I've been waiting for your to do a JJ2 review, it was one of my favorite games growing up and to this day has one of the coolest soundtracks, characters, and weapons.
I really like this game. Nice review! I wonder if you own a copy of Claw, a really good platform game by Monolith from 1997. It would be nice if you review it. Keep up with these amazing videos!
there was a studio making Jazz Jackrabbit 3 in 3D but it got cancelled and they didn't finished it. A playable demo of the game was leaked and it can be downloaded from the internet in many places. I think Epic doesn't care about Jazz Jackrabbit and they don't take down the links. I played that demo, it's fun but still isn't as polished like a finished game and also it's short.

The Jazz Jackrabbit games are excellent pieces of software for sure! Wish we'd see a proper remake or all together new instalment. After the debacle of the GBA game... I can't really blame Epic for forgetting about this little green guy though. Still, it's about time they revive the franchise!

It is ultra rare because Project2 were bankrupt before the release and there were limited copies sold to some counties. Since the CC'99 edition is incompatible with regular editions, you still need a regular copy to play online multiplayers and/or use the plus patch.
The minute I saw that green rabbit my mind was all ' I know this ' and I was like, wait, really? I think I played this when I was like three years old or something, and I had completely forgotten about it until now. Now I remember that I loved this game, and I'm feeling all kinds of nostalgic right now. This is awesome! Thanks LazyGameReviewer for reviewing this game, or I would probably never have remembered it!
I far preferred playing Jazz2 on the lower resolutions. That way it actually maintains a character-to-environment scale more comparable to the kind of console and arcade platformers Epic was trying to imitate. While you do lose a bit of situational awareness, I simply find it much more pleasing (and less stressful) to the eye. On higher settings, it all just looks really out of whack to me. All that lovely extra detail and animation is kind of wasted when everything is so needlessly small, preventing you from even appreciating it properly. It also hurts the environment design as the repetitive tiling of the background graphics becomes far more obvious.
This, along with a ton of other games, came packed in with my family's first "new" computer, from Patriot of all companies, who were HQ'd near where i lived at the time... cool stuff. Pentium 2, sound blaster - oh my, i was spoiled surely. This video brings back so, so many fond memories of playing this game on that computer (and many more after that). Thank you so much for this video
I agree. He sounded cute in a badass way in Jazz 1 and that's the voice he should always have. I hate his voice in Jazz 2 because it is shrill and annoying. "HEY! HEY COME ON! WHASSUP!" Jesus Christ Jazz SHUT UP and fix your damn vocal cords already!
I got JazzJackRabbit 2 Christmas Chronicles in 1998 as a present from a friend, never thought it would turn out to be a classic game I would love sooo much. Gold!
Or maybe some fans should. I'm not sure how popular Jazz was, but I would've expected at least one popular (indie) game heavily inspired by it. I don't think there's a game like that yet, although there are plenty of Metroidvania games.
They made Lawbreakers and Radical Heights instead. XD No, let's not use an IP people want to play... let's rip off whats popular and go bankrupt doing it!
Probably my favourite PC platformer at the time. Like you, I loved the Jazz 1 but was floored when Jazz 2 came out. Holds a special place in my heart, especially for some of the tunes.
+MadameSprixie Yep. Games like this can easily be found through pirated means because the developer doesn't care about it anymore like one person said on here and because it's old and doesn't make them money anymore like the new games they make now. Same thing goes for most other 'dead' media out there including movies.
Why's that? Source code isn't needed for a release on things like GOG or Steam, games are released on there all the time that lack original source code. Now, to port it to another system like the Xbox One or PS4, sure, but not a simple re-release.
Lazy Game Reviews Yeah, but they'd probably re-release it with all the original bugs and stuff. With source code they could release a full on HD version of it, with modern resolutions and aspect ratios or something.
I stumbled upon an old hard drive and accessed the 'games' folder...oooh the memories ☺ I have games from '92 and '95 there, which don't work anymore (Alone in the Dark), but I was amazingly surprised to see that 98's game Sanitarium is still a go and looks creepy as it did on day one 😅 but sadly my Jazz Jackrabbit folder is missing some files, so I wasn't able to even try and load it but I remember it sooo dearly, I enjoyed it so, so much! Thanks for the video and for bringing back some fun memories :x🐰:x
That resolution looks horrible. Everything is far too small and too zoomed out. Thankfully changing the resolution fixes it somewhat but it's not perfect. Especially as the example given of a lower resolution does indeed have the exact same problems as Jazz 1.
It's funny that i've found this game out by hearing the theme from the medieval stage. I thought to myself.. "This sound so much like unreal" , it's awesome ! Then i decided to search for your review and you stated that Alexander Brandon made the OST. His style is truly unique !
LGR, I'm kinda wondering what you think about pirating this sort of game? Personally, I think it's fine since Epic is such a big company right now and buying it used wouldn't profit them in anyway, but I kind of wonder what your stance on it is.
Well, as you might guess by my game collection, I am all about buying the original games, even if it doesn't support the creators directly. But while I don't condone piracy as a whole, I don't see it hurting anyone to download a piece of software that is longer even available for sale _anywhere_ legitimately.
Eric Revollo it is illegal, but no one cares anymore. That's what makes it abandonware. :P Like US is having many unusual and outdated laws, still up but never followed and never being punished. Like one game designer was asked about his game put in net as abandonware. He said, that it is good his game is still remembered ;) Keeps old good stuff alive,,,

Donwload JAZZ2+ Community patch for Jazz Jackrabbit 2/ The Secret Files, you can play multiplayer!!
Thank you so much for this video
what the hell is up with Jazz's voice? He sounds like he's been smoking 10 packs a day.
He's not human.
HeY! HeY CoMe On WhAt'S uP?
What is doom 2 final boss doing here?
Sound like Gilbert godfrey
I got JazzJackRabbit 2 Christmas Chronicles in 1998 as a present from a friend, never thought it would turn out to be a classic game I would love sooo much. Gold!
Cliff and Arjan should make a spiritual successor to Jazz
Or maybe some fans should. I'm not sure how popular Jazz was, but I would've expected at least one popular (indie) game heavily inspired by it. I don't think there's a game like that yet, although there are plenty of Metroidvania games.
They made Lawbreakers and Radical Heights instead. XD
No, let's not use an IP people want to play... let's rip off whats popular and go bankrupt doing it!
Probably my favourite PC platformer at the time. Like you, I loved the Jazz 1 but was floored when Jazz 2 came out. Holds a special place in my heart, especially for some of the tunes.
why oh why is this game missing from gog :(
ahmed kabbary So is it okay to just find a download of this game online? Since they have pretty much abandoned the series...
its on gog now
Andrew Dupuis Really? I have to get it :)
+MadameSprixie
Yep. Games like this can easily be found through pirated means because the developer doesn't care about it anymore like one person said on here and because it's old and doesn't make them money anymore like the new games they make now. Same thing goes for most other 'dead' media out there including movies.
I absolutely loved the shareware version when I was younger! :D
I never knew the intro was by Dean, must be why it and Dust are so cool.
IIRC Epic said they actually lost the source code for JJ2, so a re-release is probably... kinda... impossible :/
Why's that? Source code isn't needed for a release on things like GOG or Steam, games are released on there all the time that lack original source code. Now, to port it to another system like the Xbox One or PS4, sure, but not a simple re-release.
Lazy Game Reviews
Yeah, but they'd probably re-release it with all the original bugs and stuff. With source code they could release a full on HD version of it, with modern resolutions and aspect ratios or something.
Source?
onetruepurple
My bad, it's only speculation that it is lost:

ThatRatGuy You just destroyed my dream of seeing it on GOG... I check the site everyday hoping to see this game added...
Love the review, Clint! Glad Niels Walta and I could help you to a copy of TSF and Christmas Chronicles :)
I run this awesome game on Windows 8.1 :D. WORKS!
This games art style, visual effects and music are so amazing! Definetly wanna try to play this someday
old memories... :D
Please do Microsoft bob, all versions, LGR
Hehe. Stick around.
Lazy Game Reviews Thank You Man! XD
P.S. i love my blueberry ibook clamshell!
Thomas Centers P.P.S i love my macbook air too!
The amount of frikin nostalgia omg, ima have to go back and play 1 and 2 again
Never thought I would find this game again 😭🫠🥰
I LOVED THIS GAME :3
Oh boy, I've been waiting a long time for this!
Free on gog right now
If this was released for Playstation, it would be much more widely remembered as a legend.
Ah! So many good memories! Thank you for another great review!
Downloading what is essentially abondonware isn't piracy.
Epic quietly gave a warez website the green light to host it (until the website died), so you're probably safe to pirate it.
***** Abandonware is technically illegal I think some 75 years must pass before going to public domain. But most companies don't care.
Eric Revollo it is illegal, but no one cares anymore. That's what makes it abandonware. :P Like US is having many unusual and outdated laws, still up but never followed and never being punished. Like one game designer was asked about his game put in net as abandonware. He said, that it is good his game is still remembered ;) Keeps old good stuff alive,,,
I loved loved loved this game!!!! Just gave me the nostalgia awesomeness feel just watching your review!
What a fantastic review. I only played the shareware version back in the days (and remember another one, catacom abyss i think was the name). Alas, here in Argentina was very difficult to buy games. I still have some boxes in my collection, i will love to create a old pc games box collection...
11:13 Until now! www.gog.com/game/jazz_jackrabbit_2_collection
I’m working on a run n gun, and videos like this have been inspirational. Thanks!
Epic wont revisit Jazz Jackrabbit, not after the success of Fortnite.
