Smith made a fatal error in negotiations by agreeing to have the fight in an octagon instead of on a large sheet of paper where he would've R1 KOed Jon. Rumor has it Jon's corner wiped sweat off him between rounds with a paper towel, and that caused the cognitive dissonance that made him throw the illegal knee, so paper still almost won the title for Smith if he took that DQ.

Was gonna say this exact same thing, Aldo started fighting when he was like 14 years old, started fighting pro at 16. By the time he was 30 he had so many miles on his body. His argument doesn't carry much weight because he's basically just saying "Well Aldo was still winning fights against good fighters" and yeah he was, but there's a massive difference between beating the best of the best and beating good to great fighters.

Khabib had the most gradual, pampered beginning in history of the sport. His record is that of a modern boxer. Fighting absolute bums for 15 fights just to pad his record. His 15th fight was against a guy making a debut. But to his credit, he kept improving and stayed above his competition at the pinnacle of the career. But man, he's lucky that the skill curve he faced wasn't as steep as for your average fighter, he would've definitely lost. Even in his early ufc fights, bro's striking was male equivalent of ronda rousey.
Islam is literally tied with khabib of being goat one more title defense and he surpasses him in my opinion. And if he can win a welterweight belt I would put Islam in top 3 goat
Brother GSP came back after FOUR YEARS (which nobody has done and won) WENT UP IN WEIGHT at 36 (the age when everybody else is losing) and beat a Bisping that had already beat Anderson Silva
That’s also a Bisping that’s inarguably the worst champion in UFC and in the weakest division that nearly died to Oldman Henderson. That’s not an Impressive win.
@@darkclaw1462 i think bispings overhated. These arguments against Anderson Silva‘s greatness, never add up. He didn’t fight good competition? We only consider it not good competition because he dominated them and made it look easy. Who is he supposed to fight? These were the other best fighters in the whole fucking world at the time, so what, is he supposed to go to another planet to find better competition? if he’s beating everybody that’s put in front of him and all the top contenders, just because they don’t have a big enough name and aren’t as popular, doesn’t make it less of an accomplishment. You also mentioned James Irving who was actually at 205, along with Forest Griffin, and Stephan Bonner, and he finished Stefan Bonner way quicker and in more devastating fashion than Jon Jones did. If you count those three light heavyweight fights, and the one with Travis Lutter, who missed weight and add them to his title defenses he still holds the record, and he shouldn’t be punished just for being man enough to go up in weight like Jon Jones took six years to do and dodged Francis Ngannou, or anybody that would be a threat to him.
saying the competition was not as good does not mean he is blamed for it like he should have found better opponents. It'ss not about ''being punished'', it just is what it is. And the argument obviously wasn't about poopularity, it was about skill.
No one will ever look as amazing as Silva. Because he stayed around too long its harmed his legacy (which is something I never understood). Prime Silva was the nearest thing we will ever see to a ninja in the cage. People forget he was the best in the ufc for like 10 years and still holds so many records. Also to answer your critique of Silva , you can only beat the level at the time, by your logic every 10-15 years the GOAT list will need to be wiped. Also I just still can't put Khabib in my top 5. Defended the belt 3 times and he won the thing from Al Iaquinta? He COULD have become the goat but he simply hasn't done enough. There guys here with 11,12,13 title defenses.
But Silva was fighting at the same time as GSP and Jones but his resume is way worse. His division was just weaker. You can say that’s not his fault but it’s a fact and that fact makes it hard to definitively call him the GOAT.
Not gonna lie, you had to be there for Anderson Silva to understand just how fucking incredible he was. Going back and rewatching doesn't do it justice.
Anderson Silva had amazing fights. But he also failed for USADA late in his career. And his resume is pretty awful. His best win is against TRT Belfort, but a lot of his other fights were just not against elite fighters. Volkonovski has the best resume and best record of any UFC fighter in history. Because he has 3 wins against Max Holloway, and Max is one of the best fighters on Earth. GSP's resume is questionable, and his fight with Hendricks was pretty awful.

Justin has bad submission game, but my impression is that he is an elite wrestler with devastating striking, but Khabib was able to take him down and manhandle him all the same. Correct me if I'm wrong.
His initial takedown defense is really good but he's not good at scrambles and chain wrestling like an Usman, Darisuh, or Gamrot. Also his non existent submission game really brings down his grappling as whole. He's only fought 2 grapplers in his whole UFC career. Firmino gave him a hard time in the grappling even though it was a young Justin, he still made it extremely competitive.

What is this criticism of khabib? He wasnt dominant towards the beginning of his ufc career, others were more dominant towards their careers. I feel like people who call it a robbery haven’t watched the fight back or just aren’t being objective because they wanted Aldo to get the 135 belt
one more critique of Khabib is that he wasn't as active as we remember he had a long lay off when RDA was champion and then when he came back, he fought some dude making his ufc debut 💀
People are not saying aldo is better than volk, the thing is that he accomplished a bit more as a martial artist so that puts him higher on the goat list.

With all due respect to GSP, he will forever remain a staple In the sport of MMA and truly enough I understand why some call him the GOAT, but his win over Bisping Isn't as Impressive as fans try and make It out to be. Especially given that Bisping still gave GSP a competitive fight before he was finished, and this was a Bisping who was In his early 40s by the time of his career, and you also gotta factor In that GSP vacated shortly after ducking contenders like Whittaker to defend against, which kinda does dampen his legacy. People are having a go at Jon Jones for ducking Tom, but GSP did the same to contenders when he was MW champ too. And yes, The Hendricks fight was a robbery, GSP lost that fight.

I doubted his take on that one but it makes sense
why tf would he have some success at bantamweight when he's been finished in featherweight?
the answer is that he was just beaten by better fighters at featherweight
Lucas also retroactively forgot WEC days where Aldo was the GOAT for nearly 3 eras of MMA. He’s been fighting the best for those years.
With aldo he’s old in fight terms his a true definition of a veteran, been around forever in the wbc, been through so many wars, there’s a reason was still at the top of Bw in his older days he never was washed just delt with other elites, gotta respect him a true legend of the sport

That's the problem with goat lists, especially when people don't account for the quality of the time of those fighters like Lucas does.
But Silva was fighting at the same time as GSP and Jones but his resume is way worse. His division was just weaker. You can say that’s not his fault but it’s a fact and that fact makes it hard to definitively call him the GOAT.

The fact that Anderson wasn’t in the thumbnail, I’ll never sub.
People are not saying aldo is better than volk, the thing is that he accomplished a bit more as a martial artist so that puts him higher on the goat list.
And leg kick Aldo was arguably on the same skill level as Volks striking. That would've been a great fight prime v prime
Personally i think PEDs were a factor but he never failed so whatever but to be fair to Aldo the argument that he was no longer in his prime was not about age it was about damage taken he was literally one of if not the best kickers at the time and he just stopped throwing kicks most likely because he couldn't anymore, Volk started late but look at guys like Rory Macdonald who started very young by the time he was 30 his best days were behind him
As a fighter Jon is one of the best ever, people who love khabib even his father said “he is a gift from God” the best ever. If Jon didn’t have to release his belt a couple times he probably could be 32-0 maybe
Alright fellas, its bout time lucas gets oiled up
I'll hold him down you get the oil

Name of beat at 4:00? I’m about to write a banger
Jones was young, even with his size advantage he lacked experience at the time
I think Jon’s worst quality is the fact that when ever his fight got tough u fought dirty
Mileage > Age. The Aldo argument doesn’t hold water
I’m surprised I didn’t see BSD on this list already
the more i watch this guy the worst his takes get.
Haha 😆
Facts I might unsubscribe, his takes have been absolutely horrrendous
seems like he said something you didn't like to hear about your favorite fighter. he will say something you like from time to time, so just stick around.
Which takes in this video were wrong? This is one of the first times he's been really accurate in a video.
@@eldgepollard5906 you’re right this video is a bad example but watch his other recent videos, his takes are awful
Good ass video just found your channel.
Once again, for some reason Artem Lobov is left out of these GOAT discussions. Just so disrespectful.
Feeling the same way about GM3
@@THEPINAPPLEABLE Absolutely no respect shown by this freakin’ casual. No Darren Elkins either? What a JOKE.
Honestly might be a hot take but gsp isn’t the second greatest ever it’s Mighty Mouse and that’s not a slight on gsp
Aldo is the pound-for-pound GOAT, never mind just featherweight. Only post-McGregor era fans think he isn’t top 3 all time.
You can’t be the GOAT if you lost to every other champion in your weightclass
Evidence?
Slim always got next level trolling skills
@@donchi1234 Thanks for proving my point. Post-McGregor era fan who didn't witness prime Aldo. Losing to elite fighters when you're past your prime is literally irrelevant. If ANYONE stuck around long enough they'd rack up losses. The fact Aldo stayed around the top so long is extremely impressive.
@@everbono8541 Look at Aldo in his prime. Look at his resume. Look at the unmatched longevity.
2:14 29 in combat sport age is ancient tf are you talking about I don’t even like Aldo but your opinions on mma is the most cringey thing I’ve ever seen even more so you just say things even if they make 0 sense
Considering Renan Barao isn't on this list shows that guys on this list will be forgotten. Renan was Khabib before Khabib (and before TJ stopped him)
Literally no clue who that is so you are correct. Was this a ufc fighter? What weight class?
@@blakenilsen9852He started 0-1 and then went on a 30 fight winstreak but a majority of those wins were in Brazilian promotions, he came to the UFC and won a bunch of fights the lost to dillashaw and went on a massive skid.
A khabib with an L is not Khabib
The way Barao vanished after losing to Dillashaw was wild. He was a big deal prior to that.
Tallk about the amount of fights till macgregor, not only the age. Aldo is a legend, lost fair and square to Connor. No excuses. A true son of mma Meca, Rio de Janeiro, aka, "hell" de janeiro.
What would you chose? I'd take Khabib's career over rest.
Jones- Steroid Use. Eye pokes.
GSP- 2Ls
Aldo- Multiple Ls. Quitter.
DJ-Again multiple Ls.
Silva- DOUBLE DIGIT Ls
Khabib’s title wins: 4
Pretty much everyone in the rest of the list: DOUBLE DIGIT TITLE WINS. Who cares about losses? This isn't boxing buddy
Why tf does losses matter 😂😂😂 easy not to lose when you only fight 3 high level guys then leave
As a fan of Volk, DJ and GSP this was painful at times
I couldn't agree more with your GSP take.
I remember Hendricks tapped early in the fight but it went unnoticed until after the fight ........
Bisping was 38 for the GSP fight
I always wondered why people just conveniently forget GSP retiring when it was time for him to defend against the killers in MW. I know it was supposedly health related but to me it seems like he dipped when it was convenient
@@stefanm2731 Well he never had any intentions of sticking in MW it was a belt grab and everyone knew it the same as when there was talk about a Khabib fight win or lose he would've left. Think about it there is nothing to gain from sticking in those divisions he had a legacy already 2 belts is a nice achievement so go for it but sticking around when you are old in a weight class that is far from your natural weight is just silly. People that think GSP's legacy relies on the second belt are just post-McGregor UFC fans.
GSP is the goat here’s why. He didn’t cheat in his fights. He didn’t use PEDs. He didn’t weight bully people. He beat some of the more impressive fighters in his time period. Jon Jones fought mostly weaker competition, he cheated in his fights, he used PeDs at any chance he got as well.
Jones the man who used steroids and eyepokes in 90% of hi fights and his delusional fanbase calls him GOAT 😂
You are delusional
You think Islam isn’t on steroids either 😂😂😂 everyone’s on steroids who cares.
Remind when Aldo started fighting again? Cmon bruh
Going to be honest id just do no music from now on
Background music isn’t bad you being picky now
Aldo was in a motorcycle accident and didn't throw as many leg kicks if I'm recalling correctly
Dawg really snuck Volk in there like we won’t notice 😂😂😂
He's better than Aldo
The Aldo one is kinda right kinda wrong. Look at Anderson Silva. The guy kept competing until 43. He could have retired after the Weidman leg break and had a much better resume
stopped watching after gsp
Dudee the thumbnail is so legendary
Jon beat Reyes. Let it go.
Why should he let a robbery go? 🤡
Ok but I rewatched the fight countless times and…… jones won😬
@@notpaper-cr6niReyes clearly won the first 3 rounds. Jones won 4 and 5. How the hell does that equal a win for Jon lmao
@@notpaper-cr6niI don't know what you're watching
@@TheNotoriousOne229 3,4,5.
I love how fanboys of a certain fighter just decide when their prime ends. All their wins are "prime" version of that fighter and then they finally meet their match and lose and suddenly the wear and tear has caught up to them 😂.
Nobody is putting Volk in the GOAT convo 😂
If you are talking about p4p skill, then yes, he absolutely is up there with anyone.
Without the guys like gsp silva jj and dj the sport does not evolve, these guys past the torch on to the future. Its evolution
