  • In this video I discuss Sean Strickland becoming the UFC Middleweight Champion by beating Israel Adesanya easily at UFC 293. This is not only one of the biggest upsets in UFC history, but one of the best moments I have ever had as a UFC Fan. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments.

He is still one of the best and top 10 for sure
But clearly not number 1 right now
The only way to MAYBE justify number 1 again is by having a rematch and absolutely styling on Sean and finishing him but for now it's really not fitting to call him the best

As an Izzy fan I'm hating the narrative that it was an off-night for Izzy. Strickland put a pressure on him and showed real holes in Izzy's game with nothing but a couple of jabs, a one-two and a push kick. Sick perfomance, solid defense.

How do you know, for sure, it's not Chinese organized crime syndicate telling Izzy,
"Hey, brotha, we already wired $20M into your offshore account. We are 100% sure YOU KNOW what to do. Whatever you do, don't make it easy, so it'd be too obvious. You have a home in China, when you retire, and we think you likely want to retire soon anyway, since it's a very hard sport... the $20M is a small gift, for you to do something SMART, not stupid, a smart 100% FOOL PROOF we know you know.... We KNOW YOU WAS A SMART LAD, when you traveled through our land, in your journeyman years. Be a smart lad and DON'T LOSE US HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS; you know what to do. No obvious shit, though..."
Right after he weighed, Izzy did raise and pump his fist, saying OUT LOUD, "For China," didn't he?
You smart RUclips experts should know: in sports, there are always, 100% for sure, people MUCH SMARTER than you, much more cunning, with connection all the way to the very top....
BTW, I said the same thing, albeit, albeit, a bit more tongue in cheek than this, when we first started hearing JAMES KRAUS and his fighters had BRILLIANT ideas how to make money from betting; Kraus said, out lout, that he mad many orders of magnitude from BETTING than from coaching and fighting. Remember? You can bet some of his trusted and good fighters also made a few nickels, too, from their schemes... If Americans do these things, you don't think Asians (Japanese, Chinese, Thais, Indonesians et al) also do them, with coaches and athletes they have relationship with for years, regardless where or what organization those fighters and coaches are involved in?
And, yes, this has been going on in BOXING since its beginning, too! It's not just Don King of the 1970s - early 2000s. It's been going on since BEFORE Ancient Greece started their "Olympics." It's called SPORT BETTING!

It had nothing to do with Izzy being off. I think Strickland is a much better striker than you realize. He get's hit the least out of any striker in the UFC, even Volk, and Islam. Stricklands style is anything but sloppy. He has the best jab in the game, and he can dominate with basic combos because his counter striking is top notch, his distance management is the best in the UFC, and his guard is excellent, especially his shoulder roll, and his Philly Shell allows him to be in position to counter quickly. Strickland could hang with the best strikers in the UFC, period. I don't even think Adesanya won round 2. At the most, it was probably a 9/9 round, and it could have went to either guy. Adesanya pretty much lost all 5 rounds, and couldn't connect cleanly against Strickland. Adesanya missed so many strikes, the official count was obviously inacurate. The so-called significant strikes counter (however they count them) showed Izzy outlanding Strickland in the first 3 rounds which is retarded because there is no way that happened unless they included slipped punches, checked kicks, and weaker leg kicks that landed with little behind them which didn't really affect Strickland. The significant strikes were pretty much completely in Stricklands favor with the exception of a few counter shots here and there, and it got so bad for Izzy that he almost became hesitant to throw any punches in the last 4 rounds. Sean didn't have a mark on his face after the fight. The most he had was maybe a little bruise on his leg at most, if that. I can count on one hand how many decent right hands Adesanya landed against Strickland, and Strickland rolled with a couple of those punches. It's insane how masterful Strickland fought in that fight, and there was nothing Izzy could do about it. I think in retrospect Izzy would have rather Strickland knocked him out in the first round, then Adesanya could claim that Strickland just got lucky, and connected with a good punch that rocked him. Instead, Izzy got technically outstruck in every way possible. Honestly, the fight was over after round 1 because Sean earned Izzy's respect by rocking him early, and after that Izzy was on the back foot all night long, and was unable to sit on his punches. If Izzy did commit to more than one shot, Strickland would counter with a right hand, or a left hook. That jab was getting home against Izzy all night long as well.

I just wanna say, shoutout to you Lucas. This channel is amazing, and I’m happy to see you get success. And you’re so right about Izzy, I thought you were just hating but he really is an overrated striker. Still a legend, but clearly not the best striker. Watching Sean Strickland gotta be one of the craziest things I ever seen. Moments like these are why MMA is the best sport in the world

It surely helped, but I think we can all agree Alex caught izzy and wasnt exaxtly winning any of those fights, until he was. He catches you. When he doesnt, he loses. Unluckily for strickland, he got caught almost immediatly and got bad rep off that. Doesnt mean he was bad when he fought pereira, he just got caught early.

Pure boxing generally beats kickboxing if you close the distance that’s why Mauy Thai guys struggle with Dutch Kick-boxers because the Dutch have way better boxing. Izzy also struggles with tall opponents, Izzy’s biggest challenges were Jan, Strickland & Alex all tall opponents that can close the distance. Kelvin also closed the distance. I’m an Izzy fan, great win for Sean. Hope Izzy bounces back.

This is the first time I have ever seen Strickland, fight like that. He was fighting very tightly. No opening wide shots. No Wide long arm reaching. He was completely focused on Izzy.
Izzy, was getting leg kicked to his belly he started to lose his power along with the speed.
Strickland, found a way and used the philly shell blocking shuffle from boxing blocking with fainting.
    I am very very surprised.
Reason is because Strickland, was before just fighting wild and going forward. He got Completed Dead KO! By Alex Pereira. It's rare to see a MMA fighter really learn and change the way they fight.
    I'm happy for Strickland.
He came from being just a regular average fighter. Prove himself that he isn't a bum fighter.
Strickland, got the understanding of the way of Mix Martial Artist.
Damn Style bender, had nothing on him. I noticed the UFC fans Boooing Him for Running.

One thing I also noticed that Izzy didnt throw any hooks and if he did they were thrown extremely wide, when he was caught by strickland i believe it was either a very wide hook or it couldve been a upercut that he was trying to throw and he got caught. His boxing is very underwhelming. Unless he has space to attack your legs at range so you dont go into the pocket, Sean was able to prove with elite boxing you can beat this mag but you replace the m with an f.

@@Boyd0006 He usually throws very wide hooks and leaves huge openings there. Sean was the only one able to adjust to it. Great job from him. Also goes to show how flawed and one dimensional Adesanya is. He's only able to fight at the back foot. Shows no ability to move foward against his opponents even if he needs to. The middleweight division as a whole just sucks. Sean literally just boxed him and used oblique kicks and side kicks to get him against the cage.
