Why not have both. Use ethernet for devices that are not moved like desktop computers and wifi too. Unless i heard wrong, You said you can only have one computer using ethernet. There is no limit. Your router has more than 1 ethernet port and you can use hubs. You can also use hotspots to have wifi broadcast from many endpoints of the ethernet connections. I think wifi is only good for devices that require it. Otherwise ethernet is obviously better.

Officially the max for cat5e/6 cable is 100m between the switch and the pc but most decent cables will likely be good for even longer lengths though so in homes it's usually not an issue. The cables will be affected if its near electrical cables at mains voltage though.

90mbps sounds like the router or switch you are using is capped at 100mbps on the ethernet. make sure you have a gigabit router or switch. if you do, then it also may be your computer that is capping it at 100mbps, instead of allowing the full 1gbps

An ethernet cable should improve your speeds, but you may also want to look into getting a better router. I have the Apple Airport Extreme at home, and it can dish out 80Mbps upload and download speeds over WiFi no problem.

Were you using 2.4 ghz or 5ghz? That's why your wifi speeds were slower. 5ghz can send double the data over the air
The range is trash and it has trouble due to interference walls glass and so on.
