I used to play music in bands on stages, in bars and festivals, high and drunk, getting fans and compliments. I can't describe the emptiness I felt. That culture and lifestyle almost killed me. 10 years later and I'm leading worship for my church and singing for God, bringing glory to His name. God saved me for His Glory, and I'm filled because of him. Through Christ I am free. He flips the script, just like you said.
My husband was also in a Heavy Metal band playing drums. He loved slipknot etc. Then God rescued him. His now the worship drummer at our local church. Using his talent 100% for God.
I grew up in the methodist church and did confirmation. Not much bible in service. It wasn't until after college that my future father-in-law asked if I was 100% sure I would get to heaven when I died. I said yes but really wasn't sire and had no idea why. Then he gave me the gospel. Now it's in my heart forever. Jesus died for our sins and was resurrected for our justification. Praise God!
Well, the United Methodist church near me has a pride flag hanging in front. They also had a BLM flag for a while until it was clear that BLM was a scam.
This is insane, I was just talking to my pastor about that film yesterday! When I was walking in atheism that was my favorite film. It emboldened me to attack Christians, and Christianity with mockery. Praise God that his grace is so good, he pulled me from the depths of my depravity!
Interesting. I watched that same movie and didn't feel an inclination to mock Christians. It's light years more intellectually honest than Christian movies like God's not dead.

Pretty much the same testimony but I came up Presbyterian - felt spiritually dead for years and was an agnostic until I cried out to Him and repented, he answered almost immediately and took away my anxieties and transformed my heart. Praise Him! God is amazing 🕊️🙏🏼♥️
Praise Jesus for this Pastor you’re talking about. He did an online deliverance today and I was part of it. I was delivered from the Jezebel Spirit. All the glory goes to our Lord and Savior.

My grandmother has gone to a methodist church her whole life. He describes exactly what I remember growing up when visiting. Its very different now. Its become extremely progressive and resembles a community center more than a church or place of worship.
His early Methodist experience sounds almost Catholic. I went through Catholic infant baptism and confirmation and years later as a young adult submitted my life to Christ.
That was not only a great testimony from him, but the person that helped him see the Lord as our knight in shining armor that rescues us from the power of darkness and translates us into the kingdom of light. Great video.
Unfortunately, not opening Bibles in Methodist churches are too common. I visited my grandparents’ church for Easter and they had one scripture reading in the middle but the Pastor didn’t reference that passage at all. I also had coffee with an older gentleman who helped with church revitalization and he was stationed at a Methodist church. He introduced them to expository preaching and their minds were blown and they’ve been eating it up. I’m not saying it’s all Methodism, but I think there’s a reason the mainline UMC compromised on their stance on homosexuality.
I watch both of you guys on my shortlist of believers i follow. Thank you guys for giving some of the teachings of JESUS to us that are disabled and a disabled veteran in my case. Thank you guys for the teachings that not only me but for everyone that hears yall.

I wonder if it had more to do with wanting him to read it within the context of a Bible study? Maybe the pastor knew that his reading comprehension skills were subpar and didn’t want him misinterpreting the gospel. Haha
You're journey in the Methodist church sounds like my journey in the United Church of Canada. It was a spiritually anemic experience for me. Glad God used it as part of my journey but happy He directed me to an independent Baptist then Wesleyan church.
This was honestly growing up in many churches, I think every single weekend the pastor of a church, youth pastor, etc. should make it a habit to say not just read, like try to read through the Bible as quickly as possible but to read and reflect some or study the Bible daily. I littlerally from birth through highschool went to church every Sunday for 1 hour service, then went to church every Wednesday evening for church activities during the school year and also had Sunday school/youth group on top of the 1 hour Sunday service during the school year. Yet never or barely opened up my Bible or was told to open up my Bible. I knew so much about Christianity from doing all of this and in comparison to others I did. But then I opened up my Bible and realized I don't know squat. It is a challenge but get in there daily even if it is only 15 minutes some days. Then work to increase.
No bible in church? That's crazy! Born and raised a few minutes outside DC (in MD.) Many churches read the bible in services and have bible study, Sunday school, etc. I wasn't UMC, so I can't speak for that denomination. Of course, some churches in the same denomination can be very different.

I had a very similar experience as the guest in regard to when I called out to God in my most distressed moment in life God gave me the words to say for me to be saved. I said I proclaim the blood of Jesus. I never said those words or even thought of those words and on that day the holy spirt fell upon me. I literally felt his spirt come over me in a way I never felt before or since.
I would say sadly most women will not find a man who is respectable very easily and and a man who truly loves his wife or truly loves a woman who will be his wife will be respectable if he really understands what that is but I don't think most do so I think you're right

When he’s talking about Methodist not being big on the Bible. I know it’s largely true. But my church that I’ve attended since I was 16 has had Bible preaching pastors since before I attended and our pastor now is about to finish up his series on the 10 commandments (I’ll link if anyone is interested) and he is always very Bible centered. ( as a Methodist church we did disaffiliated from the UMC over a year ago now.

I was an atheist for a long time and I thought Religulous was weak sauce. Crazy that movie had that kind of effect on people.
