It would likely have been totally different if I actually read spoilers, but I just saw a scene and wondered where it was from.
This is an actual reaction and not played up I've never felt actual anger when reading any manga but the eclipse is absurd so much amazing stuff leading up to that terrible moment it just hurts, so much
We will never recover from this chapter. But one thing Berserk teaches us that we can all take to heart: even in the darkest of times and after great suffering, there can still be hope. We may be damaged but we are not broken irreparably
DAMN, IM FEELING IT RIGHT NOW!!!! Guess thats an UNIVERSAL experience, Vol 12 makes men hug and cry. The cry and the song hit so deep. Tears, anger and guts theme defines that volume perfectly.
I started two years ago. I can’t imagine being a day-one reader and going through all of the hiatuses and waits you guys have been through for so long. It’s phenomenal but the waiting is killing me now and it’s only been a short time.
@TheHippyProductions Miura completed the manuscript before he died. His friend, another mangaka, took over to complete it in his stead and has already released more chapters, though its been slow which is to be expected
Though I'm not an anime fan, when I found the 1997 anime by chance, my mind froze for a whole week and it changed some of my insights about this whole life. It got me to the manga. Its philosophy is so deep, but has some fallacies. Good luck for new readers.
The fallacies in philosophy often come from the individual meaning there's nothing wrong with the philosophy there's only something wrong to you it's a staple of philosophical debate no one will agree on everything also Griffith was going insane
@@tonythetwitch5813 No a lot of characters are going insane so there's a lot of philosophical fallacies as their sens of meaning is biased by their scars.
I mean it's just a story with characters that have their own philosophies, it's the characters that we look through, see ourselves in and find these philosophies. Characters, like humans, are and should be flawed. There is no perfect philosophy, everyone is different.
To this day, I am still amazed how Berserk went from a casual anime in a typical but grounded war setting with human problems during wartime to an absolute clusterfest of abuse, pain, demons, horror, otherworldly beings and just in general a complete downhill ride.
It goes from a low fantasy to a nightmarish dark fantasy and somehow makes it look natural Tho ofc there was the Black Swordsman arc warning us beforehand
Ngl the eclipse at the end of the anime broke me. I honestly thought Zodd showing up out of nowhere was the most horrific thing I'd see. *Zodds warning to Griffith was as much for us as it was him*
Bruh, unlike most animes and mangas that throw r**e scene out of nowhere for shock value, first time watching eclipse in Berserk nearly made me tear up for Guts. Just the betrayal and the dreams he had, hits so close to home.
It’s not really there for no reason, it was built up that Griffith wanted Casca but couldn’t have her because she was his subordinate and he needed to keep on the mission. He finally decided to “have her” the way he wanted and to also fuck over Guts as payback for leaving the band.
@@sullivandmitry1416 Yea that's basically what he is saying. Other anime and manga throw it in out of left field, while in Berserk the Griffith and Casca scene was built up over a whole arc.
I see a lot of people write that they felt dead inside after watching the 1997 anime. This is one of my favourite animes of all time but what I felt was different. I felt anger and hatred beyond imagination at the end, which somehow made me feel alive, not in a healthy way but my heart was burning with intensity.
We've all been there. I remember watching the anime adaptation (1997) back in high school, when the episodes were still uploaded on RUclips. Felt dead inside for several days afterwards.
I recently watched Berserk 1997... I immediately liked the atmosphere and attention to details, I watched episode after episode all day and night... And how quickly events turned upside down in the most terrifying way... I went out onto the balcony , lit a cigarette, thought a lot, cried... A couple of days later, I decided to watch the next seasons, and immediately become blind due to 3D. As soon as I could see, I started reading manga. One of the best in terms of graphics and details, in my opinion. A wonderful piece of art, I will get to the end, no matter how many tears will drop.
I've watched anime since middle school (started with AOT) but Berserk in sophmore year of high school was the first manga I read. Few things have stuck with me like that. So glad my first experience of it was the manga.
@@Mepharias Berserk manga will never disappoint you in terms of graphics, deatails and plot twists. It’s kinda heavy to be first manga for some people, I mean that philosophy of berserk is really deep and complicated for guys who don’t like to use their brain and don’t want to lose their sleep due to deep thoughts at 4pm ;) As I already said, berserk is monumental piece of manga art, but I also can say the same about AOT and death note manga and anime. At one time I’ll prefer to watch/read regular story about japanese school girls etc, but at another time I’ll prefer to break my mind and cry in front of the screen as i did when i watched berserk for the first time
I can't explain why, but every single man had this feeling in his live. Feeling of overhelmed and helpless. When you are unable to help your loved ones. I have this feeling right now, i understand you. You're not alone.
My introduction to Berserk was warching the fan made Redux where one man single handedly has pieced together all the adaptations and pieced them together in such a way to fill in all the different dialogues and fill in holes others missed but maybe a movie did cover. It came out awesome. Takes a full 10 hours to watch. Beautifully done. 😢 I had to take a break after The Eclipse, to cope and process everything i just experienced. I was prepared for just how dark that got. I have no other words for this story. Its a roller coaster ride of emotions. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll feel nauseous. But you’ll love it in the end.
People dont talk about the fact that art and creative works can leave a lasting and powerful impression on you for the rest of your life. Hope, inspiration, joy, sadness, anger, love, hate and even trauma. I still feel this chapter in my chest when I think about it.
I’m on volume 5 and as much as I enjoy it, I wonder how disappointed am I going to be when I finally get caught up and learn that it’ll never be finished and end on a cliffhanger…
The thing about berserk is that like any other good story, the experience can't really be tarnished. You can read the continuation or stop with his last chapter (like me), i don't think you will be bummed out
@@hacooray525 Mori was quite involved in Berserk, and is going to continue the manga as faithfully to Miura's vision as possible (bar a few extremely minute details). The difference shouldn't be too noticeable.

when i realised what was about to happen during the eclipse i had to pause, stand up and get my shit together before i finish watching it. No other series has made me feel this way
I first learned about this manga in Japan when I was in elementary school, but by the time I was in middle school, all my friends were reading this manga. There were a lot of works in Japan, not just Berserk, that were quite extreme for teenagers to watch at the time, but now I think it was a good thing.
Volume 1 is the probe of shock factor the,”oh, it’s one of THOSE manga” then the “holy shit” and “damn” then golden age is,”this is awesome! Wonder what happens.” Then IT happens and everything spirals as your head can’t comprehend what you just saw and what was lost at the same time. The restless nights and dread follow. Then the ultimatum: do you keep going, or end it here?
Dammit man.. Am I gonna have to read this thing?.. I don’t even like anime.. but man I’ve been getting Berserk references of all types for about a year and a half on my feeds.. it’s time?
Do it. Dont get spoiled. Dont watch the movies or the anime. Read the manga. I wish I did because what happens would have hit 100 times harder if I wasnt spoiled by the animated adaptations because the manga is raw, uncensored, unforgiving and relentless.
Memes aside, this was SO accurate to my experience. After The Eclipse, I was stunned, speechless. I just sat staring blankly at the wall for a few minutes, then the tears came. I immediately had to keep reading though once I calmed down. I needed to know what Guts would do next. No work of fiction has ever hit me that hard emotionally, and it stays with me even years later. Miura was a master of his craft. The world will never be the same without him. As an added side note, Lost Children actually hit me just as hard. The effects of Guts' trauma on full display, it was heartbreaking to see him like that. I was glad he was getting better, even getting to talk to Casca again (kind of). But now with these new chapters.. I have no idea what to expect. I just want to see my boy smile again.
i think eclipse is a culmination of physcial and emotional horror that none of the other arcs come close to seeing as we watch all the characters weve come to love and get close to get brutally murdered by their own leader or best friend in the case of gutts.

I saw the scene for it in very first anime adaption - that Was literally the only thing I saw of the series before I decided to read it.
.........
The build up to that point in the manga, as well as the context of the scene and the tragedy of the event of which it is a total different experience.
It would likely have been totally different if I actually read spoilers, but I just saw a scene and wondered where it was from.

I've never felt actual anger when reading any manga but the eclipse is absurd so much amazing stuff leading up to that terrible moment
it just hurts, so much
I watched a 21 hour video on the entire berserk lore from the very beginning to the very last page ever drawn. I enjoyed every. Single. Moment of it
Everytime I read that chapter some primitive rage fills inside me then its quickly overcome by a feeling of helplessness and depression
Just thinking about it makes me tear up it's such a good chapter with great art style but so depressing.
Beautiful, ain’t it?
Berserk touched his heart so much his hair started growing back
We will never recover from this chapter. But one thing Berserk teaches us that we can all take to heart: even in the darkest of times and after great suffering, there can still be hope. We may be damaged but we are not broken irreparably
THE PAIN... I felt so emotional so many times from that thing the guy who made it was 50 years ahead of his time
DAMN, IM FEELING IT RIGHT NOW!!!!

@wallcity318 hang in there. Surprisingly, a new chapter released last week

It goes from a low fantasy to a nightmarish dark fantasy and somehow makes it look natural
Tho ofc there was the Black Swordsman arc warning us beforehand
You know there's a problem when great bloody wars in a more or less realistic medieval era is called the golden age
Godhand fucked everything up.
Ngl the eclipse at the end of the anime broke me. I honestly thought Zodd showing up out of nowhere was the most horrific thing I'd see.
*Zodds warning to Griffith was as much for us as it was him*
Did you start from Golden Age?
Bruh, unlike most animes and mangas that throw r**e scene out of nowhere for shock value, first time watching eclipse in Berserk nearly made me tear up for Guts. Just the betrayal and the dreams he had, hits so close to home.
It’s not really there for no reason, it was built up that Griffith wanted Casca but couldn’t have her because she was his subordinate and he needed to keep on the mission. He finally decided to “have her” the way he wanted and to also fuck over Guts as payback for leaving the band.
"Shock value" bitch that's literally the reason why anime's and manga's throw those scenes

Nothing can prepare you for something that just gets tougher and tougher to read, like all you wants is for Guts to get to relax but it never comes
Don't feel bad. If you didn't feel this way, you're the crazy one.
We've all been there. I remember watching the anime adaptation (1997) back in high school, when the episodes were still uploaded on RUclips. Felt dead inside for several days afterwards.
They are still on RUclips, I watched it like last week
Deep. Berserk has always been such a sad but meaningful story about the horrors of humanity.

Be Like Guts Dont Lose Hope Whatever Happens In Your Life Keep Moving Forward 👍
I can't explain why, but every single man had this feeling in his live. Feeling of overhelmed and helpless. When you are unable to help your loved ones. I have this feeling right now, i understand you. You're not alone.

That’s how I felt after ch 375
If some day we can see Guts accomplishing his revenge it will be the most satisfying pay back moment from history I mean a revenge after +20 years
My introduction to Berserk was warching the fan made Redux where one man single handedly has pieced together all the adaptations and pieced them together in such a way to fill in all the different dialogues and fill in holes others missed but maybe a movie did cover.

I first learned about this manga in Japan when I was in elementary school, but by the time I was in middle school, all my friends were reading this manga. There were a lot of works in Japan, not just Berserk, that were quite extreme for teenagers to watch at the time, but now I think it was a good thing.
"The man is born good, volume 13 of berserk corrupts him"
Volume 1 is the probe of shock factor the,”oh, it’s one of THOSE manga” then the “holy shit” and “damn” then golden age is,”this is awesome!
I don’t even like anime.. but man I’ve been getting Berserk references of all types for about a year and a half on my feeds.. it’s time?
Do it, read it.
Do it. Dont get spoiled. Dont watch the movies or the anime. Read the manga. I wish I did because what happens would have hit 100 times harder if I wasnt spoiled by the animated adaptations because the manga is raw, uncensored, unforgiving and relentless.
All flows according to causality
Dude its about damn time to read the manga! This moment is destined for you to read it!!!
Sure, highly recomended. If you don't have enough time, you can read it while working out in each rest between sets
