- In this Range Report, I get the chance to shoot and review another Girsan pistol. This pistol is a copy or clone of the Beretta 84FS and has many of the advantages and shortcomings of the design. This pistol however is slightly modernized and offers a few things many people have been wanting out of a .380 ACP CCW pistol. This video documents my personal thoughts, opinions and experiences with this firearm. Yours may vary.
**Disclaimer**
This pistol was sent to my channel by EAA for review.

My old department offered deputies to carry the 1911 in 9mm or 45 if they qualified on it. I was a civilian clothes warrant/fugitive deputy who carried the same m11 I carried as a CID Agent in the Army. Deputies always talked about how old guys would come up and say "Your Hammer is back" when they were in public. I had to appear in court and didn't know the bailiff at all. I walked up to him before court started and pointed at his 1911 and before I could say anything he yelled (in the courtroom) "Yes, I know my F'ing hammer is back and it's supposed to be that way" I calmly said "I have no idea if your hammer is back, you dropped your pistol when you got up, Ahole" it was 12ft from an inmate who was just looking at the gun, and looking at me. He knew I was a deputy and didn't dare go near it. The deputy was fired after an investigation for breaking proceedure and allowing an inmate access to a firearm. I told him that if he wasn't such an whole about it , I was trying to be discreet. I wasn't going to say a damned thing. His outburst started the recording in the courtroom and that's how the sheriff heard about it. The judge was going back through the tapes after everyone was acting weird as she came into the room, she wanted to know why. End of my cocked and locked story.
That is a crazy story! Thank you for sharing!
6:19 You're right, I was initially interested in the Girsan 84 copy but the lack of decocker changed my mind. I learned to shoot with a 92fs so not being able to carry hammer down safety on is a no-go for me.
Thank you.
My MC14 G84 has a 6# DA and 3# SA (that feels more like 2# to me). The SA is so light I would accidentally double-tap, and the rounds would be in one hole or 1/4" apart--so that's nice. I was getting my hand pinched or hit by the slide or hammer or something, so I had to lower my grip. But I put in a 32ACP conversion barrel, and now it's amazing fun to shoot.
I got mine bc I love the old 84bb look (compared to the 80X), but I sure wish it had a Decocker-Only model...I was nervous about decocking it, but got over that fast (I just put my thumb in there, then get my finger off the trigger before I let the hammer go down).
NOTE: I paid $279 for the two-tone, and put 100rds of Fiocchi FMJ and 50rds of Magtech FMJ through mine without a single issue.
Wow! That is really light. I did not know they made a .32 ACP conversion. I bet that is so much fun!
@@jedcoupland8587 Where on Earth are you finding.32 acp ammo?
Great Review Thank You!
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me.
Good stuff I have a 84fs and she runs great never any issues with my girl. going to add a 80x down the road just haven't yet. She's in my edc rotation also. Enjoy everyone
Thank you for watching and I am glad you enjoy pistols like this.
read up on the safety issue with the decocker not that you will pass it up but make sure you do not have the issue or have to take it to a gunsmith
Mine has run perfect, but i admit i have never run flat nose ammo.... no plans to carry it, so never tried hallowpoint.. but other wise a pretty sweet shooter... especially for the price... Girsan is making some quality weapons
I agree and thank you for watching.
Yeah, I tested the Underwood 65gr +P stuff and it ran two mags (+1 each), but if I carried it, I'd probably just carry Fiocchi FMJ. :)
Thanks for the honest review. Had the Tisas Fatih version. Total garbage! Sold it ASAP!
I am glad you enjoyed it.
Good looking gun!!
Yes it is.
I don't own the Girsan but my Beretta 84F mirrors your experience. I still think it is a good carry gun with 14 rounds in a reasonable package, but hot 380 loads from the boutique makers can be harsh firing. Shoot the same ammo in a locked breech Colt Gov 380 and its very mild. What Girsan should have done is keep the styling cues. but design a locked breech 380 like a SIG's or CZ75's.
I agree. That would have been a good idea.
Nice review Big Jay. I do enjoy your content. Not a fan of Beretta or it's clones. WhatI do like is that Girsan improved the design. Which to me is a big plus. As to the flat nose Sig ammo I had issues running it in my P238 and Springfield 911.
Thank you and I do find it interesting about this Sig ammo. I do not know why they did not make is round nosed.
Great video, I wonder how the recoil compares to the ruger security 380, I really enjoyed the content of your videos keep up the good work 👍
Thank you so much. I have not reviewed the Security 380 yet, so I can not compare. I am sorry.
@@thetexasgunvault 👍
@@thetexasgunvault how about the G42?
❤
Thank you.
I just bought the gun!! Can you machine the ramp of the slide to make the flat noze work too?
You might, but I have no experience with that.
I believe you can but play safe have a gunsmith do it
Do a ramp and polish job on it. Spend an hour on it and I can guarantee your feeling issues will be over. Even still , I don't want flat nose and anything that I own because that has the most Probability of hanging up over other designs.
Good idea and I agree with you. Thank you for your comment.
hope you check out the SDS 84 clone looks just like an 84 with primo grips and people need to understand that a single double has to be carried cocked and locked the double action is there in case you have a bum primer PS you are right about the recoil spring if you think that one is bad wait to you check out a beretta 81
I will have to check it out.
Can't you remove or disable the magazine disconnect on the Beretta?
I am not sure if it is like the Hi-Power or not. I have not seem people talk about it.
yes it can be done if your not sure doing it yourself get a gunsmith to do it
Can also get a used 84BB it is the model that they cloned. No decocker, no mag disconnect and no square trigger guard. Palmetto has some police trade in Beretta 84BB.
SDS has a clone looks like an 84 with primo grips and affordable can not wait to get one
girsan doesnt make an FS model of this pistol?
I don't think so.
