How to Connect Xbox One Controller to PC or Laptop (Wireless or Wired)

I'll show you how to connect your xbox one controller to your PC or laptop through wireless or wired connections. I cover the simple steps of going through your bluetooth settings, enablings your xbox one controller to be synced via bluetooth, and then connecting the device through bluetooth on Windows 10.
Then I'll also show you what you need to connect through a wired connection. A micro USB to USB wire needs to be purchased or used to connect to your PC or laptop. The steps are that simple. Please comment below if you have any questions.

You may have figured this out already considering this is a year old comment but for those that still have this problem its most likely because you have a Xbox 1 first gen controller that doesnt have Bluetooth built in but has wifi connection. You'll need a Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter to put in the USB port for wireless connection.

Do i have to do this everytime i want to connect the controller? because i already paired it up with my bluetooth usb dongle on my pc but when i turn on the controller it doesn't connect automaticlly

Many thanks for this, I was trying to set this up, but the thing gives you an option at the bottom to pair Xbox controllers etc, so I was clicking on that. Sadly that does not work which is really stupid.

@@Danisntsorry it’s probably because your PC doesn’t have a Bluetooth built in. Check your system information and find your motherboard. Then Google the motherboard name and see if there’s an official page which will show you whether it has Bluetooth or not.
If your motherboard has a support page, and also offers Bluetooth, they should have a link to a Bluetooth driver that you need to install.
