I don’t always listen to ZZ Top, but when I do, so does the rest of my neighborhood.
😂😂😂
🏆
Well, where do you live because these guys are awesome. And I agree with you, I don’t listen to them often, but when I do, it fits the mood. Kind of like listening to BOSTON! ZZ TOP IS JUST COOL
That was BRILLIANT 🤘🏻😎🍻
Best comment ever!
The drummer Frank Beard is the only of the three that doesn't have a beard, that's always been hilarious to me.
and oddly enough the biggest partier in the band too!!!! Seemed like he was the chill dude.
huh.
He used to be the only one with a beard
I think he has a short beard now !!!
Even Sesame Street did a shtick on that.
On purpose, must be
ZZ Top is the only band to have never had a line up change.
They've been together since 1968.
They're from Texas.
U2 has never had a lineup change.
Rush just entered the chat...
@@Maidenrules29 actually Rush had a different drummer in the beginning. Glad that changed
@@Maidenrules29 Rush has had a lineup change.
Not quite true, this lineup is from 1969, Billy is the only original member
Fun factoid, Jimi Hendrix was asked who his favorite guitarist to listen to was, answer was Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.
That's true. Billy and his band also opened for Jimi and played a couple of Jimi's songs. Thats ballsy
@@misterj7407 , I did not know that!
@@misterj7407 Yep Billy opened for Jimi while he was in his first band before ZZ top called the moving sidewalks
ZZ Top do you know back in the day when I come after it was bad then they didn't wait till I got Nationwide before they was bad that was bad right out of the right off the start line brother hey remember Beer Drinkers and Hellraisers
Yeah- if you check out Billy Gibbons' episode on Live at Darryl's House, he talks of his friendship with Jimi. So much amazing Rock history that kind of falls through the cracks.
Billy Gibbons has one of the greatest guitar tones of all time and he is one of the greatest guitarists of all time.
As confirmed by Jimi Hendrix.
@@petergabriel1606 That was Terry Kath of Chicago. Or Rory Gallagher, depending on which interview you want to go by.
@@Kylora2112Gibbons' profile was given a boost when Jimi named him as “America's best young guitar player” during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
Billy definitely doesn't get the love he deserves when people discuss world-class players.
without a doubt. his influence on edward van halen really showed rip
Early ZZTop is so funky!!! You must do “Just got paid” and “I’m bad, I’m nationwide”
Just Got Paid is soooo good
Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers!
@@erikrupp692 I’m with that one too!!!
"Fool for your Stockings"
Need to do "Tush"!
My late brother learned how to play drums to this album, so it always has a special place in my heart because of that. RIP Chris. I'm still rocking. I miss you brother.
He knew good music so we know Chris was happy with the music in his veins.
@@gsxr2fst498 Thank you, kind person.
When ZZ Top was discovered and signed, they still were signed to play a prom, they upheld their part and played
I never heard that. That's such a cool story. That sounds like them.
Probably the second best song on Eliminator but should have went with Sharp Dressed Man off this album. Tush and My Head's in Mississippi are another amazing song.
So in first grade we made mixed tapes to play for our classmates. All the songs you just named were on mine. I remember everyone's else were like New Kids on the Block.
Legs is best IMO haha
Tush is amazing
the whole album is incredible imo.
Nope, TV dinners is the best.
Cheap Sunglasses and I'm Bad I'm Nationwide are right up your alley.
cheap sunglasses one of my favs, funky ass ending.
Agreed!
Yeeeeeeah to both of those
Thug thug come on brother he bangs Too Faced the whole song from start to end come on now all right all right all right
I'm betting nobody's ever heard Beer Drinkers and Hellraisers
I blew out several 6x9 speakers in my 69 Chevelle listening to these 3 guys from Texas. And that was back in the 8track days. Lord knows what I could have done with a CD player back then! Definitely thumbs up.👍
You need to watch the documentary ZZ Top: That Little Ol' Band From Texas. It's a Netflix documentary and it's excellent.
I was JUST in the mood to watch some dope rock band documentary on Netflix. This might've just made my day!
@@travistotle you won't be disappointed
thanx for that recommendation!
Ha, yeah, you beat me to it. The documentary is really good.
My man said excellent but he meant EXCELLENT.
Waiting on a bus and jesus just left chicago are a must guys. There are so many greats tho for sure
Please please please do this.
Absolutely
Hell yeah
I have always been amazed that three guys could put out that much sound.
Me: laughs in RUSH :)
@@anthonygianettino2557 geddy Lee plays 3 instruments at once
“Waiting on the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago” is something you guys have to do. That’s when they’re at their funkiest. “Just Got Paid” is another must too.
That’s when ZZ was at their best.
The epitome of Texas rock. Love it. Hope you guys do "Legs", "Sharp Dressed Man" or "Got Me Under Pressure"
Got Me Under Pressure is awesome!
Bro ‘70’s ZZ Top had much more to offer than la grange lol so many good songs.
Yes
Very very true.
Jesus Just Left Chicago

TRUTH
I love Sharp Dressed Man. ZZ Top were the coolest guys around in the 80's.
Every real Texan love this little ole band from Texas!
ZZTop are masters of the bluesey rock that they do.. WITHOUT being the fastest or most complex. Its the soul behind the vast majority of what they do. Like listening to Santana. He is an amazing guitarist.. but not because he is so fast.. but because he feels it. ZZTop feel the groove and theme for the most part. They always have music from almost every album that is just a great tune. That magical ingredient.. they have it.
That tambourine that comes in the second verse really goes a long way to making the groove drive even harder. Just a simple little bit of percussion goes a long way.
Agree!
Hell yeah!!
Sharp Dressed Man, Mexican Blackbird, and Blue Jeans Blues🤙
you forgot cheap sun glasses
Just Got Paid
Are you related to Frank Beard?
Even though I love all those songs I also really LOVE the ballad Rough Boy !
Sharp Dressed Man for sure
ZZ Top, along with Van Halen, are my favorite 80's Bands!!! Cheap Sunglasses and I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide are great ones for reaction!!
This was their most commercial period and they had a series of big hits that brought them to a wider audience, 3 excellent musicians and along with Rush and Motorhead one of the essential three piece bands to at least sample in life.
Don't forget Triumph. Rik Emmett is legend...
This is definitely one of their more radio friendly albums. The 70s albums are more bluesy and raw. You guys tend to like the raw 70s metal and southern rock more, so I'm sure you'd get into "Waiting on the Bus and Jesus Just Left Chicago", those 2 are really 1 song, so you gotta play them together. "Cheap Sunglasses" is also a fun song.
Jesus Just Left Chicago FTW
agreed
So many of those "Can't have one without the other" songs. Foreplay-Longtime, Traveling Man-Beautiful Loser
Yes!
Such an underrated FUN band! Legends!!! Everyone's heard of ZZ Top and knows about the beard gimmick but most kids these days couldn't even name a song let alone who they are.
I like to call this Whisky Rock! The whole album is this good!!!
There is no band that exudes "Cool" like ZZ Top.
And for the record, they aren't Southern. They are Texan. And thats the biggest influence in their sound.
Thank you guys, from another Proud Texan.
But.....Texas is as far South as you can get lol
I think Texas is considered south as well
@KING YETI Well it really depends who you ask. There are so many different answers to where the states belong. I’ve heard a million different answers for whether Oklahoma should be considered Midwest. Every google map you look up will split things up differently
Amen!
Gotta listen to ZZ Top’s Waitn for the Bus/Jesus Left Chicago. That will give you a real sense of who the band is and show you the southern blues influences.
ZzTop best little rock trio from Texas.
Cheap Sunglasses is 1000% their best tune. The groove is so clutch.
100% I know George would be absolutely blown away by the outro solo.
For real!
I beg to differ. This and Tush are their best songs. Got Me Under Pressure and Sharp Dressed Man are better than Cheap Sunglasses.
@@brianezell5790 no way man. Their 70s stuff absolutely blows away their 80s stuff.
@@yusuftary1553 their 70s music was good. Cheap Sunglasses is FAR from one of their top 5 songs. “Tush,” “Gimme All Your Lovin’” and “Sharp Dressed Man” are some of their best songs.
This is one of those songs that rocketed in popularity because of the video. MTV was young and the video caught on and gave ZZ Top a whole new life.
Rough Boy, there's something about that song that just immediately takes me three decades back to playing ZX Spectrum games in my parents house :)
Probably my favorite ZZ Top song!
Z Z Top exudes that kicked back, laid back confidence of the Southerner.
ZZ Tops videos through the 80s were everything that a boy in his early teens could hope for. Their choices in girls and cars were definitely on point for the era.
I saw them live in 08 and every song sounded just like the recording. It was flawless and it was fun and for 3 dudes doing a no frills show, it was one of the best performances I've ever seen.
Jimi Hendrix loved Billy Gibbons who was a guitarist to be reckoned with long before he grew that epic beard. In early 1968, his psychedelic garage band, the Moving Sidewalks, opened four Texas shows for the Jimi Hendrix Experience. According to local acidrock lore, Hendrix was so impressed by Gibbons' facility and firepower that he gave the young guitarist a pink Stratocaster as a gift.
Watched ZZ Top Live bout 5 years ago down in Louisville, KY for Louder Than Life Festival, from about 15 feet away. They still kick ass and put on a freaking amazing show!
Y’all clearly need to review “Tube Snake Boogie”
And Pearl Necklace
@@CMClaudio1989 lol
ZZ were one of the great masters of the "innuendo song".

Party on the Patio seems to be a highly under-rated song from ZZ Top that I love.
It has a swag...I think that's the word you may have been looking for. It's like the guy in sunglasses leaning back against the wall with one foot propped up against it, thumbs hooked in his pockets...all cool & slick. And Billy Gibbons is a badass guitarist!
You lads are just the kings of this format. You get so into the music that it is straight up infectious! Greetings from Finland.
I’m Nationwide is in my top 3 Top songs. Billy Gibbons was Jimi Hendrix’s favorite guitarist
I don't understand how these guys can have reached adulthood without ever encountering so many classic songs.
"Underrated musicianship" is the perfect way to describe ZZ Top. Years ago, I came across their live show at Hard Rock, Las Vegas one night and was blown away. They had some room to open up a bit and these dudes can play!
ZZ Top is smooth as hell in basically everything they do.
Complicated can screw up a groove! You guys really need to do almost all of their 80s hits! They were a huge staple of my growing up years and they have so many more that are bangers just like this! You owe it to yourselves!
Cheep sunglasses , with the bass line and funkyness.....
You guys ar THE BEST! Funny, articulate, knowing and very real. It’s the small nuances guys. Love it! Oh, and there are so many great tracks on Eliminator for you to react to.
Just Got Paid has one of the funkiest riffs in history. It's a beautiful thing
I'm a huge metalhead, but I absolutely LOVE ZZ Top. They're one of my favorite bands, and you guys hit on a good reason why. Billy Gibbons' guitar tone is so smooth. This is a good song, and a damned good album from start to finish. My favorite from it and them in general is "Got Me Under Pressure". ZZ Top make the absolute most of being a three-piece, with a full, rich sound.
Jimi Hendrix was said to say Billy Gibbons was his favorite guitarist.

It’s worth it to watch their videos too. They have such an out there look and great sense of humor. Amazing entertainers all around.
Saw ZZ top 5 yrs ago and they were awesome. Love their earlier 70's southern blues/rock. Tush is my favorite song by them.
Need to make sure you play more ZZ Top they've got a lot of different music the lot of different sounds. Southern Blues rock and roll.
Gibbons is a G-string God!
I realized how this sounds only after I wrote it. Ain't gonna delete it now.
I can't unsee that even though I never even saw it
Love ZZ Top. So good. These three dudes are the coolest dudes. From the way they look, the way they act and they are all down to earth humble guys that made some rockin great party tunes.
ZZ Top has one of the best guitar tones ever!
This is the song where you drive up to a group of people downtown, and just stand up outside your car, leaning, and saying "Hell Yeah Man"
🤘😎
Love ZZ Top!! Do “Gotsta Get Paid” (Official Video) 🔥
For sure. Even more recent still badasses
Seconded. That is one shit-hot tune.
Men ... you´re hearing one of the biggest rock band ever and you must be proud to heard real 80´s rock. Greetings from Mexico !!!.
Just a bit of trivia for you; and this song as good as it is; there is footage of the late great Jimmy Hendrix stating that Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top was the best guitarist Jim knew at the time which is an awesome opinion to have as a reference for future research of the band. Thanks for the great reactions!
Rough boy, Sharp dressed man, Tush
This. ^^^^
LOOOVE ZZ TOP!!!!! Yup, they played their asses off, and I danced my ass off listening to them. Still, to this day; no matter where I am, when they are playing, I am dancing. This is get rowdy music. 😎
They sound in the 20's like they did in the 70's only better.
I am amazed all the time that the music I grew up with is still being played on FM radio.
LONG LIVE ROCK
Jimi Hendrix once said Billy Gibbs was his favorite guitar player.
Probably because Billy Gibbs covered two Hendrix songs... while opening for Hendrix. lol!
The balls on that guy must be huge!
Billy Gibbons!
@@stagecoachrobbery Billy Gibbons was the one that actually taught Hendrix to play slide guitar
Eddie Van Halen was known to listen to Billy Gibbons before going on stage. Was his normal routine for quite a while.
Yeah. Big ZZ influence in VH.
You guys are still the best reaction channel on youtube!! Please do more Zz Top!
Love you guys. So many other ZZ songs to look at...
"Heard It on the X", "Nasty Dogs and Funky Kings", "Cheap Sunglasses". Hit these!
Have y'all done a Thin Lizzy track yet?
Heard it on the X. Love that tune and the story behind the X radio stations.
Speaking of Thin Lizzy, what about Gary Moore's Still Got the Blues the live version.
Fun fact: Before they started ZZ Top, they were a band who was hired to pretend to be The Zombies after they broke up, so people would think they were still together.
ZZTOP is the definition of TONE, TASTE, AND TENACITY.
You hit the nail on the head lads, the 80’s was just such a fun time. A ‘good ass time’ haha. A brilliant time to be alive.
Another great song of their's would be, She's Got Legs.
Try "Got Me Under Pressure" and "Fool For Your Stockings". Great stuff.
I have this whole album on my playlist! I feel like I just got transported back to the 80’s! They still tour and are still AMAZING live!!!
A band who has really changed their sound over the ages is Whitesnake. Listening to their music in chronological order really shows just how versatile they are.
That guitar is a 1959 Gibson. If you can even find one now I bet you can't get it from the current owner for less than $1M.
If you love guitar solos, 2 of the best ones ever played are both in "I Need You Tonight" by ZZ Top.
Abacab by Genesis, epic. Or, mama also by Genesis. Both are major hits
God i love ZZ Top always listen to this stuff if i go on a roadtrip best music for that.
ZZ Tops music and videos in the 80s became some memorable FUN times.
Go to their early days for "Jesus Just Left Chicago" 1973 Album version
just got paid- zz top
ZZ Top is awesome... I can listen to them anytime
"A FOOL FOR YOUR STOCKINGS" is the best ZZ Top song ever. EVER.
I may not want to admit it....
I guess I'll just keep recommending Opeth - Serenity Painted Death (or Harlequin Forest) until y'all decide to do it lol.
Here are some others:
• Death - Trapped in a Corner, Symbolic
• Cynic - Veil of Maya
• Gorguts - An Ocean of Wisdom, Absconders
• Vektor - Recharging the Void
• Between the Buried and Me - White Walls, Obfuscation, All Bodies, Alaska
• Leprous - Contaminate Me (ft. Ihsahn)
• Ihsahn - Unhealer (ft. Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth)
• Enslaved - Singular, Night Sight, Havenless
• Nevermore - Narcosynthesis, The River Dragon Has Come, The Fault of the Flesh
• Fates Warning - Point of View
• Control Denied - What if...?; Cut Down (side project of Death's frontman, Chuck Schuldiner. This may be more to your liking. Basically Death but with power metal vocals.)
• The Dillinger Escape Plan - Milk Lizard, Limerent Death
Dudes. In the 80s ZZ Top were the coolest mofos going
Saw them in concert and they put out so much sound that you would never guess it was only 3 guys on stage! Their earlier stuff is pure texas blues gold. Love this band.
I saw them in 2004 in Pomona County Fair, AWESOME SHOW!!!! 🤘😎🤘
Oh man this is my favorite song from ZZ TOP. The video is good as well. Love the 80s, movies, music, and commercials. I used to love the 90s and still do but the 80s hit different. The bass in this song is fire. I rock this in my car all the time with the bass high

Now that you guys are back to posting regularly, I'll probably get back on your Patreon. You guys should really give the Ramones another chance, though. Y'all picked a bad song, honestly.
The thing i always loved about ZZ Top is how absolutely rocking they sound with fairly simple instrumentation. The riffs and playing isn't always uber complicated and masterful but no one can deny their skill at jamming!
This song reminds me of high school in the 80's. Cruising in my GTO on a summer evening listening to some 80's tunes. Great times!
