You should carry a three meter ratchet strap if you get a puncture you could wrap the strap around a tree to hold your bike up when you take the wheel off to fix the puncture ,old jimmy Australia
nice job! I am planning on getting same bike and you gave me some great ideas. I will be implementing most if not all of them. I really appreciate you taking the time and sharing the info. safe travels.
Just put the T Rex windshield on my 300l yesterday. Me too, couldn’t decide if I wanted to do so, so stayed in the box for a year. Now, very pleased. Looks great.
Just got the Outback Motortek crash bars for my LS as well. Wondering what you torqued the engine bolts to? I’ve seen a few different specs and not sure which is correct. Any insight is appreciated!
If you're bolting right into the factory bar end weights in the factory bars, I used my own pair of M6 bolts. i would have preferred M8, but didn't want to drill out the M6 threading. Now, I have aftermarket pro-taper bars with hollow ends and used the mounting kit that came with the hand guards.
This is a great video. I was checking the link for the USB port and the link shows something that looks different to what you have. Maybe the model change? Also, can you do a video explaining how you connected it. I just got my LS a week ago, looking for some extras for it. Thanks!
I used this USB adapter (which is SAE): amzn.to/3HgORWu . I bought this connector from SRC moto that allowed me patch directly into the USB adapter: www.srcmoto.com/collections/electrical-accessories-crf-300l-rally/products/do-it-yourself-plug-play-accessory-lead-honda-crf-250l-rally
I think with the accessory wire I bought it had a schematic showing where to look. I can tell you this. It was on the right side and just behind the housing. I didn't have to remove anything and there was a very visible and clearly capped plug tucked up behind the light. I believe it was inside one of those shiny vinyl/rubber boots. If you look behind the light on the right side, look for that boot, and you should see the capped plug there. There's a picture on the site here that I think is accurate - the last picture on the page: (www.srcmoto.com/collections/electrical-accessories-crf-300l-rally/products/do-it-yourself-plug-play-accessory-lead-honda-crf-250l-rally)
Hey great info. I have the Flatland racing radiator guard and Outback Motortek crash bar. The strut bar does fit with the radiator Guard. So I have been using it without the strut bar…. :/ I just want to make sure the SRC moto radiator guard clears the outback motortek strut bar?
I had this same problem. I tried to use the flatland racing guard and it caught on the bottom. I also didn't like that it left the upper portion of the radiator exposed and I didn't like how it pushed out the plastic fairing on the right side of the bike. I pitched it for the SRC guard. The SRC guard works perfect and uses all factory equipment. Yes it's not braced to the side bar as hefty as the flatland guard, but with my extra engine protection bars, I'm ok with that.
Hi Brother, I just have received my Honda CRF300 LS. Please let me know how do I turn headlights off. I see no option there is only low beam and high beam option.
It's hard to say. I've had success with everything I've tried with the exception of the crash bars needed a minor tweak (the cross bar was rubbing on the front wheel fender). Best bet is to just email whichever vendor you're thinking of buying from and ask them.
Hi. How do you like the colour after having the bike for a while? In my country I can get the 300l in either red or swift grey. I love the grey but just wonder if it’s safer to go for red so cars might see me better. Have you had any issues with being seen? Thanks for the video, some really useful insights for a new owner like me!
I haven't noticed an obvious difference with respect to my visibility. I just sort of operate on the assumption that no one sees me anyway. I did have the bright red Trail 125 for a year, and now this CRF300LS for a year (in grey) and it doesn't feel any different. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the Honda Red, so was really excited that the LS came in the swift grey/orange. It suits my tastes much better (and has fun topo line graphics). Incidentally, I had always wanted the lime green Trail 125 here in the US as opposed to the bright red...and the new 2024 model now comes in that green!
@@On2Feet yes the topo line graphics are a bit special aren’t they. I didn’t even notice that until I looked at the bike up close in person. Very excited to collect the new bike next week. Thanks and happy and safe travels to you!
Was it difficult to install the SRC skid plate? I bought it based on your review. I don’t feel comfortable removing engine bolts in general. Will I need a second set of hands?
It wasn't difficult to install and it did require removing the one engine bolt. I had no problem doing it alone. With that said, the T-Rex racing skid plate bolts right on without having to remove engine bolts if you'd prefer not to do that. If I could go back, I'd probably get that one, but it's not worth spending the extra money now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
A very nice video - your bike is shaping up nicely! I am curious about one thing. You ride on some pretty technical and chunky trails. Have you ever considered a dual sport helmet for that kind of riding, and, more importantly, a helmet with a better safety rating than your generic DOT, such as a SNELL rating or an ECE rating? I'd be interested in your thoughts on that. Thanks.
Yes! I have a much better helmet that I wear when off road (Arai XD-4). This orange helmet is just my commuting ("in town") helmet for going back and forth to work and the coffee shop. I guess I would add that while the i70 isn't officially SNELL rated, it still scored relatively high (4/5), so it's not terrible. I would not wear it when doing anything off-road though as you note. billyscrashhelmets.com/hjc-i70-full-face-motorcycle-crash-helmet-review/
I’ve been following along as well ever since you’ve created videos on the LS. I couldn’t find an LS near me, so picked up a 300L yesterday. Love your mods so far! Have you noticed a difference in weight since adding the crash bars?
I have not noticed any weight difference when navigating off road. With that said, the crash bars are likely the heaviest accessory I added. Enjoy your new 300! I'm having a blast on mine.
I got mine from Helminc here: www.helminc.com/helm/homepage.asp I know when I got mine for the Trail 125 I had to select CT125A and it cost 50 bucks. Not sure if they have one for the new 2023 model yet (with the new oil filter).
hey man i love your videos and the attention to detail you put in them. you seem very informative about this bike and i wanted to ask if you think this bike and the crf300l standard are the same …OTHER then the height…i want to put a tst rear fender delete and im curious if their crf300l lighting system will work with the crf300ls, i’ve emailed them directly and they said they haven’t tested it on the crf300ls so i figured i’d ask someone who’s actually seen the ls upfront and close in person
As far as I can tell, the differences (other than the color scheme) are all related to the height. This means a slightly lower suspension and ground clearance...as well as a slightly thinner seat. I suppose one other difference is that you cannot get the LS without ABS. The only model available is ABS. I've looked on Honda's website and it doesn't appear there are any other differences listed either.
....One other note is that because of the slightly different dimensions, some accessories don't fit quite right (as was discovered with my crash bars rubbing on the front fender)
I didn't realize that the LS wasn't available in Europe. I'm not sure what to say other than to get loud and vocal with Honda. It seems unfair that some models aren't globally available. I know for example that Canada only just started getting the Trail 125 this year.
Spencer, I swapped out the parts I was using and now have all original parts back for the rally raid rack if your still interested. It looks like it’s back in stock on their site but I’ll sell you mine for $80 if you’re interested
I’m looking to do zeta hand guards like yours as well and I was wondering what the metal cap is at the end of your Handle bar set up is? It looks so good. I wanted to mount the hand guards to the adapter that goes to the front forks zeta has for sale but before I get anything I wanted to know what hardware 6mm bolts you used and what the end cap was.
Yes! I've seen others put it on the LS (assuming you mean the Acerbis tank). I'm certainly thinking about it as a possibility one day if I do keep the LS long term, but for now I am ok with the stock tank and a spare canister.
I am 60 and 5’10” and heavy, so the LS looks like it was made for me, l only be riding on country roads and gravel forest roads . A video of accessories that do and don’t interchange with the 300l would be nice, great video thanks
How tall are you? I'm researching the bikes I'm most interested to test out, and many reviewers neglect to say their height when they comment about how well various bikes fit them. I'm 6ft (183cm.)
@@On2Feet Thanks! The LS is on my short list to try as a starter/keeper, but none have been available here lately to try. I liked the feel of the DRZ400, but it was too tall for my wife's comfort (she's 5.5ft/165cm) and we're aiming for one starter/keeper we can both learn on before deciding on a second bike for just me.

The T. rex racing wind shield is really good for keeping the wind off of your chest in chilly weather. I really like mine. 17:26

I just bought my LS yesterday! Thank you making these videos!!!
Get ready for lots of fun! ;-)
thanks for the vid, invest in some lights so the vids easier to see please!
Ha ha...yeah. My garage is pretty dark even with my work spotlight. I do need better lighting.
Where did you get the service manual from? Could you please add the link for it as well?
I highly recommend you install the foot pegs!
Great mods and products. I love how you explain everything. Love your videos. Learning many things.
Great job!! You show a lot of confidence in the bike.
Greetings,
As always another brilliant detailed video 🇺🇸🍾🎉🇺🇸
Keep producing more videos.
I'd done something with that hose ridding above the handlebars.
Nice tour, there's some cracking stuff on the and it's interesting to see your thought process through the luggage rack

I can't remember, but I will check the service manual
This video does a great job of covering so many neat upgrades just as a rider have to compliment you! Great job , good stuff!
Great video, very informative.
Now you need to replace those stock footpegs. Make sure you check our options.
What size bolt did you use to attach the handguards?

Would you recommend them for a first time rider? I wanted something to cruise around town on but also do some weekend trail riding
I bought an LS last weekend. Thanks for sharing so much of your trial and error. What brand of stand were you using?
I heard Rally for your second rack. I wonder if CRF300 Rally parts can fit the CRF300LS? Say, the bigger fuel tank?
Which lift did you buy that fits the ls? Thanks
I just bought one off of amazon. This one I think: amzn.to/4ePVyOe
