I've been following Son of a Glitch almost since it started and it always had a ton of views.
But one day I checked the older videos and I noticed most didnt even come CLOSE to the amount you got on this series.
So my question is: How did you feel when you got that sudden burst of views and subs and etc? :P

What causes the visual glitches to occur, the ones where Rambi becomes DK (shutter) and the like? Is there a specific value the game is trying to read or is the cause unknown at the moment?
You missed the negative lives glitch:
1. Game over
2. Enter down, Y, down, down, Y (ie DYDDY) on file select menu. You enter a bonus game testing room.
3. Press Start, then Select. You'll be back at the map screen with a blank lives counter.
Hopefully I remembered that right.
Well, there are loads and loads of glitches he "missed", it's impossible to cover them all really.
There are actually multiple ways of getting negative lives. You can also do it with the split up glitch.
I should watch WAY more Donkey Kong Country Glitches.
Tompa A I bet you can get ACE with split-up glitch and/or invisible barrel. Seems very similar to SMW's sprite glitches.

I think if you use the walking underwater glitch combined with riding Engarde, then you walk through walls so you can fall off the screen to die.

NetherBoy yes. especially how a pro action replay/ganeshark can irrepirably damage the cartridge. also it would be nice to see Donkey Kong Country 2 with the infamous Castle Crush glitch
I very much enjoyed the basic runthrough of an any% run, it really shows that these aren't just silly things, but that they are applicable.
Probably one of the best games of my childhood. Just finished another playthrough of it ;) Next time i'll try some of these!

What about the volatile invisible barrel glitch towards the end of the game? I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was known to corrupt saves and eve damage hardware. At least worth an honorable mention to me.

Doesn't throwing the invisible barrel cause your cartridge to become unusable? Or am I thinking of one of the other DKC games?
It could happen in the level Castle Crush for DKC2 for example. Though I've never heard that it completely ruins the cart, or at least not seen any evidence for it, but it may delete your save file(s). That said: It's very very rare for it to happen. Speedrunners use this glitch all the time in several levels, it's 100% safe when you know how it works.
For this game, it could be possible that somethng like that would happen here as well, but it's nothing I've ever come across during my years of doing it.
I think you’re talking about the second Country game in the Castle Crush level, it’s hard to tell just how true a lot of the stories told about it are (though it definitely does at least have a tendency to erase your save files), and the effects are 100% predictable, making it possible to avoid anything data-corrupting if you know what you’re doing.

Something else about the map screen warp: You don't have to ditch your buddy if you both get into an airplane barrel from Funky Flights, but that requires you to complete just a bit more of the game.

i remember always triggering that background glitch as a kid. that was fun, also, the further you go forward and then go back you can mess up the background even more, as long as you dont lose espresso or go back to far to the point the background doesnt change anymore
When performing the split up glitch, I made DK DD jump on rambi and the second one’s color palette looked like cat poop 🤣
6:55 was my drummer's Miiverse picture all the way until the end of the service and Nintendo technically couldn't do anything about it because it was an oversight and he uploaded it while the Virtual Console ROM file was suspended! That's how you post gay porn to Miiverse and get away with it!

I remember finding a few glitches in Secret of Evermore, mostly visual ones you get when spamming alchemical formulae, though there is a gamebreaking one where if you hold the land button on an airship whilst still flying forward you'll occasionally land someplace without your airship.
