      It sounds like that is the case. Your modem will connect to the WAN port on your router, which is sometimes outlined in blue. I hope this helps!

    Another thing to note is that if your Coaxial Outlet does not have a signal going through it, then a Cable Technician on behalf of your ISP would have to stop by your house so that they can activate that Coaxial Outlet in your house. The main source of the Cable Signal is typically located and installed beside an electricity panel of a house, and that is usually what the Cable Technician wants to look for in order to activate that Coaxial Outlet in your house, so that the customer can get Cable Internet access. If your room does not have a Coaxial Outlet, then what the Cable Technician would usually do is either drill a hole onto your room's floor in order to get the Cable Signal from there, or get the Cable Signal from outside your room's window. These two scenarios would have the Cable Technician extend a really long Coaxial Cable to your room so that the customer can get Cable Internet access. :)

    I am having issues with a cat 6 line. Speed tests are showing a very low speed. After testing another cat 6 in the same router port, I am receiving correctly. Could this problem be an issue of how the RJ 45 plug was installed?

    • @network-from-home
      @network-from-home 5 дней назад

      Yes, this is definitely a possibility that the connector is not attached to the cable correctly. With that said, the wires in the cable are most likely damaged from either bending the cable or putting a heavy object on it. I hope this helps!

    • @network-from-home
      @network-from-home 5 дней назад

      Have you made any changes to your Internet plan? If not, there could be an issue at your ISP. You will also want to make sure there is no electromagnetic interference that is affecting your Ethernet cable (make sure it isn’t close to any TVs, microwaves, etc.). I hope this helps!

      Are your other WiFi networks are working properly? If so, you may want to toggle the guest WiFi network off and on again, and then try resetting your router. The bottom line is your guest network shouldn’t be having issues if the other networks aren’t having issues. Hopefully this sorts things out

    Help. I am seeing a Wifi network with my router name/number with the word "guest" added - as if we set up a guest network with our router name ( you know... with the name and numbers that have letters too). • @network-from-home

      It’s possible this is the case, but also your brother might broadcast a guest network by default. To verify safe, you may want to change the password for your router’s settings. Also, while you’re in your router’s setting you will want to ensure there is no first network being broadcast (and disable it if it is). I hope this helps!

      You should be able to! The USB ports on your laptop should be able to support 1 Gbps speeds For example, a USB 3.0 port on your laptop can supports 5 Gbps, and many USB ports support speeds faster than that. So bandwidth shouldn’t be an issue here. I hope this helps!

    Aren't you still getting the emfs if you use a router?

      I’m not sure I understand what you mean by emfs. Are you referring to electromagnetic interference?

    Cant figure out why I have jitter and stuttering in games when I am hardwired with good high speed internet. does xfinity just suck?

      The only thing I could think of here is if you have some sort of electromagnetic interference (EMI) that is affecting the Ethernet cable that you’re using. Just make sure the Ethernet cable isn’t near your TV, microwave, etc. Other than that, I don’t think there’s a whole lot more that you can do. I hope this helps!

      I also have xfinity, have for a year and just recently, in the last two months I've been having consistent jitter, stuttering and straight up internet drops :\ They claim it's not on their end, was on wifi, not trying to hardwire and my speeds are significantly slower, trying to figure out why :') Sorry that wasn't useful, but I'm also having issues with xfinity

      The internet and WiFi are not the same thing. WiFi is a method of communication that your router uses to provide your devices with a wireless connection to the internet. To put it simply, WiFi is a method of wireless communication. I hope this helps!

      Stay tuned! I have a video coming out in a few weeks that talks about how to add storage to a laptop. A good vendor to check out is called “Crucial”. That is where I buy my storage for my laptop. I hope this helps!
