I remember when I picked up Berserk. I worked at a library and one of my coworkers, Brandon the IT man, told me to read Berserk. I vividly remember reading this volume during work. I had the book opened and was bawling my eyes out, he came back from lunch saw me crying and was like "eclipse?" I just nodded. And he said "happens to everyone man"
I saw the series when Kazaa was a thing, downloading those episodes, and shit that ending lol I will never ever forget. It's 2023 and I'm still waiting for that happy or some what happy ending and I waited since 1999.
I knew Griffith was going to do that to casca but to see how it unfolded was crazy I didn’t not know about the ellipse so when it happened I knew it was probably going to happen then I did not expect the last episode to leave off like that made me read berserk only manga I read just read in like 6 days

The Griffith's rape of Caska is a horrific moment, but it gets even worse once you take an even deeper look at it. The way he's having Guts pinned down by that demons, close enough but still far way. On his knees. It's all so he can take his revenge on Guts, he blames Guts for everything that happened, he hates him for taking over the Hawks from him, he's doing it all so he can show to Guts that he's superior, that Guts and Caska belong to him. Griffith never felt true attachment to anyone, he always saw everyone as his subjects, not his friends. Also keep in mind of what happened to Guts when he was a kid, Guts is practically forced to relive the whole thing again. Griffith was practically raping two people at the same time. And also, since Grffith has all sort of Godhand powers, he was probably aware of Caska's pregnancy, so he raped her to corrupt the fetus, so he could later use that same child to be reborn in real world. He's a true monster.
I don’t really agree that he didn’t really care about anyone, because if that was true, he wouldn’t given a shit about Guts leaving the hawks. Maybe a little bit annoyed, since Guts was integral to Griffiths success, but he’d get over it, but no. He was devastated when he left. All that may apply to the rest of the hawks, but Guts was the only true friend he ever had.

bro that volume took everything I loved and destroyed it, despite such the gut wrenching, pain staking, sad part, it’s still such a beautiful story, the story telling is phenomenal and so so sad.
I have felt many different emotions in literature like happy, sad, depressed, angry etc but this was the first time, I felt betrayal, violated. And that is despite us knowing that Griffith is a bad guy meaning the writer 100% knew what he was doing and it worked.

The eclipse does a man dirty and even after months of not reading it, this does still hurt a person mentally and emotionally no one was ready for this volume.
I can feel your feel. It is like seeing something you shouldn't see, hearing something you shouldn't hear, tasting something you shouldn't taste. It left a scar on you forever, but just like the manga itself. Only by acceptance, you can get past through it......

shit bro, watching your review makes me remember how i really felt when i first went through the eclipse man that shit was brutal, i don't think any manga could ever make me feel the same way, This was like the Red Wedding of Game of Thrones kinda but for some reason felt even more intense to me at the time...its some crazy shit...crazy good tho hahahah. its a real roller coaster of a series.

I watched the anime like in 2001, it had a big impact. Read the manga some time later like 2004, even knowing whats coming, still hard to read through. Its 2016 now, and Miura isn't done, but the art now is sooo good.
I just finished the volume and I'm fucking shaking! The tears went flowing out when Guts went outside and just screamed and tore his bandages of.. I felt his anger.. And your reaction when you threw away the volume, real emotion man.
One of the most harrowing moments from any manga I've ever read, to this day, I dread the Eclipse in every re-read, but that is essentially the freaking point. Band of Hawk being slaughtered and everything happening like that, it didn't felt like I was being guilt to feel or cry. It actually felt like everything I loved about the manga as a human, was being taken away. It was so scary, so painful, so heavy.....so real, yet, unreal.
The other week I started Berserk & commented on your first review. Yesterday I finished the Golden Age arc. All I can say is so far it has been nothing but a heartbreaking mesmerizing journey. Truly different.

I’m almost mad at kenturo for allowing us to get so attached to the characters, knowing what was gonna happen, especially to guts and casca. ( my fav characters) but it really shows how much of a genius he was. Berserk is a true masterpiece and I really hope they plan to continue the series, or at the least just tell us how kenturo was going to end the series. Rip to him though
i've only seen memes of this video. this just popped up in my recommendations and paused as soon as it started as of i am still on volume 10. i will return after i read volume 13 and see if i can relate to this man.
it took me around 5-10 minutes to process what happened. i had to sit there and run it back in my mind. once those minutes were up i broke down in tears, man. truly an amazing work of art in fiction.

I use this video to show people how intense this shit can get. This is one of the best warnings one can give to people. I remember not being able to continue reading. I repeatedly got up, walked around the house, when everybody else was sleeping and then tried to read some pages more before getting up again.

Not only did the eclipse from the Golden Age Arc in the manga make me tear up, but even watching the final scene from the Golden Age Arc III movie on Netflix made me tear up. That final scene of Femto raping Casca is gruesome dude, and harder to watch in my opinion.
I rarely shed any tears when it comes to books/manga/films ect. When Gaston died in Guts arms I did exactly what you did threw the book on the ground and just balled my eyes out for 5 minutes. Seeing the emotion and hope Guts had that one of his brothers in arms was still alive in his biggest moment of need to just die few moments later was heart breaking! Just shows out good Muira was!

Definitely the turning point for this series. Don't listen to those who say anything past the Eclipse is trash. In fact, it only gets better and the lore continues to expand.
I remember reading that scene for the first time, and then when that scene with Casca, I fucken broke down into tears. Nothing prepares you for that kinda thing, and the horrifying reality that it is in fact happening.

Dude the eclipse actually hit me much harder the like 8th time through the series because that’s when I actually developed attachments for each one, the first time was shocking for sure but didn’t carry the weight until I learned to love the story more
I remember wachting this anime episode, and i couldnt wacht it completely, because crying so dam hard and didnt want to belive in what i was wachting, but yeah, Kentaro Miura is a genius for achiving this level of depth. Literaly nothing else, moovies, series, books, made me feel the way I felt

Remember feeling so . . drained after reading the Eclipse. I knew beforehand that the band of the hawk would meet tragedy and that Guts would have some really traumatizing shit. But I still wasn't ready for the unfiltered hellish reality of it. Being there with him made me feel his rage, his confusion, his utter helplessness and desperation. And finally learning later what that creepy thrall shadowing Guts everywhere truly was . . . Jesus I wasn't ready. It's a miracle Guts can still form words after such hell.

It’s been 4 years since this video went up. I read this for the first time about the same time as you and it wrecked me so bad.
One of the most harrowing moments from any manga I've ever read, to this day, I dread the Eclipse in every re-read, but that is essentially the freaking point. Band of Hawk being slaughtered and everything happening like that, it didn't felt like I was being guilt to feel or cry. It actually felt like everything I loved about the manga as a human, was being taken away. It was so scary, so painful, so heavy.....so real, yet, unreal.
Couldn't believe it. 😞

I’m almost mad at kenturo for allowing us to get so attached to the characters, knowing what was gonna happen, especially to guts and casca. ( my fav characters) but it really shows how much of a genius he was. Berserk is a true masterpiece and I really hope they plan to continue the series, or at the least just tell us how kenturo was going to end the series. Rip to him though
i've only seen memes of this video. this just popped up in my recommendations and paused as soon as it started as of i am still on volume 10. i will return after i read volume 13 and see if i can relate to this man.
it took me around 5-10 minutes to process what happened. i had to sit there and run it back in my mind. once those minutes were up i broke down in tears, man. truly an amazing work of art in fiction.

The Band of the Hawk didnt deserve that.
Not only did the eclipse from the Golden Age Arc in the manga make me tear up, but even watching the final scene from the Golden Age Arc III movie on Netflix made me tear up. That final scene of Femto raping Casca is gruesome dude, and harder to watch in my opinion.
I rarely shed any tears when it comes to books/manga/films ect. When Gaston died in Guts arms I did exactly what you did threw the book on the ground and just balled my eyes out for 5 minutes. Seeing the emotion and hope Guts had that one of his brothers in arms was still alive in his biggest moment of need to just die few moments later was heart breaking! Just shows out good Muira was!

I remember reading that scene for the first time, and then when that scene with Casca, I fucken broke down into tears. Nothing prepares you for that kinda thing, and the horrifying reality that it is in fact happening.

Dude the eclipse actually hit me much harder the like 8th time through the series because that’s when I actually developed attachments for each one, the first time was shocking for sure but didn’t carry the weight until I learned to love the story more
I fell in love from the get-go, so it hit me so hard. I didn't realize we were going to lose all the characters I grew attached to. :(

Remember feeling so . . drained after reading the Eclipse. I knew beforehand that the band of the hawk would meet tragedy and that Guts would have some really traumatizing shit. But I still wasn't ready for the unfiltered hellish reality of it. Being there with him made me feel his rage, his confusion, his utter helplessness and desperation. And finally learning later what that creepy thrall shadowing Guts everywhere truly was . . . Jesus I wasn't ready. It's a miracle Guts can still form words after such hell.
Finally decided to read Berserk a month ago and reached the Eclipse today. I was so fucking angry but also incredibly heartbroken, much like this.
It's such a tragic tale.

I just read the eclipse today , the moment that I felt the most was Gaston’s and Corkus’s Death , they were so afraid that they started to think that all was just a dream , even Gaston tried to break the fourth wall because of how absurd things were , fuck me
