- This is a tool-assisted speedrun. For more information, see tasvideos.org/4119M
TAS originally published on 2020-03-03
Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong are on a quest to retrieve the former's banana horde from the Kremlings. They are doing it as quickly as possible, without bothering to enter all the bonus rooms.
This run is 00:25.39 seconds faster than the previous ( tasvideos.org/3117M ) submission, mostly due to new routes using glitches in the levels Jungle Hijinx and Platform Perils. To understand what is going on in more detail, we suggest reading the submission notes ( tasvideos.org/6599S ).
If you desire more rolling primates, we recommend watching the 101% completion movie ( tasvideos.org/3415M ). We also have a walkathon ( tasvideos.org/3956M ) that completes the game at a more leisurely pace. - Игры
I've only heard corrupted versions of the opening logo for so long that I expected it to spiral off.
Lol fitting comment considering your pfp
@@tammid8423Bro, this comment is from 4 years ago 💀
@@pintudo7913 Ik but look at the coincidence lmao
That DK running animation is cursed. lol
I understood nothing and was still entertained
It is indeed a bit confusing to understand what's happening, with the random deaths and such.
I did a long answer to the comment below to explain a lot of it, in case you want some explanations. I'll gladly explain anything else as well if curious.
@@TompaA I think you can let it suffice to say that literally anything that is done in a TAS is to save time in one way or another.
@@CeeJayThe13th Why, of course. But the question can sometimes be "Why is it faster?", as a lot of people are interested in knowing =). To just say "Because it's faster" is, to me, not a very satisfyable or enjoyable answer, however correct it may be.
@@TompaA I can see what you mean but it'll depend on the audience.
monke spin
6:26 not even diddy kong gets wtf is going on here
That moment at 5:14 is so damn satisfying.
I'll never forget the first time I finally killed King K. Rool, I got up and started to dance and celebrate. Then he woke up and bopped me
The way you throw the DK barrel in the beginning is genius! Would have never thought that would work out as well.
It seems very random if you don't know what's going on behind the scenes :D. It's hard to spot any of the split-up effects, really.
Hey, do you mind explaining me what's going on please ? :)
@@flo3804 the description of this video has a link to how everything in this run was done.
@@flo3804 What EZG said. But I can gladly explain parts in detail if curious.
@@TompaA I would love it ! Thanks for proposing
6:07 to 6:18 THUG LIFE!!!
*"WHERE IS MY **_B A N A N A"_*
2:40 this bug is super nutty, did not see that coming
3:17 what is happening here, I'm super curious how going back to the previous level and dying a few times helps the run
5:25 aaaaand we're at King K, how did we get here lmao
This run is crazy, I love it.
As for 3:17: We were setting up a glitch called Split Up. You need both a DK barrel and a pit to die in. That level was the best to set it up in, which is why we backtracked.
First off you need to enter a finished level, throw a DK barrel and press Start+Select to exit before it breaks. Next you need to enter a level, take a hit and fall down a hole. If you are not above a hole, you'll land on the ground and softlock, because the game is waiting for the second Kong to show up, but we don't got him yet. We actually set up the same glitch in the two first level, though a slightly different method. Instead of using Start+Select, we can also throw a DK barrel, have it land on a corner of a platform so that it keeps rolling; something that is normally not possible with DK barrels, and then regrab it. This requires a lot of speed to do, which we in the first level did using a Corner Boost, this was not possible to do the second time around.
The first time we did it was to do the Wrong Warp at 1:50. When the setup is done, the next time you break a DK barrel, you'll be able to control both Kongs at the same time. For the warp to work correctly for us to reach level 6-2, we need to exit the bonus with both Kongs on the same frame.
The second time we did a use of this was at 4:45. The DK barrel is broken and DK comes out. At the same time, Diddy jumps into the bonus barrel, though as Donkey is not actually following Diddy, as both are controller at the same time, Donkey falls to his death. When done here, it will take you of the stage and it counts as being beaten.
Late reply, but I hope that explains it somewhat. If more details are wanted, I can gladly provide.
@Tompa A Thanks, dude! I love long explanations for these kinds of tricks, appreciate it lots!
@@PastelPiku My pleasure! :D
Very nice job and great spectacle!!! amazing

Reposting from submitted video: Great work!
Last input point is amazing.
If you have an infinite amount of monkeys with an infinite amount of time, at least one of them will come up with this run.
Infinite monkey theorem. 😊
Note: the thing in 1-1 (not having to revisit the level) was found by -Tompa- correction: Hidaigai (see first reply).
The wrong warp in Platform Perils was found by DKCyaLater.
Just giving credit where it's due. :)
While I did find the original method for the BarrelBoost-Split Up, it was hidaigai who found the actual use of it.
Just saying =).
@@TompaA Wait seriously? If this was said then I'm blind LOL
ty for correcting me though lol
@@Pixiuchu Hidaigai originally posted about it here: tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=491468#491468 which was based on my video: ruclips.net/video/48KGrI59pM8/видео.html
That’s a sub for you😂
@@sbeagle333 uhm ok
have you seen my dkc2gba tas yet
I'm not a follower but I ended up on a TAS video loop lol
What's the trick of returning to Manic Mincers to do the barril start+select and returning again to die and not going straight up to Loopy Lights?
It was a setup for the Split Up trick, it allowed us to skip the final level by going into the Bonus Barrel and skip to the worlf map.
A Split Up glitch was also set up in the first level - in order to execute the warp to Manic Mincers - which was why we picked up the DK barrel and jumped around with it. This method is faster but could not be used in the later world.
K. Rool: "BWA-HA-HA!!! I've stolen DK's entire Banana Hoard, and it's going to take him forever to get it back!!!"
SpongeBob announcer guy: "Five and a half minutes later..."
Diddy Kong, in his worst Mario imitation, cartwheeling in the air: "Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-YAHOO!!!"
5:25 Best part
Hermoso juego el mejor sin duda
Your move, Cranky
Old Times :,)
7:53 Ou Ou Ou Ou
1 hour Cranky? DK just made it in less than 8 minutes xD
But Cranky did it with 0 lives, I had to die once!

@@TompaA Thank you bro
Kkkkk muito
what is 1:11
If you have one Kong on the overworld, you can press a button in one of the four places where the road bends in the W1 map, and you'll be warped. This only works on the earlier versions of the game, and won't work if you play the Switch Online version for example.
@@TompaA my god, you've just answered a question i had for my entire life, thank you so much
@@meepdos5774 Haha, you're welcome! So that was the only part about the run you didn't understand? :)
@@TompaA well... of course not, but that was the only part i remember seeing a long time ago (like, when i was 5yo) and tried to do, but could not understand how
@@meepdos5774 We have some notes in the submission text, which you can find a link to in the description, but there are loads of things we never explain. So if you want some details, I won't mind filling in.
Whattttttttttt?????
This is clearly just a casual playthrough 0/10
I do not accept this sorry !!
