Hot take, but if Till had scraped the decision win Vs Whittacker, he would probably have not gone on this massive decline and gone on to fight Izzy in a pure striking match. Probably would have lost to leg kicks, but it would have at least been a more interesting competitive direction for Till than the sad state he is in currently
Brotha he beat Cerrone and Wonderboy back to back, just to not land a single strike in a gift from God title fight. Not that he didn't land, but he BARELY threw, and that's against a pressure fighter in Woodley. Now imagine taking a mauling, scraping a decision against Whittaker, just to fight one of the best counter-strikers we've ever seen lol
Honestly as much as Till has declined in recent years, the Darren Till who fought Robert Whittaker looked like a serious fucking contender at Middleweight. Everyone knows Rob was the 2nd best Middleweight for the longest time and Darren gave him problems in that fight.

Good list honestly idk what Whittaker does from here he shouldn’t fight cannonier back to back power punchers could really fuck him up I have a theory Whittaker is slightly cursed because he never had a passing of the torch moment with gsp the way Izzy had with Silva … I think a win over a true legend like that despite age still gives a massive confidence boost kinda like I beat this man it’s my responsibility to be great just like him so as to not waste his legacy
Aside from Cannonier his only option would be Allen (if he beats Craig) because everyone else in the top 10 doesn’t work (and MW is a pretty weak division). Izzy doesn’t make sense even if he were to take the fight, Vettori last fight was a lost to Cannonier and Dolidze lost to Vettori, even if Costa is healed in time he still doesn’t deserve that big fight since his last win was against Rockhold in 2022, Chimaev depends on if he heals up so he could work, and Hermansson is pretty much a gatekeeper at this point (who you can argue is washed)
I think Kamaru at UFC 300 is a great fight for Rob. A big name, a big legacy fight, a guy who like Rob is a big welterweight bulking up to middleweight and is on the back nine of his career and has lost a couple of fights in a row and who probably doesn't have crazy power for 185 or at least not power I'd imagine Rob will fear relative to other people he'd fight. I think Rob would finish him in a 5 round fight but I could see it being a dominant decision in a 3 round fight. Then give him the loser of the title fight and if he wins that I think Rob is back to #1 contender

The take on Volk is spot on. He's always been chinny, I mean Mendes dropped him and Holloway dropped him twice. He has made 13 weight cuts in 7 years, and now he has to make a brutal weight cut after being knocked out cold. The only positive here, is he hadn't taken a lot of significant damage before that Islam KO. Like Lucas said Volk could return to his dominant form with proper time off, but a hard training camp followed by a hard weight cut after being KO'd stiff, THEN fighting the heaviest hitter in FW is a recipe for fucking disaster. I actually have a feeling Volk will suffer an injury too due to this short turnaround time, and either hide it or fight through it.
Jiri had a lot of activity in his earlier career and we do see that many of those people slow down to try and conserve themselves as they get into the big leagues. Champions never fight that much to begin with about half as much as a regular UFC fighter. However Jiri may have slowed down but for example he has more fights then Volk, someone who's so addicted to fighting he's willing to make rash decisions just to have a fight even if not prepared.

I honestly can’t tell if Whitaker has a bad chin or not because your totally right about when you see him get hit your immediately worried but at the same time I am starting to think Whitaker just moves weird. Like even when he hasn’t been touched and he’s piecing someone up he has this weird tilting stance as he throws like he’s folded up on himself or he’s leaning super far forward almost horizontal to the ground like a sprinter taking off from the starting block. It’s so weird it looks like he’s constantly on the brink of falling over. Watch him throw that 1 2 head kick he loves so much he like folds back on himself and throws it from point blank range and lands it with his foot instead of his shin. It reminds me a little of Muhammad Ali he would bounce around and dip and lean and throw punches from weird angles too instead of keeping a traditional guard.

And whether he goes into isolation after a fight or not it does not influence directly his come back time, while some are eating pizza and getting fat, he is doing that, fine.
I agree with most. Alex Pierera is the most decorated combat sports athlete damn near ever. If you refer to him in only mma sure a bit over rated, but you can’t just forget Glory. Great video as always bro. I think you hit the nail on the head for all of them. The part about Volk though, it hurts a bit. He has one of the best work ethics in the UFC, and it could potentially be a detriment to his longevity. I was nervous when he took the second Islam fight. Then I saw him disrobe to get into the cage and I knew it was curtains. And then I saw a fully hydrated, motivated Islam step into the cage… it was almost obvious what was going to happen. Volk was out of shape and Islam looked the best shape of his career! All the credit in the world to Islam for what he did that night. That kick was beautiful! I think this is a great take, I think Rob's chin is fine but when he gets cracked he gets cracked extremely flush the shots Rob gets caught with would put anyone but Marvin away
@franjes9999 he's also getting hurt by his own momentum. So it's like a crash him going forward and get hit without seeing what's coming. They are the worst to get hit with knock most guys out. Robs also light on his feet so he's not planted most times he is getting hit he's launching forward throwing at the same time. Unique style that has got him to the top but comes with the sacrifice of risking his own chin. If he didn't have a chin he would have got knocked out by Romero, Cannonier and the rest but that's not the case. I actually think he beats khamzat but styles make fights some match ups are bad for his style. It's high stakes in mma no bet is safe!
@mainstreammop2711 Absolutely. If I were Rob's coach or manager the fight I'd be encouraging him to take is Kamaru if that is on the table that's the perfect mix of a guy whose racking up some losses, is falling out of his prime and who is a big enough name to keep him relevant within the division. If he ends up fighting a Dolidze or Hermansson, I think that wouldn't move the needle for him even if he won either of those fights impressively. His 3 fight plan should be Kamaru Then the loser of DDP vs Sean Then whoever the champ is. I think based on styles Sean would be the most favourable fight for him, followed by Khamzat and then DDP would be the worst fight he could get (apart from Izzy) I don't think Alex ever returns to 185

Yes, Lucus, you're 100% correct on Charles being the SINGLE person at the UFC who makes grappling --- not wrestling but grappling --- fun and better than striking. Charles is the only guy that fights like there's no tomorrow while standing and grapples like his life depended on it on the mat! Guys like Islam, on the mat, they are like guys in fancy 3-piece suits who don't want a dust fall on their suit: it's position over submission, so unless he is sure he could make a dangerous move safe, Islam will just sit on his ass on top of you for as long as it takes and he has the physical strength and wrestling skills to do that, too! Khamzat also makes grappling fun to watch; but his ferocity lasts roughly just one round and then he's gassed out, if he can't overwhelm his opponent. Charles, he could go at the normal pace, both standing and on the ground, 110% offensively, for 5 rounds. It's either his head, neck, or arm, or yours....
Lol Islam is very especialist at positioning and submitting at the same time he doesn't sit on people it's far from the reality 😂 Islam is very fun fighter and the way to he throws Juda in the middle of grapling is top notch 👌

Great video as always bro. I think you hit the nail on the head for all of them. The part about Volk though, it hurts a bit. But I think Volk made the biggest mistake of his career taking that fight under the circumstances. I think that’s the moment in his career we will point to when we talk about his decline. Waaaay more sensible take than Lucas's. We'll said.
His 3 fight plan should be
Kamaru
Then the loser of DDP vs Sean
Then whoever the champ is. I think based on styles Sean would be the most favourable fight for him, followed by Khamzat and then DDP would be the worst fight he could get (apart from Izzy) I don't think Alex ever returns to 185

Whittaker is a point fighter who hasn’t finished a fight since 2017 that’s 6 years ago almost 7 now.
Idk how he got the nickname “the reaper” that shit is beyond me
Yes, Lucus, you're 100% correct on Charles being the SINGLE person at the UFC who makes grappling --- not wrestling but grappling --- fun and better than striking.
To be fair, no one has ever seen Oliveira in the fourth or fifth round and Islam is finishing people left and right.
@@govegan92includinh Oliveira himself.
Lol Islam is very especialist at positioning and submitting at the same time he doesn't sit on people it's far from the reality 😂 Islam is very fun fighter and the way to he throws Juda in the middle of grapling is top notch 👌
Whittaker doesn't have a horrible chin, getting TKO'd by Dricus doesn't mean you have a horrible chin. In the last 10 years he only suffered the loss to Dricus and the loss to Adesanya via stoppage, neither time was he asleep, but he was just down curled up and the ref stopped it. Keep in mind Adesanya did the same to Costa, so does Costa have a horrible chin?
To be fair whittiker has been dropped in every fight he’s been in except for the Vettori and Gastelum ones since the romero fights
Tbh I disagree with lots that you said but also agree with some all in all good video man keep it up
