I find those rides relaxing. Seeing what speeds (in gears) those CRF300's do on various surfaces with those soft, long-travel suspensions is highly instructional - to me. Given all yours and your sons' tire complaints, I'm wondering when you're going to spring for at least 50/50 tires? fyi: Kyle Bradshaw (RUclips's most popular tire-review guy?) proclaims Bridgestone AX41's to be his 'favorites' for BOTH on/off road.@@WOODZMAN

‘Simple if you know what you’ are doing” You do not pull on the yellow part out on the fuel connector. Yes push in the little clip on it and then PUSH the yellow clip IN and not out. In and it will release with ease. Not need for needles and anything other than a small driver to push the small release clip.

I bought the tank after watching your review. this is a great video for instruction on how to change it out. they were sold out on crf only, probably because of your video. I picked it up on rocky mountain atv at a cheaper price. I installed the tank today. Your video was great. a note on the little C clip on the fuel line. you do pull it out slightly to remove the line but if you pull it all the way out, you can install the line but the C clip won't go back in. the C clip has to be partially in when the line is pushed on , then you can insert the C all the way back in.

Thanks so much for another wonderful installation video, I've missed them! Your attention to details and super helpful little tips that you learned, is the best available, and made all of the Africa Twin and CRF300L upgrades super easy to perform. I've been putting off the Acerbis tank install, mainly due to the gas cap, but now you've got me thinking again. I'll miss your videos when it comes to installing things on my 2024 Transalp. Thanks for the reply Frank! An opportunity to get the Acerbis tank installed for free came up, as I’ve burned up my engine on the CRF300l, by installing an oil filter backwards, then putting 6k miles on it! The engine work is costing $2,500! That hurts. But after my mechanic repairs the engine he’s dropping in the new tank (now $249 at rocky Mt) for free!
      Be careful installing oil filters!

You need to push the yellowgreen slide bit inwards when you take the line off.

    Thanks for the great video.
Stupid question but at 7:52 the vent is at the bottom of the tank on the original one. On the Acerbis it's obviously at the top (on the cap)
How can the vent work at the bottom of the tank? There's always fuel covering it so air can't flow? Or is fuel meant to go through that hose and there's a mini reservoir somewhere with enough space for expansion?

    • @WOODZMAN

It connects to a tube inside the tank that goes to the top

@@WOODZMAN thanks. Yeah I saw these I might have to do the same. I wonder why they even have a short hose on it, they could just do a cap (that doesn't leak, unlike the locked caps from acerbis).

one way valve connecting carbon can with the tank -> is allowing the flow from the carbon can to the tank - which completely doesn't make sense??
It should be opposite - fumes from tank should go to the carbon can?

Yea I just don’t really see a need for a locking gas cap. Some people depending on where they park there bikes may need one.

If you got long distance why didn’t you buy the rally with the bigger tank,or do you just like working on bikes

I just don’t care for the rally, I like for my headlight to turn with the bars. And I just don’t care for the looks of the rally.

Hi, I'm planning to buy this tank but I'm a little doubtful because my CRF currently has a Zeta radiator guard installed, can this tank still be installed on my CRF? Please advise, thx 🙏

    • @WOODZMAN

I’m not sure about the Zeta Radiator guards, I do know that if you have flatland racing guards the. You order the tank kit from CRFs Only made for the Flatland radiator guards. Basically they dust send some modified brackets for the flatland guards.

I find Acerbis 3.6 gal tank a bit ugly, needlessly large and not so neatly built. I really don't like the plastic cap that looks the same as those on cheap plastic fuel cans.
The other option is IMS. Better built, better looking, but just too small. 2.5 gallon is too little over stock 2.1 gal. It makes it almost pointless to buy and install.
I wish there was a middle way tank option around 3.0 gal that could fit original tank cap. That would do 200 miles / 300km fuel range that is good enough for most places in my part of the world.

    • @WOODZMAN
      @WOODZMAN  9 месяцев назад +2

I had the IMS for n my 250L, the fit of the IMS is not nearly as good as the Acerbis and having to put the metal brackets on the IMS is dumb.
I think the look of the Acerbis is great. I would never choose the IMS over the Acerbis again.
Of course everyone has their own opinion.
