Outstanding video. I have the Rally and am getting well over 200 miles to a tank off highway travel. I think the Rotopax or bottles with the "L" model is the way to go...too much brain damage for just 40 extra miles with this tank and most "L" riders aren't doing long highway rides with it anyway. These are not touring bikes.

I’ve seen it. I have a few issues with that set up. It uses tabs on the frame to mount that I’ve actually removed already so I can’t use one. But here’s the deal, those tabs are weak! I’m really surprised they chose those to mount to. Also using the vacuum created from the fuel pump to draw fuel in isn’t the best idea. It’s not a guarantee that will always work, if the cap isn’t perfectly sealed forget it. Puts more strain on the fuel pump. Hot days will cause issues with that set up. Would be a lot better if they just made it gravity fed with an inline petcock. But hey I could be wrong 🤷‍♂️

Since I have a 2017 CRF250 Rally I figured I'd let you know what range my setup gets me. I'm just running the stock tank (10.8L [2.85 gallon]) with a 6.6L (1.75 gallon) rotopax on my pannier racks. Now firstly when I fill the rotopax as ful as I can while mounted on the pannier rack it actually fits 8.2L (2.1 gallons) and I also fill my tank as full as I can when leaned over on the side stand. I get 250km (155 miles) on the main tank before I refuel but the E light usually starts flashing at about 230km (143 miles). Then when I refuel from the rotopax I can get to 450km (280 miles) before the E light starts flashing again. I have never ran the bike out of fuel to the point that you did though and at some point I would like to because at 250km I still have about 1L (0.26 gallons) of fuel in the tank and I would like to know what my true range limit is.

Hay first off. Thanks for your videos. I purchased two CRF 300 rallies. We love them we’re traveling the world we’re trying to get to Thailand right now. We’re stuck in Southern California trying to get paperwork right. I love the shocks I got the same ones that you put on your bike I was worried about it, but they were fine, The reasons I went with the rally was going get the a bigger tank to begin with and the windshield of course for touring. I Enjoy your videos I did purchase two Camel extended a fuel range tanks but when I got them, I realize that if I fell over with my luggage on the back, it might break them off and I didn’t want that mess going on while I was traveling so I think I may do the roto pack in the end if I need something but for right now I’m just sticking with the stock tank. Thanks for the videos you’ve inspired me to do a few things on my bike. Oh by the way, I had excessive vibration on the handlebars and I took 2 inch diameter stainless steel stock 4 inches long cut it in half and had a milled and drilled to fit my bike. Feeling great and they cut the vibration. I’m down by 80%. My GF’S Bike didn’t have the vibration so I haven’t touched her’s, anyway have a great day thanks bye Dan channel Ridingonandon by the way if you had a rack on your bike I think the rack would’ve protected the Camel they would’ve been fine, but I’m not going for that .
