awesome 🌞
My most favorite thing to do is to create something.

Thank you so much!! That’s awesome congrats and Goodluck!
Wow! The new portion of inspiration! Thank you so much for all you do for us 😍

Looking forward to learning from you in 2023 😊❤
To get better at gouache n digital art n finally start my RUclips I even bought a GoPro 9 thanks for sharing your the best ❤
Wow! Awesome! Wishing you best of luck :) Can't wait to see what you do!
I took the challenge of designing my own deck of cards, each card also has an inspiring quotes. Thank you Jess, for pushing me to try new things. ❤️❤️
Aren’t you GREAT! What a superstar.
Amazing! Thank you so much or sharing :)
@@artofjesskarp Thank you for asking!
Have patience, practice, & networking with other alike minded artists and people are my top three take aways. Thanks for this wonderful video, Jess!
