I think women in rock marathon is a great idea !
Hell yeah. I wanna see Vixen, Pat Benatar, Roxette, Battle Beast, Halestorm, Lee Aaron, Lita Ford. Maybe the Bangles (their cover of Hazy Shade of Winter is fire).
And so much more Heart. Straight On would be a good choice. Alone is classic, do the music video.
@@BarbarosaNo and Blondie
And Jefferson Airplane...
@@BarbarosaNo Thanks for recommending Straight On, its an awesome song and often overlooked.
@@BarbarosaNo Janis Joplin! and Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins would be amazing
Ann Wilson is one of the greatest female vocalists in the history of music.
A little off topic. Funny enough, I think Robert Plant could compete with even female singers lmao. He just reaches pitches and tones plus holds keys that I can only hear a woman nailing I mean Ann Wilson did just that imo with Heart's cover of Stariway.
Totally agree - she and Aretha Franklin.
Listen to Ann Wilson sing Stairway to Heaven
@@vanvekeron absolutely. 👍👍👍

Aerosmith said that Heart was one of the few bands that rocked as hard as they did in the 70’s. Personally, I think they rocked harder.
Same.
Aerosmith and Heart are good but nowhere near being the hardest rock bands of the 70s.
Chris Cornell said they were "The American Led Zeppelin"
They came to Cincinnati once, and their plane had a problem and needed some hydraulic fluid. I happened to be at an aviation supply company and I had bought the last 5 gallons of Skydrol hydraulic fluid in stock. A guy came in right as I was leaving and said that he needed some for Heart's plane, and they told him that I had just bought the last of it. I told him that I would sell it to him for cost, if he would give me two backstage passes for the show that night. He gladly agreed, and I got to go backstage before the show. Ann and Nancy Wilson were extremely gracious (and so was the rest of the band), and my friend and I got to see a great concert from the side of the stage, and got to have a drink with the band. It was a good time.
great story!
That is awesome. What an amazing memory to have!!
Wow!!!😳
@@EricRoberts2112 is this THE Eric Roberts!!!!!!!!! 😃
Amazing story, so cool Thanks for sharing that. One of those real "never forget" moments
“Magic man” by heart will blow your minds
Yassssss!
I was just gonna write that. Magic Man is killer!
same, i was just going to suggest magic man. love everything about the guitar in magic man.
YES DUDE
"She is singing her ASS OFF" - Yes, sir.
Keep going with Heart and do Alone (obviously) but also their live cover of Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honours Led Zeppelin with Jason Bonham on drums.
Their cover of The Battle of Evermore as The Lovemongers on the Singles soundtrack is amazing.
Their cover of Stairway you NEED to watch.
YESSSS!,!!!!!
That is an EPIC performance with Led Zep watching and bringing tears to Robert Plant!
Yes!!
Heart's influence on female rockers cannot be overstated. They are the template.
As well as Pat Benatar.
on rockers period not just female.
Yes!!!
I was yelling into my phone, “It’s BONANZA!!”. Lol. Good vid as always.
Hahahahaha me too!
All except for the interrupting the video for a ridiculous TV trivia ADHD.
Same!!!!!
Me too. Lol
Bonanza is older than you both! Lol!! Yep, I was yelling into my phone too! 🤣 Her voice is IT!!! Pat B. Cant touch this!!! Sorry guys but this is the voice that tops all!!!!! 👍
Magic man or straight on. I’ve never heard a Disney princess with guns like Ann Wilson
Right? That comment was very disappointing.
I'm fairly sure they mentioned Aladdin...I'm not even sure they realize what they were saying but the singer on Aladdin is Lea Salonga who is perhaps one of the most accomplished singers in the world. She was the first Asian woman to win a Tony. She's not only sung as Jasmine (where the song got a golden globe and an Oscar) and Mulan, she's sung the leading roles in international productions such as Miss Saigon, Les Mis, and numerous others. Ann Wilson has a great voice but I highly doubt she'd be offended by being compared to one of the most accomplished singers in the last 40 years. Ann has a lot of voice control and talent and that's coming through with piercing clarity.
They didn't mean it as an insult and it clearly wasn't.
@@doofinator4285 that's perhaps what you heard. What I heard was, oh, she's a chick singer, she'd be better suited for some damsel in distress something or another.
@@loveonthespectrum3797 Yes!
Who influenced whom?
Mic drop? Lol.
I chuckled a bit at the Aladdin/Disney comment but remember, this is just two dudes sharing their reactions to music. They've never heard that Ann Wilson has been called "The most powerful voice in rock". As entertaining as Lost in Vegas is to watch, they're not professionals.
That's the problem with ALL social media - every dimwhistle that has no understanding of 'context' gets a voice, and half of the rest of the dimwhistles get offended or bi*ch said comment *im not referring to LIV as DC dimwhistles, but instead what the comments look like
During a tribute concert, Heart did a live version of "Stairway to Heaven" that had Robert Plant (Zeppelin's lead singer) completely overcome with emotion. His old face just melted. Epic.
That was so good! I've watched that so many times. Truly epic!
100%
Heart did a real nice version of immigrant song too.
Really?! I'll check that out! Thanks!
Only bands that should be allowed to cover Zeppelin are: Heart, STP (RIP Scott) and Black Crowes.
Shit, Crowes recorded an entire live album of Zeppelin songs, WITH PAGE ON GUITAR.
Yeah, keep off your "women" lists, they're one of the greatest bands in rock, period.
The final guitar solo... I never realized how badass it is. That’s why these reaction shows are so fun for us, because it’s like you’re hearing the song for the first time again. I don’t know who their lead guitarist was back then but he was beyond incredible
Roger Fisher
Don't sleep on Nancy, she's incredible. Watch her live version of Crazy On You.
Luke Skywalker 😂❤
This is one of the best rock songs of all time. Hits on every level.
I’m a huge deathgrind metalhead but I fuckin LOVE this song! It’s a go to
when i'm really depressed and have to drag myself to work, i play this right before I walk in so that something good is in my brain before I clock in.
Barracuda is an insanely heavy song for when it was released. It’s early proto metal.
Agreed. and it was recorded very well on state of the art analog equipment. Slight slap back echo on the vocal. Incredible drum sound and playing! The main guitar riff.....just insanely good. It's slightly reminiscent of Led Zep's "Achilles Last Stand" but that's not surprising since they are all huge Zep fans. Really well done. I never tire of it.
I think you’re forgetting a little song called Children Of The Grave.
Uh, it was about 10 years late to be proto metal dude.
Dickie Peterson scratches his head...
Yeah, it's like a decade too late to be proto metal. It's just some heavy rock going on. And it's awesome.
I saw Heart live at an outdoor festival. It started raining during their set and Anne was like, “Rock doesn’t stop for rain.” And they kept playing. They were awesome.
Heart "MAGIC MAN." Other Heart Bangers: "Straight On,: "Dog and Butterfly."
"Dog and Butterfly" is my favorite Heart tune, since I was a kid.
@@EphemeralTao Same! Really it's completely different then the Heart you've heard. More folk then rock and so SO beautiful.
I’ve loved Dog and Butterfly as far back as I can remember so now it’s got this beautiful nostalgic feeling for me.
Dog and butterfly is the only song my dad could play on record that’d get me to sit still. Turns out hubby loves your too
“Magic Man” is another great one by them. Plus, their performance of “Stairway to Heaven “ at The Kennedy Center to honor Led Zeppelin is epic.

First thing I thought of. Not many people still have amazing voices this many years into a career. Ann Wilson? Hold my beer, I'll outsing this entire choir! And Zeppelin were thrilled! She's spectacular, and so is Nancy!

Probably the greatest female rock singer !! Ann is the queen of female vocalists in Rock !
And maybe the greatest female rock singer Linda Ronstadt is the queen of female vocalists: range, Power, clarity, Timber and world-class in more musical genres then most great bands have true hits
A record executive made a really nasty comment about Ann and Nancy, not realizing they were sisters if you get the gist,so it's about the low life record exec, hence Barracuda
Yeah it was sick.
I didn't realize he didn't know they were sisters.
I never believed his gross accusation.
He did know they were sisters, it was a publicity stunt unknown to Ann and Nancy. Ann became enraged at a radio promoter when he mentioned the "relationship" on air.
The Veronicas are twin sisters who played up an incest-y vibe in their earlier videos, but did eventually drop that whole thing entirely in favor of just making music.
You can definitely see it in some of their older videos.

Gotta hit Magic Man....and Stairway to Heaven cover in front of surviving Led Zeppelin members with Jason Bonham on the drums. Kennedy Center Honors.
That Stairway performance is one of my favorite music moments. Chills...
Yes!!!!OMG!! Their cover of Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven is freaking amazing!! When I first saw it I was skeptical, but damn if they didn’t blow it away!! Amazing!!
Absolutely correct. MM and that version of Stairway. Perfect.
The Stairway cover was INCREDIBLE!
Robert Plant absolutely hates when people cover Stairway to Heaven. Heart's amazing cover of it at the Kennedy Center Honors is the only one that made him cry. Made me cry, too!
Nothin “happy” about those vocals... this is tough stuff, guys. Women in rock have a conundrum... they have female voices. Ann embraced hers, others growled. I think we would’ve all lost out if she didn’t just let those golden pipes fly clear and pure.
i think it works wonderfully. i mean, lots of metal has pure, high clean male vocals as well that you could easily replace with a female voice imo and it would sound awesome
@@givemeajackson The Iron Maidens do that and sound awesome.

How about their "Stairway to Heaven" tribute?
@@lisakaz35 OMG that tribute brought me to tears!!! Yes!!! Please review their tribute to Led Zeppelin!! Such a powerful, emotional performance!!
I wish you'd do Hearts tribute to led zeplin singing "stairway to heaven" at the Kennedy center honors!! Make sure you watch the FULL video with us!! This is the best cover ever!!
Amen to that!!
Yup this is a great pick
DEFINITELY !!!!!
Was thinking exactly the same thing.
With the Zeppelin guys in the audience watching Heart perform THEIR SONG you can tell they were holding back the tears on how good it sounded!!
The irony is Ann Wilson has a really low voice, she and many male singers of that rock era were singing at higher registers...
So, this is about their record company trying to promote them in a sexual way. (wanting Ann and Nancy, scantily clad, doing sexy poses together-let's don't forget, they are sisters) This song was the response to their record company. BadAss.
By the way, I saw them, something like, 3 years ago. They still sounded like they were in their prime. Can't say enough about ♥.
Don't forget they insinuated the sisters were really lesbian lovers.
100% correct. They were too powerful to be lied about.
And also, if you guys come back to more heart later and do any of their 80s era stuff, it's worth noting that the label by then had started trying to push Ann out of the spotlight because she'd gained some weight and Nancy was blonde and skinny. Nancy splits vocal duty on their 80s hits and in the music videos, they focus a lot on Nancy's body and put Ann in a lot of shadows.
She still has it to this day... I could listen to her sing the phone book and just smile.
They chose Hart to sing Stairway to Heaven at the National Honors for Led Zeppelin and they killed it.
it was an amazing cover! Ann and Nancy absolutely owned it!!!
They killed it
The best cover of any song, by any band, EVER! I can't get over how touching it was to hear Jason Bonham on the drums. The guys from Zeppelin were probably hearing their own song being taken to an entire new level!
In case you had any doubts about their influence: their studio, Bad Animals in Seattle, is where Alice In Chains and Nirvana recorded some of their best known music.
Respectfully, having a studio isn't a mark of influence. Led Zeppelin recorded at ABBA's studio for example.
@@ChrisLawton66 you may be missing the point. There are many studios in Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia. The decision to use Bad Animals was due to their respect for the Wilson sisters and their work. The members of AIC, whom the LIV guys love, are friends with Heart, and consider them mentors, as did many other bands such as Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, STP, Queensryche, Death Cab, Maclemore, all of whom talk about the positive influence from the Wilson's. Influence.

She does NOT have a Disney voice. She's got a raw powerful voice....She's in a league of her own...not even close to Disney....geez....one of the true female rock voices of our time
Disney voice isn’t an insult. Disney singers are very powerful and very raw even at times lol. They only get the best musicians for those movies
Heart is way underrated. The 80's stuff was love/hate with a lot of people so that may have something to do with it.
Neither sister liked the image the studio was insisting they portray. They stuffed Anne into corsets and all black because they harassed her about her weight as well. I actually love their 80s songs too. Just sad how they were treated.

You need to find the video of them doing this song live, her attitude while singing is so rock and roll. They weren't just great musicians, they were great performers.
I saw them in concert in 2019. Ann blew the roof on the stadium. I have never heard a stronger singer, and just as good as when she was young. It was surprising, shocking, and fantastic! Turned out to be one of the best concerts I’ve been to.
Can't wait for you guys to finally get to The Kennedy Center Honors cover / tribute to Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven in front of the band as they were being honored. Incredible version, brought Robert to tears.
No one ever mentions Nancy Wilson is probably top 5 guitarists ever - no ego, just a great likes all the great support for the vocalist.
Their cover of stairway to heaven is the best cover of another song I’ve ever heard in my life. Robert Plant cried during their performance
That was awesome
A banger from them is “Kick It Out.” Not one of the songs usually recommended but well worth a listen. Would be great for a Women in Rock marathon.
Other women to include: Bonnie Raitt (master of the blues slide guitar), Joni Mitchell (singer songwriter queen), Patti Smith ( “Because the Night”), Christie Hynde of The Pretenders, Melissa Etheridge.

Not specifically Rock, but Joni Mitchell is one of the most important women in music. Her first 9 albums are fantastic and range through Folk-Pop-Jazz so there's always something new to find! Also, such a great lyricist!
Dude...... Joni will take you down a rabbit hole just like TOOL does. Hejira album is the shit. Jaco Pastorius' best work (IMO). Black Crow, Coyote, Hejira..... amazing album.
Have mentioned the same! Pretty much anything from Blue but my favorite has to be Hejira. Those vocals and Jaco's bass.... just incredible. Anyway, Joni is a straight up LEGEND!
Barracuda was written by Ann Wilson after someone insinuated that Ann and her sister, Nancy, were lesbian lovers.
To this day, that riff is still heavy!
One of their most underrated tunes is ‘Heartless’. It’s got such a funky groove, with a smooth break hot enough to be an R&B sample. Would love to see your reactions.
I concur
Agreed! Cook with Fire is another rocker as well.
Agreed
@@michele3314 agreed as well
Heart is 3 for 3 right. now but just wait til you see them perform Stairway to Heaven IN FRONT OF Plant, JPJ and Page at the Kennedy Centre Honors! Mind Blowing!!!
One of the most sonically thrilling bridges of all time!!! LOVE that phasing effect! Heart single handedly introduced the music world to that effect!!!
Nightwish, "Ghost Love Score." The ultimate Disney meets opera meets metal encounter. Have you guys reacted to it yet? Actually, their primary songwriter lists Disney songs as one of his chief inspirations. And their current frontwoman is one if the best singers around.
They did Ghost Love Score for Patreon. Ryan was digging it, George was luke warm at best.
If you’re looking for more Heart songs, I highly recommend “Straight On.” Another great rocker
Yes Straight On
One of the greatest singers in rock n roll.
Check out Heart at the Kennedy Center Honors, They were chosen by Led Zeplin to do Stairway to Heaven. Its an incredible performance and LD goes buts for them.
Roger Fisher's guitar work is amazing. And Ann Wilson's voice--whoa!!
I completely understand what you're both saying. Such a fantastic song, I'm addicted. Love you guys, so positive & insightful, know your stuff.
Siouxsie and The Banshees “Spellbound” for unique vocals and Pat Benatar” We Live for Love” for amazing vocals!
KISS THEM FOR ME!
Siouxsie is the best! I love the album Superstition.
I recommended Siouxsie too, but I'd go for Blow the House Down, Cities in Dust, or Happy House.
Magic man probably hit that Playlist too, one of Heart's best!!!
Saw them at the Kingdome in Seattle back in the day. They are iconic in rock n roll. Fire baby...
Best live cover of Barracuda: Alice in Chains with Gretchen Wilson. Look it up on RUclips.
I watched that on VH-1 in 2007. Blew me away!
Yes!
Moriah Formica.... Plays and sings it. Well above average.
Gretchen kills it
Oh good lord that was amazing. Great vocal and some super nasty guitar playing from Jerry on that cover.
Thanks for your reactions - I enjoy them. For your Women in Rock marathon, make sure you include Linda Ronstadt. Try "You're No Good," or "When Will I Be Loved."
Heart is such a good band. 🖤 SO glad you're covering them.
That riff you were singing was from Bonanza. You know who played it? Rick Nielsen, the lead guitarist for Cheap Trick! He used to be a session musician in the 60's.
Women in rock to check out: Joan Jett, Pat Benetar, Chrissy Hynde and the Pretenders, Lita Ford, The Runaways (with Joan Jett and Lita Ford). For starters.
There is a reason someone like Nancy Wilson and other great artists have reached out to yall....because yall are Awesome! Thank for this channel and for just being real, yall bring a smile after a rough day at work. KEEP Rocking!
That early Disney reference had my head spinning, but great comeback! Heart is the shit!
Janis Joplin, Annie Lennox, Garbage, Stevie Nicks, The Cranberries, Hole, Florence + The Machine, Paramore, Grace Potter
I'm sorry if I missed it but have you heard hearts tributes of Led Zeppelin?
Joan Jett
You missed one of the All-time Best - Skin & Skunk Anaise
Veruca Salt, Lita Ford, L7...
Sleater-Kinney too!
one of my favorite songs is my theme song by heart knows as MAGIC MAN.
Gretchen Wilson with Alice In Chains KILLED their cover of this song
Wilson had to cut short half the notes that Ann hits.
Saw her do it in person at a music festival, different but a great cover
YES! The one you started towards the end “Alone” is a def must + Magic Man and their live rendition of Stairway to Heaven in honour of Led Zeppelin. You’ll be blown away!
Y’all had me crying and laughing so hard when you figured out Alone was Heart. Always awesome, you guys always keep it real, and someone in the comments broke it down how the woman who sang on the Aladdin soundtrack is one of the most respected singers in the world so your comparison is no sleight but rather a compliment. Good stuff. Keep up the good work!
🦋 Omg! The riff is BONANZA.
Anyway. ☺️
🦋 Barracuda is an all-time fave of mine.
I've said for decades that I feel BARRACUDA is one of the handful of rock songs that can't be improved on in any way.
IT IS A RARE 'PERFECT' SONG!!!
🎙🎸🥁🎹
That's how I see it.
I saw HEART rock a stage 5 times and in the 2010s, the Ladies and Company have lost nothing.
❤ HEART ❤
🦋 Hey guys, this is my favorite reaction of yours to date.
As the song goes on, your excitement, my excitement and everybody watching, it just explodes.
As it should.
That's how GREAT THIS SONG IS!
Take a bow
🎙Ann Wilson and
🎸🎙Nancy Wilson,
🎸Roger Fisher,
🥁 Michael DeRosier, and ......... 🎶
Good stuff, THANKS!!!!!!!!! 🐕👩🦳🗻
Rocker called “ If Looks Could Kill.” They killed it.
I just found you gents 3 days ago, and I am so hooked on you guys!!!
I wasn't funding new posts which made me feel like I was too late to the party but I am thrilled to find a new video!!!
HA HA BONANZA!!!
CAN NOT STOP WATCHING YOU GUYS!!!
THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOURSELVES WITH US AND MAKING ME SMILE EVERY TIME I WATCH!(
If you do Heart again you should do Magic Man.
Yuuuuuuuuup
Magic man or Alone are the next obvious choices but id like to see them do something a little more off the beaten track like Bebe le Strange
HEART - MAGIC MAN
HEART - STRAIGHT ON
Heart's early rock hits: Crazy On You, Magic Man, Heartless, Barracuda, Straight On and Even It Up.
After their 1985 comeback, their music had evolved into mainly power ballads:
What About Love, Never, These Dreams (sung by Ann Wilson), Who WIll You Run To, Alone, and Stranded.
These are all worth a listen.
Straight On is a groove. And crank up Kick It Out, Even It Up, Heartless, Cook With Fire.... And then maybe go for deep cuts blues like Love Alive and Mistral Wind. So much good stuff!
