My grandmother would be extremely proud of me because for one, she could never get me to eat black eye peas as a kid 😂 I tried this last New Years and it was delicious.
Girl.....this is what I'm talking about! I could eat this all by itself without meat! I need some cornbread though! lol. This is definitely going on the list!
Yummy ! As a kid my mom cooked this a lot for new years but she did it the old school fatty way, it was good but not so healthy , today now that I'm in my 40's when I cook southern style food I put a healthy alternative on it .Thanks for sharing, showing people healthy food can still have lots of flavor .
Out of nowhere I have a strong craving for black eyed peas and collard greens! I think my ancestors speaking to me ahaha! Thank you for this super simple awesome video!
Just tried this and it's never going to leave my rotation. Such a great soup as it is but I'm definitely going to spice it up a bit next time with some harissa & lemon. You rock!
I just made this and it was so good, I'm not a bean lover, not at all, however, I did use them, but not time I want, and I do not eat pork, so I used uncure turkey bacon next time I will switch the veggies up, like cabbage, green beans, or spinach.
I grew up on hoppin john........I bet you could add rice and call it Hoppin John soup. Cool! Of course you have to have skillet cornbread or johnny cakes to go with it. Can you tell I grew up in the Carolinas? lol Anyway......this looks great, and can't wait to make it!
