I’m going to throw another one out there that I think will be very useful. A pilots flight logbook. I am a pilot and I have an official logbook that I use for logging flight time as required by the FAA. However, I think it would be useful to have a personal logbook to keep track of the flight, the aircraft used, the people that were on the trip, the destinations, the route of the flight, any Weather hazards along the route notes about the airport at the departure and destination. Fuel prices, etc. I’m quite sure there is a market for this each page could have fun facts, or trivia at the bottom in the footer section.

This is great advice. A year ago I started publishing logbooks on kdp and with only around 10 books I make £20-60 a month. I’ve never placed an ad or had a month without sales. I want to grow this passive profit stream so will be growing my Amazon books over the next few months. I’ve only been watching RUclips videos on this for the last couple of months so I will be implementing a lot that I’ve learned from this channel. Thanks for the inspiration 😊

I started in February. Of course my first book was a cursing coloring book. Posted it on my Facebook page, and it's selling. It's not great though. I've done two more. The 2nd one, I went over to fivver (?) and paid $20 bucks for a cover. The 3rd one is still in review. While waiting, I created an online/subscription tracker. Again, waiting for the review process. I also tried my hand at 3 composition books, same design, different colors. They were just published.
Being an artist for most of my adult life, I assumed this would be so easy. I was wrong. So much to learn. Keywords, categories, software, etc. I think my first big mistake was creating journals with dreadful covers. I've had to re-create the covers several times. I'm not giving up, even though there have been some tears. I have to remember to get up and walk away from my laptop. I get so gung-ho that I don't come up for a breather: Resulting in less-than quality results.

Great video Paul! thank you again for this vital information and education about books! It's suprising to have people who buy log books in any profesion or area. Even if there is the phone which can be a big help, books doesn't fall back either. I remember my mom still write her cooking recipes in a generic notebook or agenda. one of this logs is a life and game changer.
And on the otherhand, it gives you the learning process and experience to the publishing. And once you get the experience and knowledge, you could do whatever the heart pleases.

Great content. Just subscribed. BUT… 2 questions.
    1. Why would you present your own niche that makes you money to others. It just creates more competition for you. Not accusing you but most of the time RUclipsrs start presenting their niches when those niches no longer make them money. So they switch to presenting a low value niche to their RUclips audiences.
    2. You mentioned not to do a dinosaur book but in one of your other videos you are showing people how to make a book for the exact niche you tell people not to go in to.
Again, great content and I think you present really good stuff. I’d just like to know your position on those 2 questions since I’ve seen it so many times from other RUclipsrs.

    • @paulmarles

I'm not in a lot of these niches. I have so much work to do I don't have the resources to do them all. I create the videos on niches because I enjoy it, I know the market very well, they provide value and most of my audience enjoy them too. The video is on how to use AI as a technique to create coloring books. I chose dinosaur just an example. It's not a video instructing you to go out and create dinosaur coloring books.

This video couldn't have come at a better time. As always, Paul doesn't fail to deliver quality and easy to follow content. I must admit you are the only one in the business I trust and your videos always explain common issues that I encounter in this kdp business. Thank you!

Hi Paul, Why do people still want to use paper log notebooks when they can use Google sheet or other way to record their ledgers? This question is in my mind for a long time and prevents me to create logbooks. Thanks

There are still many people who prefer to write on paper and also a lot of businesses prefer to keep paper records.

Hi Paul, I see that your reserches are on the ,,All Departments'' but if you search your poporsed niches is the ,,Books'' category there is over 50 000 results. Hence I dont think that this is real niche. Or can you explain this aspect more?

My granddad had a cattle breeding logbook that was literally stuck to the wall inside the hall 😆 couldn't go in the door without being met with the words 'artificial insemination'... never seemed to put him off his dinner though!

Thanks, Paul. I have watched all your videos but this was just so real. Not many people can share this kind of info. I was also wasting so much time creating coloring books and activity books with no sales, yet the few that were selling are in the exact niches you are talking about. I think I'll shift my attention to them now and use my time creating more of them. Thanks, you always save the day. 💪💪💪

Did i see correctly at minute 10 and 35 seconds that you are selling 2,229 books? And you made $1,522 in the last 12 days, so that's about $3750 per month... which comes out to about an average of $1.70 profit per book per month....??? That's very little profit per book per month and that's a lot of books....... How long did it take you to publish all those books? Or was that something else I saw?
