Thank you for the very clear explanation. I was getting sick of condescending people on Reddit constantly saying that wifi is not internet, but not providing any explanation. Your video helped understand the concepts of wifi and internet connection.
Thanks for explaining this so clearly. I recently had to talk to my internet provider and when asked if i was having problems with my internet or wifi connections I had no clue! You've helped a lot. It's also comforting knowing I'm not the only one who didn't get this! You're a great teacher!
Congratulations for your excellent lesson. Now I understand the difference between the two terms. A marvelous instructor like you, foresees what questions are in the mind of the students. MARVELOUS! I have a fiber connection to the internet that provides me with both the modem and the router. I was intrigued on how my tablet, my iphone, and three laptops computers ( they have different operating systems, two run with Windows 11, and the other is an apple computer), are communicating. They are in separate locations to facilitate my work. I work at home, and of course it is a must to be able to access the internet. At my desk I can work, at my leaving room I can enjoy more than 140 channels, and my tablet (Apple) can access all my favorite channels as well.
So i have a phone service that offers 10 gigs of hot spot service .... how long will the 10 gigs last if i use a tablet for looking up things on the internet and signing documents on say an app compared to say watch youtube or playing candy crush for example . Can you try to answer each question please because i dont want to buy internet because they tell me i need to pay way more then i want to pay unless i can find just a internet without haveing to by cable and another home line... i dont watch tv and they say i have to buy it if i want internet ugh.... how long willa hot spot lasts based on all i asked above please so i have an idea... ty😊
Is the 10 Gigs a per month amount? If so, that should be plenty if you’re only surfing the internet, and you’re not frequently streaming. For many people with cell phone plans, I know that 5 Gigs is sufficient, so this might be a good alternative for you. As a side note, I also find it annoying how internet providers will charge you more if you just get an internet plan and it’s cheaper to get an internet and cable plan. I hope this helps!
I kinda understand. So if I am moving into a new apartment, and I want to be able to go on Instagram, or Netflix on any of my smart devices, then I need both Internet and Wi-Fi?
Hey @katilynbell6979 you are correct! If you want to be able to access Netflix or Instagram on wireless devices like your phone or tablet, you will need both WiFi and an internet plan. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Thank you.
I would recommend using an ethernet cable to connect a desktop PC to the internet. You will need to connect the ethernet cable to your PC and to your router to provide it with a wired connection to the internet
I had a bad thunder storm a couple months ago and my power went out for a bit. When it came back on my router turned back on and I have all green lights except the internet light is orange when it's usually green. I have WI-FI and I'm still able to connect to the internet even though by looking at the router and the orange light on it I would assume I shouldn't be getting internet. Would you know why that would be? A bad internet cable or something wrong with the router or modem? I didn't really think about it cause I've been able to access the internet with no problem ever since.
This is an interesting scenario. Have you tried rebooting your router again to see if it fixes the problem? Usually when the internet light is orange it means there is something wrong with your internet connection with your ISP: usually this is due to your modem not being registered with your ISP. In your case, it seems like everything is working properly so you have nothing to worry about. I’m thinking a router reboot should clean this up though. Good luck!
@@network-from-home I think I actually did try to reset the router and it didn't fix the problem, but I may try again. I don't have access to the modem cause I live in an apartment and the internet company I use put it in a room outside of my apartment that I don't have access to. I'd probably just have to call them and let them know there's something wrong.
@DanielPJMMAS you are correct when referring to an ethernet internet connection and a WiFi internet connection. An ethernet internet connection is like a cabled telephone, and a WiFi internet connection is like a wireless cell phone. Keep in mind that WiFi is just a way for your devices to connect to the internet (wirelessly).
The internet and WiFi are not the same thing. WiFi is a method of communication that your router uses to provide your devices with a wireless connection to the internet. To put it simply, WiFi is a method of wireless communication. I hope this helps!
@@network-from-home many thanks bless you lots and thanks again do you know any places i can buy a new hard disc from ?? also can you explain how hard discs work ?? thanks
Stay tuned! I have a video coming out in a few weeks that talks about how to add storage to a laptop. A good vendor to check out is called “Crucial”. That is where I buy my storage for my laptop. I hope this helps!
Excellent for older people like me who did not grow up with this technology ...Thank you
You're welcome! Thank you for checking out the video

Another thing you can do is call your internet provider and have them remotely reset your modem. That may do the trick!
Seems the simplest explanation is that the internet is like a cabled telephone, and the WiFi is like a wireless cell-phone? Is that correct?

thanx for the clarification
@RHR5140 thank you for checking out the video!
You need to cover the additional confusion of WISPs that use WI-Fi in a way that has nothing to do with the Wi-Fi within your house.
This is interesting. I can’t say I’m too familiar with WISPs but I can look more into them!
