This song is about a record exec started a rumor that the sisters had a lesbian relationship(to increase record sales). When Ann found out she wrote this song that night.
Really? I mean it is definitely a very sexual song, but doesn't sound like it is talking about a lesbian relationship. Sounds like she is talking about some kind of John Holmes type dude.
@Norwegisn Blue The song itself isn't about an incestuous lesbian relationship, its Ann Wilson's response to the record exec sinking so low as to spread that rumour. He's the Barracuda in the song who does and says anything it takes to gain notoriety for the band, regardless of the personal effect on the band itself.
@@fortch17 Exactly. "If the real thing don't do the trick, you better make up something quick" = Fabricate an incestuous affair to market the band. It was despicable, and they moved to a different label as a result.
Gotta do “Magic Man” if you haven’t yet. So much VIBE in that song! Ann Wilson is known to be one of the top rock singers ever. “Barracuda” doesn’t capture her versatility and style as well as other songs do. “Dog and Butterfly” is a good ballad too.
@@cryptoholica72 Me too! Also interesting factoid: cover bands would never play Magic Man because they couldn’t figure it out. The two guitarists were on different tunings. It’s basically impossible to play certain parts on standard tuning, but other parts must be played in standard.
Oh Heart two sisters that Rocked the 70’s & 80’s. Still rocking … you gotta go hear their rendition of Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven . It was at the Kennedy Center Honoring Led Zeppelin . Jason Bonham played his daddy’s set of drums that night . This was very emotional for everyone that grew up with Led Zeppelin. John Bonham was the best drummer in my world . Honestly, it's the best cover I've ever heard , probably the best cover ever. Man , they are ultra talented and those pipes of Ann !! I guess it's only appropriate that it would take Rock Goddesses to flawlessly sing the song of Rock Gods.
What I love about most of the Wilson Sisters' music is that you can it is definitely tell it's from the 70's or 80's but timeless at the same time. Hence why they are Legends!
Loved their 70's stuff but "Alone" you hear why Ann Wilson is considered one of the greatest female rock voices. and "These Dreams" give you a chance to hear Nancy Wilson sing. Quite honestly their guitarist is a bad ass! Loved it u 2!
Her facial reaction while listening to the song and hearing the female singer just says it all. Heart is an amazing powerful band with awesome vocals and amazing guitar and drums
Barracuda was written by Ann Wilson when a record label exec made a derogatory comment about her and her sister Nancy. She penned the song in retaliation and it became a hit. Heart is one of my faves…thanks for the reaction!
Heart's tribute to Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center Honors, Stairway to Heaven with 2 choirs, John Bohnams son playing drums. Bring tears to my eyes every time I watch it. Spine tingles!
