I don’t even see that. It sounds stilted and lacking in any passion that Crowe might have tried to bring.
@@captainhowlerwilson508
True.
I can't understand why he got so insulted for it. He did much better than many other actors they tried to turn into singers.
@@captainhowlerwilson508 That's the idea. The characters isn't supposed to be passionate, but rather extremely rational and traditional, submissive to the system. His singing is supposed to express no personal feeling, only the wish to obey. He did just fine if you ask me.

Javart's voice really is remarkable. I never knew the guy could sing, now I'm surprised he bothers acting.
Well, Russell Crowe is a musician. Well he is a good singer, but Crowe puts a wrong style of singing, which screws him over, and cause man criticisms.
HeyItsKlaus People completely miss the point of Crowe's singing style. He's the bad guy, so that reflects in his singing. In the same way that Hugh Jackman changes his voice in the movie as he gets older, everyone's style at any point reflects the character type they're trying to convey. If Crowe's voice was pure and nice, it would have been completely mismatched with the character.
Crowe is a musican he's the actor of javert, he is decent of those confrontations.
To think you all might think Crowe`s taste of singing was terrible.

why are two australians using british accents in a film that takes place in france?
Hollywood...
tom holmes nic cage It's a British film so not really hollywood, plus they're singing in English, it would sound terrible if they both put on French accents.
Considering also an English accent is easier to put on than a French one for people who speak English as a first language, it's easy to understand why they did it.
Also isn't Russell Crowe a Kiwi?

24601 releases his Sandwich on parole.
Having only seen the movie version, I have no prior knowledge of the musical itself. The story is really interesting, many of the actors were great. Considering the songs weren't pre-recorded, the actors did a really good job.
There's something odd about Russel's singing, but overall, the performance isn't bad. He sings with honesty, which is more convincing than a perfect voice. "Do not forget me, 24601"
Jackman is really great as Valjean, I can't imagine anyone else playing him. However; one thing that bothered me throughout the movie was his vibrato, making his performance quite distracting to watch.

in the terrible Noah movie, when the young emma watson asked him to sing to her, this song immediately came to mind
shut up Noah is great!
lol, how was it good? was it good in the same way that Man of Steel was "good"? it shat all over the Biblical story AND the apocryphal book of enoch from which it borrowed heavily. and as if that were not enough, none of the actors were very convincing or emotive in their roles. and just look at the design of the Ark! it didn't even look like a boat, just a giant wooden box that would have been smashed to pieces in a flood (and don't try to say "well God protected it" because God was depicted in the worst possible light in that movie, just like how Superman was in MoS. nor will i accept "they didn't know anything about boating" because 1] in the film, rock-angels (who raped human females in the book of enoch, but that was cut out because, after all, God has to be the bad guy in this movie, not the rebel angels) made the boat, and these were the same ones who taught mankind everything, so they should know and 2] if we want to throw the Biblical account in there, even though they shat on it so much it barely matters if we do or not, there actually WERE rivers present in the pre-flood Earth, just not seas or floods
but, likely you'll pull the "omg, don't bash me with your religion, i'm an atheist" card, so then let me respond with this: if you're going to make an adaption of a story - ANY story, whether it's Lord of the Rings, Superman or the Bible - altering the story significantly shows the director and writer's disrespect for the original work and the elevation of their vision over the original (this is the problem you run into with adaptations that original films don't have). in short, if it was wrong for Peter Jackson to alter Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit the way he did (which it was), then it was wrong for aronofsky to alter the story of Noah for this movie
tl;dr Noah is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, your argument is invalid
One True Vikingbard Noah was crap but Man of Steel was AWESOME!

Wait, then why were they both singing along with the other prisoners about having to serve 20 more years?
Well when you have to work for 19 years I'm sure time is lost and it probably still feels like he has "20 more years" metaphorically.
He served his time but he was given his papers that branded him as a thief, try getting a job with a criminal record like that you might as well be still serving time.

I know Russell Crowe sang differently, but i honestly have no problem with his performance.
I preferred his singing over anne hathaways :/. Don't get me wrong, she is a good actress, but I think for a musical, she shouldn't literally be crying every word. Imo, a little too much emotion. Jarvert actually sings, and his lack of emotion is justified through his character.
Zeruckiven well, It was at that very moment she realized she was in too deep, there was no turning back, and she lost all hope. But you are entitled to your opinion, I hated most of Jackman's air time...
