Sadly was wondering the same thing.
Does he even believe in repentance or not?
How long does sexual sin need to be punished and keep you from leading a church?
If he needs to do jail time, so be it.
But a man who repented needs to be restored.
And that poor woman needs to be fully restored as well

It changes your whole life & almost broke me; but Jesus found me & saved me. Shame on Morris for hurting & abusing that 12 year old girl! Not only did he lie about how old she was; he also blamed her for the reason why he did it.

According to an eye witness who was working at Shady Grove Church, he was originally sent to Shady Grove Church which became Gateway Church and was a traveling evangelist. He was married at 19 and at 21 was allowed to stay at the victims home when he was in town where he began the molestation on Christmas Day or as he calls it a "moral failure" or "inappropriate". He told her NOT to tell anyone. According to reports once he realized it may come out after four years of molesting her and he had been removed from his current ministry; James Robinson (Life Outreach) got somehow involved. He then took him to Shady Grove for "restoration". According to an eye witness the pastor Olen Griffing (a previous Texas State Trooper), James Robinson and another elder went to the girls home and MET with her parents. They all KNEW. Just so you know Olen Griffing is STILL at Gateway as an Apostolic Elder meaning over everyone as a leader in that church!! I can imagine they convinced the parents this would cause grevious harm to the church if this came out. Vile. After his so called restoration he was made an Elder at the ripe old age of 29. Just 3 Years after the molestation had ceased when the victim was 16. In his books and statements he referred to her as a young lady! He abused his position and power to groom the child and then went on to groom the church. He is part of a group of mega church pastors called ARK that all protect each other. He is said to currently be worth over 100 million. They are Pharisees and people need to read Matthew 24 over and over where Jesus confronts these Sons of Hell. Oh and BTW Roberts wife was kind enough to call the victim and tell her she forgave her!! He blamed the victim calling her flurtatious, a jezabelle and he was the VICTIM. She was 12! Pause on this, after years of therapy she obtained a lawyer to get some reimbursement for her therapy and offered half of what she ask for which was NOTHING and wanted her to sign an NDA she said no thank goodness. Repentence must be followed up by restitution and he should have been turned over to the authorities. And yes I was a an adult and mother at that time and men went to jail for molestation and rape of young girls.

That was a good summary of the interview Justin Peters had with a former member of the Shady Grove Church and a friend of Robert Morris' who was there when all of this was going on. A lot of facts came out in that video, but I can't stand Justin's attitude towards all Pentecostals/Charismatics.
If a Christian does not believe in his and John MacArthur's reformed theology, then they are false, according to Justin Peters and MacArthur.
It IS very possible that Robinson and other convinced the parents to protect the church, but we have no way of proving this unless James Robinson would come forth himself and admit he made a mistake. When I heard the eye witness say that James had him speaking at high schools and then within a year speaking at his crusades, the verse about not putting novices into leadership positions came to my mind.
The church planting organization you referred to was not ARK but ARC, the Association of Related Churches.

If he truly was a Christian he would've admitted his crime and turned himself in back then. But he and others chose to cover it up which is against God's Word, anything that's kept in the dark always gets brought out into the light. Him and this collective of churches involved are false.

It's sadly the reason many turn away from church.
I do appreciate the way Ruslan is reacting and calling this out.
We all need to be vigilant by demanding truth, transparency, while activating the appropriate punishment.
His resignation as a Pastor is the minimum punishment one should expect.
However, truthfully he should be arrested.
Children are our future, therefore need protecting.
It's time we brake the cycle of depravity and allowing Satan in.
It's not about the Church. The sickness in the human condition that believes protecting institutions is paramount over the concerns for the victim or victims needs to stop. Only then can kingdoms/societies heal and be cleansed.

In a RUclips interview by Justin Peters on 6/18/2024, Steve Leblanc, current pastor of Sherman Bible Church in Sherman, Texas and former Shady Grove Church pastor (1988-2002) and Gateway Church pastor (2011-2014) and very close friend of Robert Morris during that time states:
    1. Most elders did not know who the victim was at the time. He did not. He was told it was an "affair".
    2. James Robison most definitely knew the details because he met with the family.
    3. Olen Griffing, who is STILL an elder at Gateway Church, most definitely knew the truth because he met with the family.
    4. Robert Morris told Leblanc personally that the "woman" he had an affair with had a "Jessabelle Spirit", was very flirtatious and seduced him, and when he tried to cut it off, she threatened him with telling and demanded he keep seeing her. Leblanc had no idea he was talking about a 12-16 year old child!!!

    Where to begin… 🤔
Robert Morris came to my family’s home for dinner while traveling in ministry. My twin sister and I were 12 years old at the time. This was back in 1992 or 93.
He assaulted that girl for 4.5 years and what has now been found out, he didn’t really have much of a break in ministering after being found out. Once found out (no by confession) he was sorry he got caught. He is a liar and manipulator. 3 years after SA her, he was made an elder. The elders and James Robinson all knew how old she was. They met with her and her family at the time. Robert’s wife, Debbie also knew. The proceeded to cover it up. Lie about it and downplay it.
Debbie has tried for years to bring this to the light. God has bigger and better ways than we do. He’s bringing dark out to the light right now.
I was a member and worked at Gateway for a period of time. My dad was on staff for 9 years. My sister is currently on staff.
It wasn’t handled right in the beginning and it’s still not being handled right.
Robert Morris has been lying about this for over 35 years. In a book, at the pulpit as well. Some of the current elders know, I’m sure. Most leaders at Gateway do not, but I’m sure some do.
They already had a back up plan in place for when it came out. I suspect Gateway will fall apart. He had deceived so many. There are some people that were close to him speaking out. It’s heartbreaking. I knew things were not running right within Gateway and it always starts at the top and trickles down. Lots of power and manipulation running in that place. Their motto is, “We’re all about people”. And that’s exactly right, they’re not about Jesus. Only about pleasing people. My mom was told not to use sign language to sign Jesus during worship because it’ll basically give a bad taste in the mouth of visitors. My dad was told to let one of his employees know that if he didn’t get his teeth fixed, they’d fire him bc he just doesn’t look like Gateway. They’d let just about anyone pray with you at the alter. It could be an unsaved person or satan worshipper, there is know way they would know. I have always found that disturbing.
He needs to be in jail. All the others need a felony charge.
Praying for all dark to come to the light.

I'm confused about the elders saying they didn't know the age of the " young lady" until recently. According to the story, the only reason Morris stepped out of ministry was because the victim's father approached the elders at the time. The father of the victim told the elders of Shady Grove Church, that if Morris did not step out, he,( the victim's father) would get the police involved. Then Morris stepped out and did his two year "recovery". So how can any of these elder boards claim they were unaware of the victim 's age?

Maybe we can learn something from the Old Testament of the Tabernacle, the wash basin, since the lever was for the cleansing of the priest. Every time he became defile, the repeating use of the lever became necessary. God has commanded that every time the priest approached the altar of the tabernacle he must stop and wash at the brazan lever before ever approaching the Holy of Hollies, His presence.

Sometimes I wonder if there are enough Mill Stones!
Robert is right around the corner from Kenneth Copeland, TD Jakes, Ed Young, Tony Evans, Jack Graham, Robert Jeffress, Michael Todd... Dallas Theological Seminary really knows how to crank out the worst pastors on the planet... No one on staff would dare to confront one of these puffed up pastors.
I remember the very first time I ever went to Gateway Church, through an invitation by a friend back in 2002. They played music for well over an hour, so this is before Kari Jobe became popular. Then they did a ton of announcements for probably at least 45 minutes and then Finally Robert gets up on stage to speaks for about 22 minutes, bec that how long his TV show airs!
I went to their Freedom Ministry each week when Bob Hamp lead it; covering a differnt Deliverance topic which were great, but then I heard that FM was never the same after Bob left. We literally just sit there for about 1.5 or maybe 2 hours and Listen to someone teach...so I don't see how that could be effective for a pedo.
~ I was kidnapped for sx traffic king for 14 months, so I had 4 multiple personality disorder from the age of 6-50. 7 years ago at age 50 I was going to drive head on with an 18 wheeler, because doctors, medication, counseling, 12 step groups, accountability partners and especially the church couldn't help me.
Then I found out that it only takes 1 DAY to Listen to the New Testament Bible! 🎉
The TRUTH Completely Healed my mind, body, soul and spirit in 1 Day!
In 6.5 years I have Never again struggled with: anger, guilt, shame, lustful thoughts, loneliness, alcohol, drugs, insecurities, fear, depression, alcohol, unforgiveness, bad language, jealousy, worry, doubt, lying, complaining, pride, self-pity, suicidal thoughts-attempts, unforgiveness, etc...
I've read my Bible cover to cover every month for over 6 years. An Audio Bible is only 72 Hrs ÷ 30 Days = 2.4hrs a day! YHWY would much rather have 10% of our day, than 10% of our money.
So instead of wasting most of our time watching TV, Netflix, FB, YT, TikTok, Sports, Working out, Dating, Working O.T., Traveling, Sleeping in, etc...
We are clearly without excuse, when all we have to do is "Push Play", while we are getting ready, driving, cooking, eating, cleaning, exercising, walking the dog, soaking in the tub...
Because the time is short, nobody wants to find out that they are one of the foolish virgins, saying Lord, Lord, didn't I ___,__,__?
So I'd suggest take a week off work, and listen to the whole Bible in just 1 week:
      N Matt - Acts
      M Psm - Ecc
      T Josh - 2 King
      W Gal - Rev
      H Minors, Est - 2Chr
      F Isa -Dan
      S Gen - Deu
You can do that in the same amount of time it takes you to get ready for & driving back and forth to church. That's why I'll never attend another church. Matt 18;20 For where 2 or 3 gather in My name, there am I with them.

The day that the elders at The Austin Stone found out about abuse they dug into it and removed the leader at fault THE NEXT MORNING! Only a week later they had informed the members of every congregation and submitted a formal statement to the public along with informing the authorities. The leaders at The Austin Stone constantly talk about how their responsibility is to protect their flock.

It is silliness that Paul would even have come into the equation... especially considering he himself was the one to give the Commands of the Lord about Elders in the Church... People are trying to defend their own lives, thats all. They got hidden or even open sins that they are not surrendering and want to feel safe or something. The man is disqualified from Ministry, not the Kingdom. He can still make it unto the Salvation, but he is not fit and unqualified to be a Leader in the Church.

The man was arrested and spent four years in prison before being deported. This experience pretty much destroyed my daughter's life, and she was in and out of psychiatric institutions until she passed away in 2022. Those church elders may think that Morris' "restoration" took only 2 years, but this will affect his victim for the rest of her life. The fact that this was never reported to the police makes me absolutely sick. There should not be any statute of limitations for a crime like this.

The congregation raised their hands in the air, Stepford Wives smiles plastered on their faces, clapping when he said something they liked, treating him like a pop-star prophet. They had outgrown their capacity, so had leased 3 or 4 huge industrial spaces, converted them into satellites. Each had their own "worship team," then this man was livestreamedl onto a large theater-like screen! So fake! So pompous! I get why on some churches' websites they have online giving or tithing. This church went beyond that. At every entrance were ATM-looking machines, except only for taking money, no cash back lol. That was 10 years ago. I'm not suprised he "stepped down" rather than be terminated. A long time ago, he started this church in his house. I would not be suprised if he continues to financially benefit from this establishment. It is modern-day version of the temple full of money-makers that Jesus decried, flipping over the tables!
