No need to apologize for the length of the video--great questions by the viewers, and anyone who is considering either the 300l or the Rally will find this incredibly helpful in making their decision. Seems like an excellent all-around bike, and with some tweaks to the suspension, good bash plate, hand guards, etc., it's only going to be better and more enjoyable to ride. I look forward to your future content with this bike! Great job.

Thanks for another great video ! This should definitely help people looking at buying a dual sport be able to decide what bike to get . I picked my Rally up on Thursday and have already put 250 km on it offroad and another 150 km on road and I can honestly say this bike is leagues ahead my old DRZ400s IMO , It "feels" lighter and more nimble and the power and torque curve is spectacular

Hey buddy, you have been through a lot of health issues over the past few months. Please take it easy & don’t test your extreme enduro desire & keep it a lot safer on your self. Remember it is super fun just to ride on dirt roads & nice single track. Please don’t push yourself. You should ride to have fun & not to hurt yourself. We need you healthy, happy & creating the great videos & shots that we your video fans keep tuning in to see. I am especially looking forward to the upgrades you make to your unicorn. Again, stay safe & have fun doing it!!!!

That sounds great as I said before acting like an Erzberg Enduro champion I am not, so I ride because just being in gods creation & admiring it all is spiritually inspiring & so much fun as well as the enjoyment of freedom motorcycling gives us I decided to let those teenagers & 20 somethings have the extreme hard rides. Besides their bodies can recover, my body may not & being married I need to be here for my wife. I need her & I know she needs me. I only use paved roads to get to the dirt because too many idiots in their cars drive texting. That’s not too safe while in a car & as you know even worse on a motorcycle. Stay safe we enjoy you being here & healthy as long as you can!!!!

I called Honda Powersports Chattanooga TN 9/28/2001 looking for the 2021 CRF300L Rally. Was told two to three months wait. They called next day and delivered it to me 9/30/2021. I saved $1700 over another dealer in GA. No dealer fees, no delivery fees. MSRP and $30 administrative fee only. I called 10 other dealers and no one had one of these in stock and did not know when they would get one. My salesman was Gus and very pleased with this purchase/service by dealer.

Just coming up for the first service on my CRF 300 .
Loving this bike ,the engine is getting sweeter with every mile .
Fitting Renthal gold bars , Acerbis hand guards and Acerbis plastic skid plate .
YSS rear shock and fork spring upgrade.
Had a F850 GS too much bike for my skill set and old hips and knees so learning to ride off-road on this little 300 is far more fun and manageable.
All the best from the UK .😁🇬🇧🏍

Looking forward to the customization journey, especially around suspension approach (springs only, rear shock assembly, complete change out, etc). Also, hints and tips as to who is providing what in terms of accessories for this bike as theY come out (skids plates, extended range tanks, seats, racks, etc!). All part of the fun. Also hope you don’t lose sight on the latest industry rumours (ie, to help me decide if I should wait for yamaha wr250r replacement or buy and ship in, one of the only few left in dealers in North America).

Hi great review. I went the other way from a 2017 259 L, fully tricked out with race tech suspension fuel programmer and exhaust to a low miles WR. The WR had full exhaust and fuel programmer on it as well. The WR feels more cold blooded and does not nearly run as smooth as butter like to 250 L did. The rear shock on the WR need some work as it bucks you off the bike on certain jumps. All I wanted to say is there’s a lot of spec sheet shopping going on. In real world the difference was quite small between the 250 L fully done up and a WR.

Great video Solid and thanks for sharing! You rock :) Say hi to Dave for me please. This summer I will be using my CRF250L for adv riding. It's gotten every engine upgrade except for more displacement - and somewhere between the EJK and the FMF powerbomb header and nearly-open muffler (Big Gun Eco) it turned into more of an uncorked engine. Changed the gearing from 14/40 stock to 14/42. Looking forward to seeing how this works for adventure riding. Maybe I've been doing it wrong all along with a big heavy bike that can't go offroad.

Just bought my second CRF 300 L (11/3/2021)out the door for $5578.19 /with ABS. Bought from Southern Honda in Chattanooga TN. No transportation or dealer prep charges ever. They seem to have inventory where my local dealers did not. I had to wait 2 days for the Rally and two weeks for the 300L, did not want ABS but it was all they had to offer. I do have to pay Florida taxes when I tag it.

Chronicles of Solid - 2 big items (non-removable sub-frame) and the suspension. The non-removable subframe makes maintenance (like greasing suspension removing the rear shock). Plus the air box if one needs to remove a jig-saw puzzle of contortions. Compared to the Honda 250 - the sub-frame is a huge sinker.

agree with your reasons on getting the 300l 😁 my reasons would also be
1 , need to be a better rider to get the most out of the 300 rally (weighs more )
2 , to much plastic ( i drop bikes tooo often ) ie run out of talent 😣
3 , my body and health will NOT allow me to man handle bigger weight bikes any more 😣😒
Sooo if i had the money i would be in now to get a 300l 🤣🤔
oh well looks like i will keep riding my TTR250 🤨👍
keep well Mate and cant wait for the trail riding videos to start 😉🍺🍺

I wonder how many horses it has now in Australia? Couldn't find it on the Honda page. If it's the 27 hp as here in Europe, I wouldn't understand how you find it to be "a bit stronger everywhere" powerwise. And congrats to your awesome purchase, I enjoy your videos so much!

IMO It is Torque and where it makes its power in the rev range that matters more than peak figures. Having the power and torque come on where you need it is very helpful for in seat experience. For me they have got it just right.

We're getting 29-31km/L on the Rallys. It seems to be about the limit for fuel efficiency. Tank at 12.8L at 30km/L give us 384km max. Honda au site reckon 32.3km/L and 350km+ range.

I also just got my 300L last weekend. I agree with your highway assessment. It’s very highway capable. My concern is the throttle jerkiness at low speeds. It’s very hard to modulate the throttle off road. How does this compare to your DRZ400 or previous WR250? I am new to the dual sport world but it seems quite jerky at low speeds.

@5:59 Unless, you'd need a larger tank and would have no sensible options of retrofitting LED headlights like in kraut country. This is due to the lack of availability of road legal LED headlights or LED headlights at all and/or the cost prohibitive way of getting them road legal. :)

But the Yamaha WR250R is only 126kgs dry and the Honda CRF300L is 143kgs dry, that's 17kgs difference and when you're doing some intense off roading, the weight definitely makes a difference. The WR250R other than being super expensive here in Australia will win hands down when it comes to going off road. The Honda is good value for money for sure though 👍 Nice vid bro.

Thanks mate. Yer they are both great options depending on what you want. CRF300L quoted by Honda to be 142 Kerb Weight (wet) for international bikes and our Model here in Aus is quoted at 140kg motorcycles.honda.com.au/models/offroad/trail/crf300l/specifications.
Of course that is relying on a manufacturer being transparent and well... All equal, weight difference is 8-10kg.

  • @brianj4543
    @brianj4543 3 года назад

I have the 250l and the SWM 300r the Honda is better on road (smoother and less fatigueing) SWM is the way better off road bike, lighter, and better suspension and 35kw vs 24 on the Honda. Once my butt gets sore the Honda is the go to. There is no perfect bike but these are 2 of the best Dual Sports and I'm considering the move to the CRF 300l from the 250l. Good work Solid great to hear your first hand reports. Do you get a commission if I buy one?

I wonder how the seat compares with the 250 Rally, my only bike ever so can't compare...but off road it's no issue particularly if standing a lot. On road with stops every hour or so it's quite ok and full days are manageable. I use quality cycling shorts which add comfort. 👍 By the way I reckon the 300 looks awesome and I'm sure you'll love it.

Thanks mate, I rode the Rally 250 but it was so long ago I cannot comment on the seat 😜 Myself I do the same as you, impact shorts (with foam butt) and I am standing enough that it rarely matters to me.

Hey solid, l’m enjoying the content. I’m in the market to buy one of these bikes, but can’t decide if l should buy rally or the L. I’m 6.3-93kg, l sat on the crf250 rally and the bike felt really small. Motor size l’m fine with, it’s the height of the new bike l’m concern about. l’d like it to be 900mm when sitting on it. On your next video could you show what the bike looks like with you sitting on it👍

I still find it strange that Yamaha discontinued the WR250R outright. I'd heard it couldn't meet new Euro emissions standards, but couldn't they continue to sell it in other markets? I'm pretty sure it was still fine here in North America.

@@traderinthetrees1785 I’ve been very patiently waiting also , because I know Yamaha will perfect this platform and produce the ultimate dual sport bike , they’re quietly watching in the shadows , looking at Honda’s weak suspension and Kawasaki’s poor instrument cluster and no ABS , a lit of other other little things that can be improved upon , and they see these things , and they’re taking notes , I gotta believe this .

I hope you didn't put too much weight in the wheelbase when making your decision, as it's identical for both the L and Rally. Also, I have heard that the seat is a little better on the Rally as it's wider towards the back and tapers in the front for stop standing height...I believe it differs from the L due to the larger, much steeper fuel tank on the Rally.

  • @roocrew86

great content but I dont really understand the rules. I watched your DRZ400E vid where you listed issues and they seemed valid. You said you didn't want to put cash into it to fix the niggles, eg sprocket. You wouldn't buy a sprocket to fix gearing on the DRZ but you're ok with buying new suspension for the 300L? :-S
I don't have a DRZ or anything but it seems a little hash, $ wise gearbox upgrade sprockets etc would be comparable to new suspension

man i cant imagine downgrading from the 400e. it sounds like it's great on fuel though so that is an actual bonus over the 400e an extra 5lph is what the 400e needs.

A 6th/overdrive gear is what the DRZ needs ... despite that, I can get up to 146 kmph Speedo (143 or so it was, on my mate’s GPS speedo) on my E, so 🤷🏻‍♂️. Just spent the long w/end doing all sorts of tracks around Bunbury, SA (my first off-road experience), and the other riders on Husk 501, XR650R, DR650 were all impressed with the DRZ. 😎👍🏼
