A tip for using collard leaves as sandwich wraps is to steam them for 1-2 minutes then plunge in cold water, then pat dry. They’re more pliable and less bitter.
Back by popular demand is my 101 series! And I'm kicking things off with an updated version of Collard Greens. Can't wait to hear what you think, enjoy this one!! xo-Dani

Had the good fortune of receiving fresh grown NC grown vegetables and blueberries today. Yes, In January! Came across your video tonight. Four years old? Wow! Thanks for all the info. I think you could be a sister I never had. I love dark green leafy vegetables. Honestly ALL vegetables. Been in NC 10 years and love collards. Using them in soup this week. Thank you! Very informative video🥰
Bought some collards bc I knew they were a great healthy addition to a week’s menu but had no idea how I’d prepare them. I wanted to do something that didn’t involve the traditional southern way of adding less than healthy ingredients. This was a perfect video to inspire & get me ready to do something with them. Thanks for being a reliable resource in my cleaning eating/cooking journey!
I thought I was the only person who cooked my collards this way besides the usual(cooked slow with pork or turkey for hours). Love this recipe and I have tried the collard green wraps. Delicious!
Finally, someone who also eats the stems instead of discarding them! All of the recipes look delicious, will definitely try the one with raisins. Collards are delicious, I was raised on them. Tfs.
Very much enjoyed this recipe tonight! Thank you! My husband said no raisins but I ignored him since I’m the cook & I grew the collared greens from seed in my garden 🪴 😆. I recommend this recipe 100%. Thank you again! ☺️
Love the different ideas you show for using collard greens in the quick montage. And this recipe looks great. I’ve never actually found a way to cook collards that I like, but I’m going to try this one.
Fantastic video, thrilled and inspired by everything you do. Watching your videos, I gathered the courage and opened my RUclips channel, and I enjoy every bit of cooking and video making. Thank you and continue to be an inspiration to everyone !!!! Thank you!!👏👍❣
Just found your video today and cooked this for my family. It was a hit! Thanks so much for the detailed instructions and for the simple and delicious recipe!
This is really helpful. We have taken over a mature veg garden and there are a number of collard plants. I had never heard of collard until an American friend said how popular they were. I tried cooking some tonight and they were over done and crispy, I threw some salt on and it was like crispy sea weed texture, still tastes good so I wasn't mad 😊
I'm from the desert southwest region so the only times I had collard greens was when I went deep into the country in the Midwest in ILL. and my cousin threw some on my plate. Another time was when I went to my friend's party and his mom was from the south and made a big pot of it. Both times it was the most flavorful delicious green leaf that I've ever had.
I grew up eating collard greens...love them! My mom and grandmothers would slow cook them with ham hocks or smoked turkey legs. I've never made them so thanks for this recipe! It's a great reminder to add collards to my grocery list.
Never been a fan of collards, but as a CSA member I get them and certainly won't waste them. I never liked the hours long recipes with ham hock etc. So yesterday, as usual, I searched the internet for recipes and came across this one with the raisins a real keeper! Quick and easy. Hoping to get it in my share again this week so I can make it for my daughter. . Thank you Have any special recipes for red kale?
I also just chop them and add them to soups, pasta, Asian dishes etc. Also chop out the stem and use as a wrap for good fillings like Peking duck, Mexican etc etc. Of course, like kale it can be seasoned and microwaved and that dries it out to be like Chinese restaurant 'seaweed' also. (Its not real seaweed usually that you buy!) Many uses. Best wishes from England.
This is by far the best tutorial I've watched. New to cooking collard greens, I appreciate the details and tips you've shared. I thought the greens had to be cooked for hours, which was a deterrent. Now I will go your route and hope they turn out as delicious and tasty as yours are.
Thank you so much for the short tutorial. I am looking for a way to get some more vitamins into my diet and collard greens are at the top of the list. I have never tried them before so this will be a first. I will try your recipes and come back to your channel again for more info! Have a great day and stay healthy. ;)
For my birthday I got big food box. My face was twisted in nervous anticipation of what to find in this big box. In the box was an assortment of healthy foods one of which was collard greens. Your video helped me in preparing my greens, thanks.

Collards are more traditionally desired in the autumn and winter here in the northeast. They are especially good once the frost has hit them; so everyone rushes to pick them up the week after the temperatures drop! I read that the slivered cuts and steam cooking is more popular in South America, and I tried it several years ago. It helps to quicken the cooking process, but doesn't leave that delicious "pot likker" I love. Never tried raisins. I guess it's similar to putting cranberries in kale salad (which I love).
Thanks for this I used once in a smoothie and had abdominal cramps , i thought was the way i washed , but is because is a cruciferous, they tend to give me a little of abdominal pains , so I always cooked them a little bit .Now I know that with this recipe is easier to enjoy
This recipe is outstanding!! I cooked some black-eyed peas with a large jalapeño cut four ways with some parsley and then strained off the pepper and parsley and served with the collards! I might try adding the raisins next week. I was so surprised how much the flavor transformed after cooking. I tried some raw and that was a really strong flavor, but after cooking, wowzers. Yummmmm!!! Thank you for this delicious addition.
YES! I'm finally going to try cooking collards! I don't know why collards always intimidated me? Simple, Delicious and good for you, I'm all in! Thank you!
Want to thank you so much for making these delicious nutritious videos my mouth is watering! It's only been about 2 years since I've been eating healthy or healthier and my body has been craving more and more healthy veggies. Thank you!!!
Thank you for this! I have always been intimidated by collard greens, so I never have bought them. Now that I know what I can use them for, I will give them a try!
I used to watch this channel when it was under 100k, I’ve been subscribed but never got a video on my homepage. I decide to look you up just now and you’re over a million subs, wow!
@@CleanandDeliciousDani Ok, don't hate on me! Lol! It is delish! I started making that about 7 years ago and took it to some BBQs.. where everyone, including those who HATE greens, asked me for the recipe...!!
I have two collard green plants in my garden, and we've harvested enough for two huge pots of collards, plus gave some away, and they're still producing. I was looking for some way to store them, so clicked on your video, and found so much fascinating information here, I instantly subscribed! I love how you cut them in ribbons, and some of your recipes look so yummy, I look forward to trying them! Thank you for a terrific video!!
I recently used a head of chopped collards in French onion soup and it was SO GOOD!!!!!! Perfect way to get some greens in and they take on the flavors of the soup. I'm sure they'd also work in a mushroom stroganoff. I treat them like spinach.
Now that is the reason i like your recipes! Delicious, easy, and healthy. I like to add some organic smoked sausage or bacon to mine as well. I personally have to leave out the raisins for blood glucose purposes. I also substitute red cooking wine for water sometimes.
Excellent presentation. I’ve used the onions, garlic and raisin combo when making Swiss chard, with the same delicious result. I live in MInnesota and have honestly never seen collards in a food store although I love eating them when I visit southern states. I will look for them locally. They are a nutritional powerhouse besides tasting great. Thank you!
We save stems and ends of other veggies and run them thru juicer with carrots, zucchini, etc. No waste. Can compost the pulp. I shred/finely slice collard leaves, sauté with seasonings and later add little water to steam complete the cooking. Tasty.
I never know what to do with collard greens, so I never buy them. Will try this, because I love raisens in certain recipes. Love all the ideas on this vegetable. Thanks for sharing 💕
Yessss to the return of 101! Can you do some on nontraditional winter veggies like parsnips, rhutabaga, chard, turnips, beets. I am trying to eat more seasonally but I have no idea how to use these!
I watched your video and I followed the recipe but not having at home an onion I used the green ones. It was the first time I tasted collar and I like it. Next time I will add less water and oil. Thank you.
This has been most useful, especially how you prep them and all the delicious recipes. I like your explanations. Thanks a lot. I have a name for this vege now! ☺️I'm looking forward to getting them to try!
Dani.. never had collard greens before but I’m definitely going to give it a go.. watched your kale 🥬 video and for dinner tonight I added some in my lentil soup, had some leftover sweet potato from your pulled pork recipe and tossed that in as well! Dang was that fantastic! The kale was a perfect addition and listening to you, I added some nutmeg just to amp up the flavor. Dani for the win once again!! Thank you for everything, Marsha
It's the main food in Kenya so another tip mostly if you have ulcers (they are pretty acidic) is to boil them before frying them in golden brown onions. You can either boil them in heat or boil water then soak them for 10 minutes. Don't worry it'll still be crunchy. And!!! They are awesome if you make green smoothie. So just blend collard greens with water melon and pineapple. Or minus water melon. Works well. For cooking you can have it with thick beef stew too so awesome but you'll need rice or sth to have it as a meal.
