      Jiri was still 100% capable of defending himself. It’s a title fight, if Jiri had his hands down and wasn’t responding and not moving then I could understand a stoppage but everyone saw that he was still in the fight. He took way more damage in the Glover fight.

      Whether jiri would have won or lost isn't relevant to me, the stoppage was early, everyone agrees. It's a title fight, give them that extra chance. Jiri reacted instantly and I never saw him go limp like people were saying, I saw him get hit like a truck and stumble, but he was still in the game. I don't think "he might get hurt" is viable to ending it prematurely, it's a fight. These refs will stop a fight after an unconscious guy takes 16 punches to his face in a regular fight, but end it the second someone stumbles in a title fight. I think it's bullshit imo

Jiri is happy and grateful that he was saved and Alex did not KO him into another dimension. Jiri is a true warrior for admitting he thought it was a good stoppage. Left hook definitely not overrated. That was a short hook that took Jiri down. Congratulations to Alex!!👏💯🔥🥳

    Wasn't stopped too early. Jiri got a two piece and like 10 elbows to the temple and all he could do is roll on his back. If this was too early then so was the Izzy TKO. At least Izzy was still standing.
    I'd even go as far as to say this stoppage was cleaner than the Izzy knockout. Pereira didn't miss a single strike to Jiri's dome. At least he was swinging and missing against Izzy.

    • @ProfessionalCurryDefender
      @ProfessionalCurryDefender 7 месяцев назад +3

      Izzy had his hands down and wasn’t moving, he wasn’t capable of defending himself, Jiri was. These Poatan fans are something man, Jiri was still sprawling and moving even after the ref called the fight. He wasn’t wobbling and was 100% in it. The only reason you guys are exaggerating the damage that Jiri took is cause you wanted Alex to win.

    It also keeps the onus on the winner to show they know how to finish it - even if it's not a literal finish in the sense of a KO. Alex was in a really unfamiliar position, one that doesn't exist in kickboxing, that he hasn't had in MMA, yet. He may have come in all wrong and Jiri saw it and pounced, got a wrist and we get the beginning of a really interesting sub, or got an ankle and just rolled with it... Next minute, Alex is down and it's on again.
    Also... limp hands. Guys just wobbled drop like rocks. It isn't the definitive sign of being "out cold", which is how this seems to be getting argued. Secondly, like Charles just drops when he's rocked, to his back... some people know to relax, don't fight being rocked...
    And this notion of moving on. No. Forevermore, Alex will get the comments that he only got the belt due to an early stoppage. That's the legacy this shit creates. Everyone will forever have to argue, well, yes, the stoppage was early, but, but but... It cheats the winner as much as the loser. Yes, the effort to separate the win from the average refereeing... but you don't let this grossly inconsistent shit just keep sliding.
    No, Jiri showed that you were very accurate in Alex's gaps. I think Alex got a... shock. I think he was a little nonplussed. But he's one of the best in the world... he knew patience was key, just survive and keep kicking and be ready. But the need to reset was there...
    The change in Jiri I wondered was him wanting to alter his style to suit Alex better. Get rid of the low head and the really low hands, take more care. Second round, he started reverting to the more eccentric stuff, which I do think befuddled Alex... a little. But, you know... he just waited.

"Oh, Jiri admitted that he was out just because he was being humble and gentleman", fuck that, Jiri could do that saying "Yeah, he got me, but i was okay enough to continue. But okay, congratulations to him", something like that, but no, the guy knew the damage he took from that left hook and elbows. Poatan ended literally on top of Jiri and Marc was the one who took Alex from there. Good luck to Jiri, he is a legend, but that victory from Pereira was legit.

    I don't think it was a bad stoppage. The refs' job is to stop the fight when someone goes out to protect them from further unnecessary damage, Jiri went out and he admits this. In this case Goddard protected Jiri from not only Alex but from himself, Jiri recovers very quickly but he clearly went out, hands went limp, fell back and everything, he would have just taken more hits to the head, anyone that calls it a bad stoppage just want to see fighters get terribly injured, more than they already do.

    That's exactly right based on what Jiri has been coming back from before the ref could have let them get to the floor and then see if it's still a fight or not, but the timing of Pereira's caf kicks and the technique he uses is so hard to defend and they do damage...

    Holy fk the amount of people that keep copy pasting that Jiri said he was out, it was a good stoppage. Stfu and think for two seconds. A fighter doesnt know shit. Being rocked and losing control of your body for a split second and being out are going to feel the same exact way. The lines are so thin and blurred between the two it aint even funny.
    Second the dude is a humble warrior like you said that doesnt make excuses. But the way he looked when he got up immediately and was staring Goddard down tells you all you need to know. In the inside he was pissed. And if that doesnt convince you enough, just watch all his other fights. This is par for the course for this dude, its part of his style and how he often wins. Like a prime Tony Ferguson. Being that and the fact it was a championship fight, you let it play out.
    This ends up being super sus like Goddard was told to call it early if Alex had the upperhand. We see it all too often like with Suga and Aljo, earlier fights on the card with no stipulations go on for minutes with people getting blasted, but not the most important ones where it could be the only chance someone ever has at the belt, it’s insane.
