Joe Pass & Roy Clark - 1993 - Cold, Cold Heart. Joe Pass - Guitar Roy Clark - Guitar John Pisano - Rythym Guitar Jim Hugart - Bass Colin Bailey - Drums
Man, I dunno ya'll. I love this documentary. I bought the record when it came out originally, and I was so stoked to see that they did a documentary of it. I don't mind the talking as much as some of you, but then I have this whole record down to memory! I say, go get the record, listen to it until the needle wears through, then watch this documentary. I love being able to see and hear, and listen to alternate takes of some of the tunes. That said...I don't like anyone talking over Joe. Ever.
this was filmed for a tv show, an hour documentary show from i believe, branson, missouri. my father was the engineer, and i was the 2nd engineer. it was two fabulous days of great music!
As Joe says on the video, Roy Clark can play anything. I've known Roy since he was with Jimmy Dean in Washington DC (50 years ago) when Roy was working with him. The great Joe Maphis once told my grandmother that Roy Clark could take nose hairs from a camel and stretch them between two fence posts and make music; true.
It's a shame that when two great artists get together for a performance there's always a few nimrods in the audience that want to run one of them down. Both of these gentlemen are legendary masters. Attempting to belittle the ability and craftsmanship of one over the other is the epitome ignorance and intellectual laziness.
Its like a musicians "what if" sessoin come to life "Hey, imagine Joe Pass and Roy Clark doing jazz arrangments of Hank Williams tunes!" And yet, here it is!
I've always wished that Roy would've worked more on blues, it would've been amazing to really see what he could've accomplished. I seen a small snippet of Roy playing some blues licks and I know that blues is something you really need to feel, it didn't seem like he had any interest in it or feeling for it😢
its more sad to me that today's youth...hardly ever listen to this kind of music....and when they do have to chance to listen to this kind of music..they don't appreciate..and probably never will. From where i come from...society only listens to gayass crap music called..k-pop..or j-pop.. -_-" i hate it .. i wish more ppl would learn to listen to jazz
This is a documentary about the making of an album, not the album. Of course there''s going to be talking! If you want to hear the music, buy the album and stop complaining!!
Iconic song, legendary players, swingin chart = priceless

John Pisano also playing wonderful rhythm guitar here.

John Pisano is one of the unsung heroes. He is in the same league as Pass :)
Wonderful. A lot more than three cords and the truth
RIP Roy Clark.....
Wow, I feel sorry for the people that never get to witness this master class.

Hey gang, buy the CD like I did, and there's no talking over the music. Really great stuff.
Beautiful music indeed.

Believe it or not, they are sharing their mutual feelings. It's the love :)
hell yea..
Playing with fingers is the only way to go, it's much more intimate and complete than with a piece of plastic.
Agreed.

How can you talk over a Joe Pass solo.
@leadimprov Roy Clark... limited? thats a bold statement brodda
Man, talking over this music is not right. Let the music do all the talking
complete agreed... i can't believe i'm missing the final years of legend Joe Pass' solo over this dude's voice..
+Ryan Guitar I think you can get these tracks on iTunes without the talking
Yeah, talking over Joe Pass' solo is sacrilege.
Couldn,T agree more ....... man !
This was from a tv show filmed at the sessions, of course the cd doesn't have the commentary but it was a documentary tv special.

WHY! DID THEY DECIDE TO PUT A GUY TALKING OVER THE MUSIC?!?!?!?!??! D:
Great guitars, but no talking please.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Roy Clark is nowhere near Joe's class.
I can't disagree more.
Roy is fantastic guitarist in many styles. Joe Pass is a virtuoso. If you asked Roy if he was in Joe’s class, Roy would say no without thinking twice.
Shut this guy up
Absolutely horrible video. I love Roy Clark, but why do we have listen to this guy run his mouth over Joe Pass. Someone who hates music edited this.
