This is the any% TAS of Donkey Kong Country 2. It aims for overall fastest completion and doesn't give a flying banana about bonus rooms. Warp barrels are used whenever possible, meaning a large part of almost every stage in the first two worlds is skipped.
This is an improvement of 01:33.43 over the previous movie (tasvideos.org/1873M). As usual, longer loading times in a more accurate emulator take away some of the gross improvement time. If only comparing the length of the levels, the total improvement would be 01:39.05. See the author's notes for a more detailed breakdown.

Thanks for this. TAS of the DKC games and Super Metroid hold the record of making me fall asleep the fastest due to the soft sounds and music in these games, always great to watch on a sleepless night.

This is the type of TAS video that would really benefit from commentary by the runners who made this.
This is a re-encode of the 2016 movie. The reason is due to a bug in this version of the emulator that causes lag frames to be completely skipped, and the audio to speed up when that happens.

Wouldn't there be any new time saves after 5 years? Or did they declare that it was the absolute they could do, on an emulator that didn't even get the frame skipping right?

Also the wrong warp setups at 20:43 and 22:56 are a huge mindfuck. The second one is especially hilarious, these ledge jumps around the mices are crazy !

This is my version of ASMR. It’s very soothing.
The bird levels were insane to watch especially there honey level where you have to fall using the bird. But this player didn’t use the bird and I almost got motion sickness

no. only first 2 worlds have Dev intended stage skip barrels. the rest of the level skips are a glitch that is Not intended.
I think all DKC2 runs should be required to change the sound to stereo at the beginning, even if it costs a couple frames.
I do enjoy Parrot Chute Panic on fast forward

Because this run was from 2016, and Arctic Abyss zip was discovered around 2018. It's as simple as "no one knew about it".

@@Alan-cm7ye Actually, i speedrun this game, only the wrong warps in ghostly grove are impossible without tas, gusty is possible but very persice and difficult.
