After you saw the Led Zep honours video....couldn't wait to see your reaction to Ann just going and belt her own song. She is up there for lead rock singers for all time.
Welcome to the Legend that is Ann Wilson. A pioneer for women and one of the best female vocalists of all time. You just fell down the heart rabbit hole. Plus, the Blonde guitarist is her sister Nancy Wilson, another true legend. The Wilson sisters are awesome.
The band that slipped your mind with the guy who plays the flute is Jethro Tull. Back to Heart, The Wilson sisters are amazing and a vast library of great songs.
Quote from an Ann Wilson interview: “The soul has to be open just a certain way to sing,” she says. “In fact I learned how to sing through Aretha Franklin, just that from-the-church type full voice, it’s more like melting, it’s singing, but it’s more than just singing in a pretty way. It’s like a total physical immersion way of singing.” It took her a while to believe that she could sing rock ‘n’ roll. “I was maybe 23 or 24, and I was in Heart, but I was just like the chick singer in the band. But then I realized that by singing Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, covering those bands, it taught me how to sing rock ‘n’ roll - loud and high.”
I'm so excited you're watching more Heart! If you continue down the rabbit hole, there's a live version of "crazy on you" where Nancy has a killer guitar intro, and "alone" is one of my favorites. But honestly I can't think of 1 song where they weren't amazing. Thank you for your videos, I enjoy watching you experience new music 😊
Funny, this song was inspired by an inappropriate comment a record promoter made about the two sisters. Whatta way to get revenge. Lol. Great reaction Britt…..MORE HEART please, “Alone” and “All I wanna do” ETC. Very talented sisters!
It was much more than an "inappropriate comment". It was a flat out knowing lie starting a vile rumor in an attempt to generate controversy and publicity at the sisters expense.
Ann's voice it truly a multitool. She can be as sharp as a knife, and then turn around and use it like a sledgehammer. Her vocal control is just on a whole other level from other singers.
Ann Wilson is one of the best. That's why she was selected to sing Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honors for Led Zeppelin...she's one of the few who can sing like Robert Plant used to sing. Her sister (Nancy) is pretty damn good on the guitar too.
That was a great concert. But Dolly parton won a reward for her cover of stairway to heaven . I think you should check it out ? It's truly unique, I think you would enjoy the difference in the presentation of the song.
@@timtubemusic the heart cover was the best I agree. But the cover of dollys was great. Because it adds something different. I didn't say it was better. ? Only interesting
@Joseph Mullinax , Yes...I like listening to various covers, and Dolly Parton did a pretty good job of this song. It's like a country version of a rock classic.
If you want crazy harmonies from these ladies check out their cover of Led Zeppelin’s “The Battle of Evermore”. Most people don’t realize that Nancy is every bit the talented singer that Anne is.
Not only is it a fantastic song featuring brilliant vocals from both sisters it's also one of the few tracks I have ever seen in which Anne plays guitar!!! Make it happen Britt!!!!!
Ummm, no she isn't. Anne is possibly the greatest female rock singer of all time. Nancy is a decent harmonizer but she can't hold a candle to her sister vocally. Otherwise she'd sing more leads.
You’ve quickly become one of my favorite reactors, keep doing and being you. This song was actually one of the first diss tracks. Ann wrote it about a record exec I believe that made a crass remark about her and her sister.
I totally agree! Heart has many hits and lots of great music spanning decades. But "Alone" has to be in my top 3, if not my favorite, of their songs - especially for the vocals.
Excellent classic song and vocals (Ann Wilson)! Nancy Wilson is her sister, plays a mean guitar and can sing too. In a previous video honoring Led Zeppelin where Ann and Nancy (and Led Zeppelin's drummer, John Bonham's son) played, you asked for Heart hits: Crazy on You, Magic Man, and These Dreams (slower song)
Once again, your eloquence and interesting take on things had me hooked to the screen. You really are one the best reactors out there. I’ve loved this band since childhood and always loved Ann’s cadence and playful way of singing. You nailed this!
Sisters harmonizing and her sister the blonde( Nancy) has a great voice too! Check out These Dreams by Heart with Nancy singing lead! So many great songs by this group!
One thing to note, is that this was the actual live audio, and the vocals were spot on! There's a similar video, but with the studio audio dubbed over it. Too bad the guitars didn't sound as good on this, but the vocals were great. 🤘😎
It sure sounded like the tape (VCR?) got stretched a bit. Guitars were warbling like the sound from an old reel-to-reel movie. I'd be willing to bet that they were all in tune when this performance was originally recorded.
This version sucks! Poor Britt didn't hear the quality & soul of the studio overdub. This was lack-luster & detracted from what the group is capable of.
Welcome to lady legends of Rock Ann and Nancy Wilson!! Ann Wilson has arguably one of the greatest Rock voices in rock this includes men as well. They were pioneers and paved the way for so many women in the world of Rock. Love the reaction..love Heart!!
Medieval was the theme of the day....Heart are undisputedly leaders in rock legend. They are contemporaries of Led Zeppelin ergo the choice to have them do the main tribute. Makes sense, doesn't it!
This performance is usually overdubbed with the studio version. But this is the actual live sound. I don’t know how this reactor pulled this up. I've never heard this version. This is rare.
This song was written about their promoter, after he told them that he wanted to spread a rumor about the two sisters having a sexual relationship with each other. They were fuming when he said that and Anne wrote the song later in her hotel room.
Folks can debate who may be the greatest female vocalist of all time, but there is no debate that Ann Wilson has THE most powerful female vocals. She is legendary.
Wonderful reaction to another real talent - and their sister harmony is as effortless as you mentioned. Ann certainly has some legendary pipes!! Thanks for your channel - 109,000+ subscribers in record (no pun intended) time!!
It helps that she’s absolutely beautiful (I had a deep crush on her when I was a kid) AND she’s got the most powerful and yet beautiful voice in Rock N’ Roll! ❤
The flute player you're thinking of is Ian Anderson of the group Jethro Tull. I saw Heart in concert at about the time of this video. So many artists' live performances are disappointing, but Heart killed it live. Not super flashy, just great talent. My favorite band of all time. They had quite a few hits, but my favorite is one called Alone.
It’s really a gypsy style more than anything, their album Little Queen ( which was the first album I ever bought, age 10) they’re dressed as gypsies and this look was not too long after. Definitely check out more of Heart, Ann Wilson has such a strong versatile voice
Gretchen Wilson does a nice cover of Barracuda with the newly reformed Alice n Chains for a VH1 honors in 2007 for context. Ann has set the bar for female rock vocalists and Gretchen comes close even though she's most known as a country artist.
This is really different. I've seen this video quite a few times. It's always been accompanied by the studio recording. This might be the actual live version. 1st time hearing it.
Your’e right!! I was like “Oh no….this videos audio is outa sync in this one”. But nope! I was relieved that somebody has finally uploaded the correct live audio. There was no need to ever dub the studio recoding over it - her vocals are amazing and Nancy killed it!! I guess the other guitar player’s sound is a bit wacky and distorted but maybe that was deliberate? Idk.
Ann's voice is weapons-grade. In terms of this classic-rock era, I put her on the same level with Freddie Mercury. It's not hard to make the case that she's the greatest female rock vocalist, ever. The clarity, and seemingly effortless power... The woman's voice is super-human. As for the harmony, she is of course singing along with her Sister. The two had been singing together all their lives, and the way they complement each other is just a joy to listen to.
Ya know Britt, it's more amazing, sitting front row, center balcony in a small 1,500 seat arena watching them. Just so happens that I did just that in August 1977. 😊
I am so glad your reacted to this version of the video. This has the live tracks. There is another version of this video out there with studio recorded tracks. This version is so raw. One of my favorite Heart songs, takes me back to when I was a teenager in the mid-to late seventies and cranking up this song every time it came on the radio.
i was born in '71 and have older siblings. this was the first song I ever remember listening to and enjoying. Dad liked country, Mom liked Neil Diamond, but my sisters liked rock, now much later, I still love this song and the "babes from Bellevue" (also my home state) are still rock legends!
Such a great band. Unbelievable talent! You are such a bright, alive pleasurable person. I so enjoy you and your channel! Try “All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You” by Heart. 😅
You just listen to the greatest female voice in rock history!!! They have dozens of great hits. Heart has been my favorite group for almost 40 yrs. By the way, the two women in the group are sisters.
Heart has a lot of popular hits, but one of my favorite's is the sleeper hit : "Tell It Like It Is". Very worthy of a listen, even if you don't react to it, I think you would really enjoy the lyrics and vocals.
Ann and Nancy Wilson are the female members of Heart. They are the Core of the band. Ann sings most lead vocals, but Nancy also has a great voice, maybe not as powerful as Ann. Nancy is also a accompliced musician and song writer.
And you though she was good doing Stairway to Heaven.... This is WHY she was invited to honor Led Zeppelin. Heart was one of the groups that were always on the radio when I was a kid. Please continue down this rabbit hole, I guarantee you'll not be disappointed. Great reaction Britt!
Check out the live version of them doing crazy on you but make sure to get where Nancy does that really cool guitar opening. They were back-to-back on the album infected guitar solo is shorter on the album but it is meant to lead directly into Crazy On You. And you sometimes heard it that way on the radio as well.
🤘😎🤘 Enjoyed your reaction! That killer electric guitar opening was written and performed by Heart co-founder, Roger Fisher. The singer and acoustic guitarist are sisters, Ann & Nancy Wilson. The lyrics were written by Ann Wilson and the music was written by Roger Fisher, Nancy Wilson and drummer Mike Derosier.
Heart was awesome, such a fabulous sound. I've heard this song countless times, but you know what I noticed this time? I noticed that your nails are fabulous, too! :) Nicely done, Britt.
🔥🔥🔥🎼🔥🔥🔥 ... fire !! all day - all night .. this is great Rock n Roll , all of it .. the banging guitar - the rolling drums - the power bass- and the soaring vocals .. excellence !! Nice one Britt .. total fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Good morning, I love heart . I seen them in concert in 1985 . Back then they threw the most elaborate stage productions. Classic heart song is ( dog & butterfly.).
I saw Heart when Howard Leese was still their lead guitarist. The first time he stepped to the edge of the stage and let loose with a guitar solo the entire stadium shook and people jumped out of their seats and cheered. It was epic!!
Heart is known for doing cover Led Zep songs when they are on tour. The 3 concerts I have seen of Heart, they ended all 3 shows with their cover of Led Zeps "Rock and Roll" Song. The concerts that I went to were also in different album tours as well, so they have been doing it for a while.
Jethro Tull-the guy with the flute. Between the "summer of love" 1969 and 1977 when disco changed everything, there was a blending of "hippy" clothes and renesaunce clothing. In the North, it was fairly sensible..and the Wilson's are from Seattle. The vocalist actually plays the flute. And her sister Nanvy (the blonde one) did sing harmonies with Anne their whole lives. So good call Britt! They were all huge Zeppelin fans to. Often covered them in live performances Give the lyrics a read. The song is more defiant than you might think!
Ann was and still a great singer. Powerful voice yet can also be tender. Her talent really is a a divers range. And her sister, Nancy, is another talented singer. Saw them a few years back and Ann was still great. Other female singers to check out: Floor Jansen - singer for band Nightwish. Check Ghost Love Score Tarja Terunen - ex singer for Nightwish but now solo career Sharon Den Adel - singer for Withn Temptation. Check paradise ( duet with Tarja Terunen) Bonnie Tyler - solo artist Check Total Eclipse of the Heart or Holding out for a Hero Noora Louhimo - singer for BattleBeast. Check Bringer of Pain Amy Lee - singer for Evanescence. Check My Immortal Charlotte Wessels - ex singer of Delain. Now solo career. Check The Gathering or the ballad version of We Are the Others Elena Pinna - singer of Onyria - Check their cover of Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On
This is the first time I've heard the actual concert audio with this video. Every other time it has been the studio recording dubbed onto this video. Very interesting to see it synced up properly.
Ann Wilson, the greatest female rock vocalist in history backed up by her sister Nancy Wilson the greatest female rock guitarist in history...and if anybody disagrees with that statement they can fight me!
She wrote this as a disgusted response to a journalist asking her how her lover was. He meant, her sister Nancy. Ann went back to the hotel and wrote this in one sitting. As female rock and rollers, they fought hard for their place on the podium. Icons. I am from Vancouver Canada where they lived and worked for a few years (they and their boyfriends were against the Vietnam war). We claim them as much as Seattle does (where they’re from)
When i was 2 years old this song came out and i was obsessed with it. If i ever heard it, I went running from wherever i was to crank it up!!! My nickname was barracuda for years! Everyone should have known how cool i was going to be even back then haha
I heard them in concert once in the mid to late seventies. I didn't see the concert. I was about 1/2 mile away from the jai alai fronton where they were performing in Tampa. They sounded great even that far away.
1:45 Jethro Tull? As a young boy, my world was spinning in the gleeful love of volcanoes, dinosaurs, sharks, shipwrecks, insects... and yes, barracuda's! Not sure if I'm adding anything to the conversation by saying that, but I was three years old when this track came out. I've half heard it so many times in the background, but this is the first time I have actually paid attention. Better late than never. This is a dope little track!
You have the most wonderfully positive reactions. Thank you for the positivity.
thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy the videos! have a great day!
It's fun watching young folks discover the golden age of rock music.
Yes it is, I love seeing them realize what we mean when we say we had the BEST music, and I love that they too come to love it.
Didn't expect Ann WIlson to absolutely rock? lolololololololol, welcome to arguably the greatest female vocalist in rock history!
Ann is my favorite female vocalist ever!
Agreed. Let’s not forget Pat Benatar, tho!
She doesn't know that! LOL This is her first time hearing this.

It was funny watching Robert Plants rather critical eye versus Jimmy Page's total enjoyment of their performance.

No need to dance around it. The totally made up nonsense was that the sisters were lovers. 🤮
She was very angry when she wrote this.
These two blend so well because they are sisters. One of the best rock bands of the 70’s.

I saw Heart when Howard Leese was still their lead guitarist. The first time he stepped to the edge of the stage and
let loose with a guitar solo the entire stadium shook and people jumped out of their seats and cheered.
Often covered them in live performances
Give the lyrics a read. The song is more defiant than you might think!
Ann was and still a great singer. Powerful voice yet can also be tender. Her talent really is a a divers range. And her sister, Nancy, is another talented singer. Saw them a few years back and Ann was still great.

This is the first time I've heard the actual concert audio with this video. Every other time it has been the studio recording dubbed onto this video. Very interesting to see it synced up properly.
Same I was like why does it sound different.
…..ok….. I thought I was hearing it different. Sounds a bit off. Never heard this version before ! Still a banger ❤️
Sounds like a lot was overdubbed or something.
@@stevenmonte7397 the video is sped-up
@@scastillo0923 Same here, I like the other version better, however
Most powerful rock sisters ever!
Sisters, Ann & Nancy Wilson, "Heart", can be summed up in ONE word "POWERHOUSE" !!!
